Evex (Warriors Of Ition) by Maia Starr (21)

Chapter 6

Vicki Varsa

For the second time, I had blacked out. All I remember was the ship shaking violently and the sensation of falling. We had all buckled in the way that the arrogant blue alien had told us to do. But it didn't feel like this was simply hyperspeed. Sirens had been going on all around us, and we knew that something was wrong. But what could we do?

Now I opened my eyes. Looking up, I could see a pale green sky above me, like a mint color. I didn't understand it. I realized that I was moving like I was floating on something.

“Vicki?” I heard a whisper. I turned to my side to see Nancy lying beside me. She had a very frightened look on her face.

“Nancy? What is going on? What happened?” I asked.

“You are not going to believe it. So just take a look for yourself,” she whispered back.

I turned my head and slightly got up on my elbows. She was right. I did not believe what I saw. Nancy and I were inside of a large box with bars. But that was not the most shocking thing. It was what was marching alongside of the box and pulling it. They were men that looked like robots. They looked to be half man and half robot; could this be a cyborg?

I looked at Nancy. “What the hell are they?” I whispered.

“I don't know. I woke up in this box, the same as you. I can only assume we crashed on some strange planet. I don't know where the blue aliens are. These things seem to be robot and man.”

“Fuck. What about Bridget? Do you see her?” I asked.

“I do not know, unless she is in a different box, but I cannot see very well,” she said.

“I never thought I would say this, but I hope that she is with the aliens. I don't like the look of these,” I said.

“I agree,” she whispered.

“No talking!” a mechanical voice said as he hit his mechanical arm against the bars. His voice sounded like a computer. It was very frightening. Nancy and I quickly quieted down. We did not want to give them a reason to open the bars.

I took a good look at the robot man. His arms were covered in chrome all the way down to his hands. But only half of his face was covered in chrome, and the other half looked somewhat human—like they were wearing a phantom of the opera mechanical mass. The tops of their shoulders down to their abdomen was organic. Then from the waist down, they were covered in a material with boots, and I could not tell how much of that was mechanical. They were definitely cyborgs half organic beings and partly mechanical robot. I had never seen anything like it; it was scary. I very much preferred the tall blue aliens to these cyborgs.

I was scared for Bridget. At least I wasn't alone, but it was very much possible that Bridget was alone.

I looked at Nancy, and she gestured with her chin for me to look ahead of us. My eyes grew wide as I realized we were entering a camp of more cyborgs. Being around a few of them was frightening enough, but now we were going to be around a camp full of them.

“Take these two creatures to K8L,” one cyborg said to the other.

We were pulled towards a very large compound like a temporary dome.

“Tell K8L we found these two on the outskirts,” the cyborg said to another.

A few minutes later, a very large cyborg emerged.

“What is this?” he said in a computer voice.

“Mango, these two unusual creatures were found on the outskirts along with some wreckage. It appears that they have crashed on our planet of X003.”

Mango walked around us. He was examining us. I did not like the way his eyes stopped on me. He stared at me for a long time.

“What are you doing on X003? What do you want with the Vindon?” He said.

Nancy elbowed me. She wanted me to answer.

“I want nothing with you. We are not here on purpose. We were abducted and taken aboard a ship. The ship crashed here; that is all I know. Now if you will release us, we do not want to be prisoners,” I said putting my chin in the air.

Mango stepped toward me. He was frightening.

“I do not believe you, creature. You tell lies. You will tell me the truth one way or another,” he said.

“I do not lie to you. You don't need to call me a liar. Now get me out of here and let us go,” I said.

“You are stubborn, creature. I have never seen a creature like you before. I find it interesting. I will examine your body. I like the look of you,” he said reaching in and fingering my hair. I pulled back away from him.

“Put this one with the yellow hair in my tent. Take the other to the holding cell,” he said.

“No. Don't separate us. Nancy,” I said.

“Vicki,” she said. The box was opened, and two strong cyborgs pulled us apart and out of the box. I struggled, but it was no use. They were very strong. They were machines. I was pushed into the large tent while Nancy was taken away.

Suddenly I was standing in front of Mango inside his tent. We were alone. I was trembling as he looked at me up and down. His chrome finger ran down my arm.

"You have a no mechanical parts?” he said.

“No. I am not like you. Stop touching me,” I said.

“I am not all mechanical,” he said. I swallowed hard knowing exactly what he was trying to tell me.

“What are you called, creature? What type of creature are you? What planet are you from?”

I decided I would answer all of his questions. If I continued to talk, then it would stop him from doing anything else, I hoped.

“I am a human from the planet Earth. My name is Vicki,” I said.

“You said you were taken from your planet. Who took you?” he asked.

“I do not know the names of the ones that took me. I only know that they are not humans and that they have blue skin,” I lied. I knew that they were called Kynon and that the captain's name was Captain Alicron Qinov, but for some reason, I thought it was best to keep this information to myself.

“Mango. We have found more wreckage of a ship ten miles from here to the east,” a cyborg said as it walked into the tent.

Mango quickly turned his attention away from me. The information seemed to interest him very much.

“Get a search brigade together. I will lead this one myself,” K8L said as he followed the other cyborg out of the tent and began to give orders. I was relieved. He was now occupied with something else. But the fact that they had found more of the ship made me worried that more women would be here with me in no time.

“Vicki,” I heard a deep whisper. I turned behind me to see Captain Alicron Qinov crawling into the tent. I could not believe it.

“What are you doing here?”

“No time to answer your questions. Do you ever stop asking questions?” he said. “We have to get out of here.”

He began moving toward the door. I stopped him. “The leader of the cyborgs this out that opening,” I said.

"Then follow me this way,” he said getting back on the ground and sticking his head out underneath the tent. Then he motioned for me to follow him. I got down on the ground and crawled under the flap of the tent.

When I got to the other side, I realized it was a long alley of tents. Like a road.

“We have to get Nancy. She is here too, but I don't know where they're holding her,” I whispered to him.

“All right. We will find her. Follow me slowly and quietly,” he said grabbing my hand. He led me down the aisle of tents. But when we got to the end, suddenly there were shouts. I could tell that they found out that I was missing from the tent.

“This way,” the captain grabbed my arm and pushed me down into a small ravine. I rolled down, getting covered in dirt. When I landed, it was in soft mud. The captain rolled down with me and was soon covered as well. “Get down,” he said pushing me deeper into the mud. Everything except my nose and mouth so that I could breathe. I realize that we were in very deep mud, or at least I hope that's what it was. We were both covered in it. We could hear the cyborgs talking above us.

“I want the blonde creature. She called herself a human. Find her. She is mine. Do not rest until you have found her. I will never stop looking for her. I have never seen anything like her. Put more guards on the other one. We can't have her go missing as well. Go now!” the computer-like voice said. I knew that it was K8L. The captain was as still as a statue next to me. He was good at this hiding, and I realized that he was a soldier. He had done this sort of thing before. I felt safe all of a sudden. I was glad that he was at my side. But I felt really bad about Nancy. Now we would not be able to get her. Then the commotion seemed to move away from us. It was only then that the captain moved.

“Follow me. Stay low in the mud. If I stop, you freeze. This ravine goes all the way around and out of the camp. We are going to stay in it. We cannot get your friend now,” he whispered to me. I nodded my head yes. Then I followed him low on my belly, crawling through the mud like a snake. I could not believe that this was happening. I thought that being abducted by the tall blue aliens was the worst thing that could possibly happen. But now crash landing on this planet of hostile cyborgs was even worse. Especially because the leader had loudly declared that he wanted me. Now I had pissed him off by escaping. I did not want to know what he would do once he found me. We had to get out of there, not just out of the camp but also off the planet completely. But it seemed that the ship was in many places, and we would never be able to get off of the planet. Now I would have to work together with the tall blue alien that I had despised and hated simply so that I could survive and not be captured by the cyborgs. Now this captain was the only thing that could keep me safe, and I hated him. I hated him for taking me from Earth in the first place. But I had no choice but to remain at his side. I did not know where the other women were except for Nancy, and the only strength I had against the cyborgs was Captain Alicron Qinov. I hated that I had to stay with him to be safe.
