Chapter 13
He paid for the pizza and set it on the small table in the living room. Sarah came out with plates and a can of soda for Molly. Together they ate pizza, watching Jeopardy reruns, yelling answers out to the TV, trying to beat the contestants. It was fun. Danny sent a quick text to Alyssa to let her know he wouldn’t be there for dinner and Molly was taken care of before they finished dinner.
Danny couldn’t believe how easy it was to talk to Sarah. Without even thinking about it, he almost told Sarah about Kim when the subject started to come up during the pizza. He had never told anyone about Kim and yet he wanted to tell Sarah. Everything about this situation was abnormal. He was in Sarah’s apartment, with his daughter and he wasn’t itching to get out. If anything, he wanted to stay. When he saw her at the store, he thought it was a fluke. He was lucky enough to see her half-naked, looking sun kissed and sexy at the store. He was delighted to see she had seemed just as pleased to see him. When she walked out of the dressing room he immediately wanted to strip the rest of her clothes off.
Molly, the best wing-man, had somehow finessed the situation so they got to come back to the apartment. He could tell by Sarah’s face she was nervous. Danny had been respectful enough not to go in the bedroom but he had sneaked a look. Her bedroom looked like her, soft pastel colors, lots of pillows and one teddy bear on top of the nightstand.
Together they went to the kitchen to clean up and when they returned Molly was fast asleep on the couch.
“You want a night cap?” Sarah asked.
“What did you have in mind?” Danny asked, taking his familiar position leaning against the counter.
She opened her cabinet and as she turned from him, he found himself looking at her ass.
She looked over her shoulder to make sure he was looking just as she pulled out a half-empty bottle of Macallan Ruby. “Scotch,” she said.
He was smitten with this woman. She liked beer, pizza, milkshakes and now good scotch, too. He was familiar with the more expensive brand.
“I’d love some,” Danny said.
Danny watched her pour two fingers of scotch and add water like an expert into two glasses.
“A woman that knows her scotch,” he said with a grin
She handed him a glass and raised her own in a toast. “We aim to please here,” she said. “Cheers.”
“Cheers,” Danny said, clicking his glass against hers. “To a night well spent.”
“A night well spent, indeed.”
Danny took a sip and moaned aloud as the amber liquid slid down his throat leaving that subtle burn.
“You have good taste,” he said.
“I like to think I do,” she said and licked her lips.
He took another sip of his drink, scrutinizing her body language. Her eyes were clear though dilated and she was biting her bottom lip. She held her scotch and turned away from him to pour a glass of water. He didn’t need more liquid courage. He was already heady for her.
He could feel himself hardening as he moved forward. In two steps, he was standing right behind her. He couldn’t stop himself. He hadn’t felt this way for a woman in so long. He needed this. He could see her shoulders tense as he put his hands on her arms. He leaned down, his nose taking in the perfume at her neck before he kissed her there, savoring the smooth skin under his lips. She leaned away, giving him more room to kiss her and he did. Opening his mouth, he tasted her for the first time and moaned again. She tasted better than the scotch.
He removed the glass of water from her hand. “Who needs water?” he said, whispering into her ear before biting on the lobe. He heard her utter a small cry and sucked harder. She was hot putty in his hands and he wanted this. He hadn’t been with a woman in a while and a woman he already wanted for more than one night was an entirely different ball game.
Their thighs pressed together from hip to knee as he pressed his hard-on against her. Sarah moaned and widened her stance.
Things got hot and heavy. Danny wasn’t sure if it was hotter because he had actual feelings for this woman or because his child was just a few feet away sleeping and they had to be quiet. Whatever it was, he had to see it through. He turned her and kissed down her neck to her collarbone, licking against the dainty structure. His hands slid up her shirt, pinching her nipples through her bra. She moaned and he pulled back to shush her. “We don’t want Molly to wake up.”
She nodded and he made quick work of his pants, unbuttoning them just enough to make them fall to the floor.
“You’re beautiful. You know that?”
She blushed and he dusted kisses against her lips.
“I have never done this before,” she whispered and Danny froze.
She seemed so experienced. The way she looked at him and felt in his hands. He thought these were all signs that she was comfortable and ready. Maybe he misunderstood and misread the situation.
“You’ve never had sex this way before, or you’ve never had sex?” he said, looking down at how close their bodies were.
She shook her head.
“Never?”
She shook her head again, looking down so her hair was in her face.
He needed to see her face. He slid his index finger under her chin, lifting her head until he could look her in the eye.
“Do you want to keep going?” he said.
“Hell yes,” she said breathlessly.
He didn’t immediately move. If she was a virgin, he thought she deserved more. Flowers, candles, really, not a hot fuck against the kitchen counter trying to be quiet to let a little girl sleep a few feet away. Molly couldn’t see anything but if she woke and lifted her head she would be getting an early life lesson. Right now that wasn’t what he wanted to give to Sarah.
“Danny?” He could see the fear of rejection in her eyes.
“Come on,” he said, tucking himself back into his jeans.
“Where are we going?” she asked, taking his hand.
“To the bedroom.”
