Rock Me: Royally Complicated #1 by Katz, Avery (25)

24

Nathan

Today was the first day of the Jubilee celebrations here in Raplen. They sure knew how to party hard in this country. It was the Queen’s birthday so everyone was on vacation and people were drinking and throwing parties everywhere. Yesterday there was a huge parade with little girls dressed in red and white. They were distributing cakes and candy for free. I had a stomach ache from the ridiculous amount of desserts I ate. Last night, Danny took me out to dinner at his favorite Italian restaurant. The tension between us was unmistakable even though he was still mad at me. I wasn’t going to apologize for being honest with him. Hell, I could have easily lied to him about wanting to stay in the closet. Instead, I chose to be upfront about it from the start.

I stood in front of the mirror and stared at my reflection. Prince Charming was supposed to pick me up and take me to celebrate with his family. We were supposed to discuss things over dinner last night, but one thing led to another and we both ended up in my hotel bed. We made love until the morning. I wondered if the imprint of my hands was still on his sexy butt cheeks. Probably not. I’d never been that intense and heavy with a man before. Sex with Danny was on another level. It was sublime and just mind-blowing.

There was a light knock on my door. I instantly perked up and rushed to open it.

“Damn, Charming!” My eyes almost popped out of their sockets at the sight of him. He was dressed in his official royal attire. “You look like a Disney prince.”

He wore a red jacket suit and a blue sash with gold and black trimmings, a fob watch and lapels designed with the royal emblem. He had on a shiny black hat with gold trimmings and the emblem at the front too. He looked so fucking adorable. His outfit was custom tailored to fit his smokin’ hot body. I wanted to take him right there. Who needed a Jubilee when we could throw our own party in my hotel suite?

Danny must have recognized the = look on my face because he gave me that demure smile of his. “Keep your naughty hands to yourself.” He warned. “We’re going to be late if we don’t leave right this second.” He added. “You can have your wicked way with me when we get back. I’ll even leave my outfit on for you.”

“Please do.” I ambushed him with a kiss. He was too damn irresistible.

“You know I love you, right?” I whispered against his lips.

He smiled. “I love you too, baby.”

His ocean blue eyes were hesitant when he said those words. I knew he had reservations about us, especially since I still refused to come out of the closet. Our attraction was too fucking strong to ignore. I gave Danny a light peck on the lips and locked the suite door behind me.

A cherry red convertible was waiting for us downstairs. The driver held open the door for us.

“Are you sure it’s okay for me to ride with you?” I asked.

“Yes. We have the best seats to watch the parade from. Trust me.” He smiled reassuringly.

“Holy shit. How many parades are there?”

“Today? Just one.” He chuckled.

The Jaguar convertible drove us all the way to Lockridge Palace where we picked up Danny’s brothers. They had the same uniform on so I was basically the odd one out. It was fun seeing them interact with one another. Growing up, I always wondered if my life would have taken a different turn if I had siblings. Maybe we would have formed our very own band and I would have taken pride in my sexuality instead of hiding it. I pushed these thoughts to the back of my mind and watched the crowds wave at the motorcade. We were followed by another Jaguar with Danny’s cousins in it. There was a marching band in the front accompanied by a float decorated with tulips. The surrounding buildings were also draped in flags and fairy lights. The festive ambiance was very entertaining. I was in awe of it all. It was hella intimidating too. It also felt surreal to be in a motorcade next to three handsome princes.

Balloons and confetti rained from the sky as we toured the entire city. I observed Danny during the parade and noticed just how well he played his part. He was more Grace Kelley and less quirky in public. He was stoic and well mannered. Even the way he waved was elegant. No wonder he had fans from all over the kingdom.

I tried to do a little wave of my own but it just felt so fucking awkward. Danny flashed me one of his disarming smiles and I almost leaned over and kissed him. Loud, upbeat music filled the air as we made our final round, passing by a gorgeous lake surrounded by a sea of tents. According to Danny, people camped out here to watch the Jubilee fireworks.

The Jaguar stopped by an orphanage where a bunch of kids were waiting outside with flowers in their hands. The three princes climbed out of the car and greeted the kids. I watched Danny fuss over two girls. He was so humble and gracious. I thought of my own uncouth ways and realized just how different our lives were.

Danny was a prince with a title and responsibilities. While he was attending galas and royal parties, I was getting shitfaced at concerts and fucking groupies. He was confident in who he was and open about his sexuality. I, however, was the complete opposite of him.

The princes returned to the car armed with flowers and candy. I tugged on my tie, feeling doubt and insecurity creeping up on me. Danny offered me a piece of candy but I refused to take it, opting to sit back and brood for a while.

Could I ever fit into his perfect life?
