Walking towards Jensen’s place, I couldn’t help but glance back at the main house. Why I had fought the destined mate pull over the last three years was mind-numbing. She was more than I deserved, but everything I needed. Giving a quick know at the door, Jensen snatched the door open.
“I was worried it would take you forever. Come in,” Jensen moved to the side waving me in.
“Thanks. Let’s make this quick, I’d like to get back to the warm bed waiting for me.”
“Yeah – I’m sure it’s the bed you’re waiting on. Carter is in the living room.”
Walking into their living room, Carter stood, “Paul – glad to see you didn’t set the house on fire.” He winked.
“The night’s still young,” turning to Jensen, “I didn’t tell you this at dinner – I didn’t want to freak out Carly. But whoever this Dan character is – he’s wolfen. I scented him all over the hallway.”
“Yeah, I caught that too. What do you know about him? Has Carly mentioned anything to you? Dylan said he’s a senior at the college. He supposedly moved back here to handle some family matter. She didn’t get his last name though.”
“Nah – I can’t say it came up,” smiling I shot a look at Carter.
“No, I wouldn’t say that’s what was up with you two.”
I tossed the couch cushion at him, “Bite me – you could have that too ya know.”
“We aren’t talking about my love life – or lack thereof. Let’s figure out what to do about this creep.”
“I’ll talk to Carly. Maybe she can find out what his last name is, as long as it doesn’t put her in harms way.”
We agreed to dig a little into Dan’s life – find out who he is. For now, I just wanted to get back to Carly.
“Ok – I’ll catch you guys later. Let’s meet tomorrow night after I’ve had a chance to ask around.”
“OK – but if you hear anything, let me know as soon as you do.”
Nodding I shook Carter’s hand, “Stop waiting for her – go after her.”
“Shut it, Paul. I can’t make her love me.”
“That’s the thing Carter – she already does.”
Walking with Carter towards the house, we talked about his destined mate, Kai. He wanted her more than anything, but like me – she fought it.
“What made you finally give in?”
“I couldn’t live with someone else touching her. So, I knew I needed to man up and tell her how I felt, leaving it in her court,” grabbing his shoulder, “and you know what. I am glad I did – give in. She wanted me – all of me. You know she asked me to claim her tonight. Fucking claim her Carter. You know what that means, right?”
“Yep – it means she loves you. Are you going to do it?”
“Yes – soon. I want to enjoy her first. I’m going to ask her to marry me. I don’t want to wait another minute without her as my wife.”
“Congrats man. you deserve this happiness.”
“Carter – you could have this too. Go tell Kai how you really feel. Maybe she doesn’t realize it’s more than attraction. The destined mate pull can be confusing.”
“Yeah – I’ll think about it. Go to your woman. We’ll meet up tomorrow once she goes to school. Maybe we should do some recon.”
“Sounds good. See you later.”
Walking through the door, I ran up the stairs, taking two at a time. The need to feel her skin was overwhelming. Carefully opening the bedroom door, I tiptoed into the dark room. My eyes adjusted, being wolfen I could see like it was daylight in the dark. She was fucking beautiful, snuggled up to the pillow. Her hair was scattered around her, the sheet drawn up to her shoulders. One leg was peeking out, the sheet barely covering her ass.
I stripped out of my clothes, walking to the side of the bed, and slipped into the bed next to her. Carefully I wrapped my arm around her, pulling her against me. The love I felt for this girl was mind blowing – I had been a fool to ignore them for long.
She shifted into me, letting out a moan. Kissing her neck, I pulled her tighter. I wasn’t about let her go now. This girl was mine now.
“Hey,” she whispered, “everything ok?”
“Yeah – go back to sleep. I’m here now.”
“I love you, Paul.”
“I love you.”
Snuggling into her neck, I drew in her scent. She was perfection. Listening to her breathing slow again, I knew she’d fallen back to sleep. I closed my eyes, listening to the soft rhythm of her breathing, before long I fell asleep with her tightly in my arms.
