Willing: Book Three (Mystic Valley Shifters) by LC Taylor (13)

After tugging on my jeans, I wrapped my arms around Paul, he was still shirtless and the feel of his skin against my cheek left me breathless. I couldn’t believe that twenty-four hours ago I was out on a date with someone else. We parted and walked downstairs towards the kitchen.

“I’m going to grab a shirt. Meet me in the kitchen?”

“Don’t take too long, I don’t want to be apart anymore.”

Smiling at him as he walked down the steps to the basement, I turned and walked straight into Jensen.

“Well – looks like someone finally got off the pot.”

“Damn. Jensen, I didn’t hear you come in.”

“How could you? From the looks of it, you’re still in that sex haze. So, I take it he finally told you how he really feels?”

“Um… you could say that.”

“Could say what?” Dylan walked in, wrapping herself around Jensen.

“I’m in a sex haze,” blushing as the words left my mouth.

“OH MY GOD… did you an Dan have sex?”

“What? NO! Why on earth would you think I would ever sleep with him?”

“Wait… if not him, then who’s the sex haze from?” she arched an eyebrow at me.

The feel of strong arms pulling me into an embrace, “That would be my doing,” Paul nipped my ear.

“HOLY SHIT.” Dylan stood mouth agape, “Bout fucking time.”

Jensen clapped me on the shoulder, “Glad you finally pulled your head out of your ass. Carly, what’s this about a date?”

“Ugg, let’s not talk about that. Let’s just say I went to make Paul jealous… but the guy gives me a weird vibe. Besides, he never had a chance.” Spinning to face Paul, “this guy has always had my heart – he just didn’t know it.”

Capturing my lips with his, “I knew it, I was just scared to believe something so perfect could belong to me.”

“Awe, is this how we look?”

“Yep – gross isn’t it?” I winked at her.

“Ok, well, Paul… as much as I love the fact you two finally realize how stupid you were being. I need Carly. We need to iron out a few details for the wedding.”

“Fine – but I want her back in a few hours.”

Releasing me, he kissed me before walking towards the fridge, “I should probably feed her first… there’s a good chance she could get hangry.”

“Well – why don’t you just fix us all something. Lord knows we worked up an appetite too.” Dylan chuckled as Jensen smacked her butt.

“Well… that was more than we needed to know.”

Paul grabbed out some cold cuts and made several sandwiches. We sat at the table as we scarfed down the food.

“So, are you getting cold feet yet?”

“Cold feet? Hell no, I would marry her tomorrow…” Jensen reached across the table and laced his fingers with Dylan’s.

“Awe, that’s so sweet,” I blushed as our eyes met. I wanted that with Paul, he just needed time to adjust to this relationship.

My phone beeped, breaking the silent words, we shared. Grabbing my phone, my face morphing into a scowl.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing – it’s just…” I shifted in my seat nervously, “the guy I went out with just texted me. I tried to let him down easy last night, but he doesn’t seem to be taking no for an answer.”

I quickly typed a response to him, his response was almost immediate.

Sighing, “see what I mean?” I turned the phone to face me.

Dan: How about another date?

Me: I told you just friends. A date? No. I finally have what I want. I am so sorry.

Dan: So, what? You used me?

“Used him for what?”

“I told him I was in love with someone that didn’t notice me… maybe he thinks I used him to make you notice. And I kind of did, but I was upfront about my feelings from the start. Hell, I just met the guy.”

I began typing rapidly into my phone. Slamming it down when I finished, “That should make it clear to him.”

Dylan grabbed my phone, “Fuck Carly – could you have been any meaner?”

“Nope – I was nice last night. He forced a kiss on me and I had to be blunt. So, this is me not letting there be any confusion be present between us.”

Paul reached out, holding his hand open, “What did you say, Carly?” Dylan handed him over the phone.

Me: I am sorry if you think I used you. I was honest from the start. I LOVE SOMEONE ELSE. It was a mistake to go out with you. I offered a friendship, but now I am taking that off the table. Good luck with life.

My phone beeped in Paul’s hand, his expression told me the text was bad.
