The wrap party had started. For once, Jacob wasn’t the first to arrive, no in fact, he might have been the very last. He hadn’t really felt like coming. Emotionally, he had shut down. It was his mechanism, after all.

He glanced up and saw Anna staring at him.
She motioned her head, then turned and walked down a hallway to the next studio.
Did she want him to follow her? She did, but should he? It couldn’t hurt. They would talk and maybe even make a toast. It would be a good way to leave this.

Then the door there clicked open.

Jacob stepped forward. “That is just it. You will not be able to understand. Just believe me. You want no part of this or me.” He walked past her and grabbed his clothes to hurriedly put them on.
“Then why? Why did we just do this?”

Jacob drove to the gate, maybe for the last time.
The gate lifted as he nodded to Hal, the night guard.
