Two Halves (Cate & Kian Book 2) by Louise Hall (29)

throat.  She swallowed slowly, letting the back of her throat massage the head of his cock.

As she bobbed up and down, Kian roughly tugged her hair.  His hips thrusting upwards, “Cate, I’m gonna…”

She reached between his legs and rubbed the small patch of nerves under his balls.  “Fuck,” Kian grunted, exploding inside her mouth.  She swallowed every last drop before climbing back up the bed and resting her head on his chest.  “That was…” he spluttered, “Fuck, I love you.”

Cate laughed, “I love you too.”

“I love this by the way,” he said, running his hands through her shorter hair.  “The purple suits you.”

He lifted her up and laid her down on her back.  As he climbed up on top of her, Cate was so happy to feel that familiar weight pressing her deep into the mattress again, tears leaked out of the corners of her eyes.

“Hey,” he pulled back, “why are you crying?”

“No,” Cate protested, wrapping her arms around his neck.  “They’re happy tears, I promise.  I didn’t think I’d get to have this again.”

Kian kissed her damp cheeks, “I really hate seeing you cry, angel, even if they are happy tears.”

“Will you make love to me?” Cate asked.  “I need to feel you.”

He positioned himself at her entrance and then stopped.  “What’s wrong?” she asked.

“Once I’m inside you,” Kian groaned, “I don’t think I’m ever going to want to pull out.”

“Good,” Cate smiled.  “You’re kind of stuck with me now.”

He thrust into her, fitting his cock into her pussy like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.  Their bodies moved effortlessly together in matching rhythm, almost as if they were one and the same.  She could feel the broken pieces inside of her begin to heal, the skin knitting together, closing up the thick gashes across her heart.  He could break her heart but he could also put it back together again, maybe that’s what love really is.  She clung to him, opened herself up to his touch, his kisses, his love.  With their impassioned cries as a soundtrack, Cate opened her eyes to find Kian looking right back at her.  In his dark eyes, she saw her lover, her best friend, her home, her family.  She watched mesmerised as it surged between them, knowing without question that he felt the same.  Their hands dug deeper into each other’s flesh, sweat trickled over their bodies, gluing them together.  Even though her eyes remained open, as she jerked, her whole body electrified with innumerable volts, there was a flash of white unearthly light.

“Let’s go away somewhere,” Kian suggested the next morning, trailing kisses along Cate’s bare shoulder.

“Mm,” Cate snuggled back against him, “where?”

“I don’t care.” Kian wrapped an arm around her waist.  “Anywhere.  Just you, me and our girl.”

As they talked about all of the places they could go to, they heard Lola through the baby monitor.  “Mummy?”

Cate was about to get up when she realised that she didn’t have any clothes on.  “No, what if she comes running in here?” she panicked, trying frantically to find her underwear in the jumble of clothes on the bedroom floor.

“It’s OK, angel,” Kian said, gently smacking her bare bottom, which was stuck up in the air.  “I’ll go.”  He’d already found his boxer shorts and was pulling them up his thighs.  He grabbed his trousers.  “I can’t believe I’m saying this,” he winced, looking at Cate’s naked body, “but get dressed, I’ll see you downstairs.”

Cate rummaged through the wardrobe and eventually found an old pair of Kian’s pyjamas.  As she tugged them on, she realised that they were the same pair she’d “borrowed” a lot when she was pregnant with Lo – the navy blue t-shirt with yellow lettering and the plaid bottoms.

She could hear Kian talking to Lola through the baby monitor.

  “Daddy?”

“Come here,” Kian picked her up.  “Did you sleep well, baby girl?”

  “Where’s Mummy?”

“Mummy’s only just woken up.  How about we go downstairs and you can help me make breakfast, what do you say?”

“Mummy!” Lola beamed when Cate walked into the kitchen.  She had pancake batter smeared all over her face.

“Have you been helping Daddy?” Cate grinned, reaching for a cloth to wipe her daughter’s face.

“Those pyjamas look good on you,” Kian commented as she sat down at the counter next to Lola.

Cate met his eyes and then quickly had to look away.  Geez, he was smouldering.  Her lady bits were already demanding that they make up for lost time.  She tried to focus on something else but Kian wasn’t wearing a shirt and sweet heaven, she couldn’t drag her eyes away from the defined muscles on his chest.  She could still remember how they tasted.

“Hungry?” Kian chuckled.  He looked pointedly at her nipples, which were poking through her t-shirt.

Cate blushed and quickly folded her arms across her chest, “something like that.”

“Mummy, can I ask you a question?” Lola interrupted Cate.

  “You can ask, sweetheart.”

Lola leaned forward so she could whisper in Cate’s ear, “are we staying here now?”  Or are we going back to Granny Reen’s?”

Kian looked across and wondered what they were whispering about.  “We’re staying here.” Cate said.

“We are?” Lola said, doubtfully, “really?”

  “Really,” Cate insisted.

“Yay,” Lola had a huge smile on her face.  “Guess what Daddy?”

“What?” Kian put a plate of pancakes in front of both Cate and Lola.

“My birthday wish came true,” Lola said excitedly.  “We’re staying here.  We’re not going back to Granny Reen’s.”

“Is that right?” Kian asked, raising an eyebrow at Cate.

“Yeah,” Lola nodded, “Mummy said so.”

“She did, did she?” He came up behind Cate and wrapped his arms around her waist.  “Well, if Mummy said so…”

“Mummy did,” Cate confirmed, turning around to face Kian.  He captured her lips in a sweet kiss.

Lola pushed her little body between them, “Lola, hug.”

“Okay,” Cate and Kian broke apart, both of them laughing.  They wrapped their arms around Lola and each other, completing their family again.
