Chapter Nine

“All I needed was the love you gave

All I needed for another day

And all I ever knew

Only you” - Joshua Radin

I’ve been away for a few days on a run and I’m heading over to Chrissy’s tonight to take her out. We have been going on more short runs and changing up the brothers who will normally handle different things. Whoever the assholes are that are trying to ambush the drops, they’ve gotten too close for comfort a few times. There have been rumors that with as much as we’ve been getting hit, Pres is considering a lockdown. That would basically mean that you bring anyone important to you and the club to the clubhouse. No one leaves without an escort and no one rides alone.

Tonight I’m trying to let that shit go and focus on my girl. She is still pushing me away and it’s driving me fucking crazy. If I’m honest, I kind of like the fact that she constantly challenges me, as long as it isn’t in front of the whole damn club like she did at the party. I’m still getting crap from the boys about that and it’s the last thing I need. Ryder, Colt, Storm, Hunt, and me are still fairly new to the club. These guys have enough ammo. I don’t need her giving them more.

When we transferred in from the other club there were a handful of brothers who didn’t support the decision to let us. Our old club had attacked the Deathstalkers. The boys and I had been new recruits and were left at the clubhouse with our thumbs up our asses. We had no idea what the fuck was going on when Whip and the boys charged into the clubhouse and demanded our loyalty or our lives. We obviously chose to switch clubs, at least we hadn’t gotten tatted yet.

I’m trying my damnedest every day to prove myself and having her undermine me pissed me off. Part of it was my fault for springing that shit on her, but I told her for weeks that I was gonna make her mine, so she can’t say I didn’t warn her.

Walking up to the door I turn the knob and smile when I see it’s locked.

“You still haven’t learned how to knock?” I hear from the other side of the door. When it opens she is standing there in a pair of shorts and a low-cut t-shirt.

“You learned to lock the door.” My arms wrap around her at once. I take a step in the door kicking it closed with my foot. “I’m impressed.”

“Ah, that means my life’s goal is met,” she says, her sarcastic tone always present.

“Get your stuff, I’m taking you out.” I let go of her.

“Is that where I’m supposed to salute you and say ‘yes sir’?” She clicks her heels together and mocks a soldier’s stance.

“This is where you’re supposed to get your stuff before we don’t make it out the damn door.” I narrow my eyes at her and she laughs.

After a couple minutes, she comes out of her bedroom. “Aren’t you forgetting something?”

She looks confused, until I nod to the chair where her property jacket is hung. Her eyes roll as she tries to hide the smile on her face. “Ready. Do I get to know where we are going?”

“Nope.” I take her hand leading her outside to my bike. Having her on my bike, wearing my patch, is what I wanted since the minute I had a taste of her. The boys always joke how the women had them by the balls the minute they met and I never got it.

Now I do.

We ride up to one of the parks that overlooks the drive-in theater. She climbs off and I walk her to the top of the hill where you can still see the screen.

“Too cheap to buy a ticket?” She cocks an eyebrow at me. Damn this girl is always on.

I nod over to our left where there is a blanket and food set out. Megan helped me out with the food because Christ knows I can barely make a damn sandwich. One of the prospects brought all of my stuff up for me and set it up while I went to get her.

She looks back at me. “Aw, it’s like a super cheesy chick flick.”

“Shit, you ever gonna give me a break?”

“Probably not.” She laughs and then walks over to the blanket. “You do all this yourself?”

I nod. “I do good?”

“Yea, everything looks great. I have to say I’m impressed that Megan didn’t spill the beans when I was talking to her earlier.”

“What do you mean?”

She raises an eyebrow at me. “I mean these chicken things are her thing, she’s made them for every party we’ve ever had.”

Busted.

“Fine, I didn’t touch the food but you should be grateful for that.” I pull her over so that she’s sitting between my legs. “That’s better.”

“For who? Now I can’t reach the food.” We laugh and I tug the blanket bringing everything within arm’s reach for us.

“Don’t pretend like you aren’t impressed,” I whisper in her ear enjoying the way the goose bumps break out over her skin.

“Don’t pretend like you don’t love all the shit I give you.”

I pull her tight to me. “Does it feel like I’m trying to hide anything when it comes to you?” I’m hard just having her this close to me and I know she can feel it.

“No, it certainly doesn’t.” She turns so she’s on her knees facing me. “You trying to get me arrested for public indecency?”

“I’m not trying to do anything. In fact, if you want to take the lead, you can be my guest.”

“Nah, I think I’ll just watch the movie.” She laughs sitting back down between my legs.

I groan. “You’re enough to drive a man crazy, you know that?”

“Why do you think I tried to warn you? I told you, you couldn’t handle me.”

I make a quick move, flipping her onto her back and hover over her. “Now we both know that shit isn’t true.”

Her tongue darts out licking her lips. “Prove it.”
