Billionaire's Amnesia: A Standalone Novel (An Alpha Billionaire Romance Love Story) (Billionaires - Book #9) by Claire Adams (27)

Chapter 27

Elijah

I woke and had a moment of panic, I couldn’t move my feet, and then I looked and could see Bo had positioned himself and had laid across the bottom of the bed. I laughed to myself and embraced the feeling of waking up next to Kendall.

I laid in bed and let my mind run over our conversation from last night, what if? That was the question I had asked myself. I looked at what had been said about my father, and I had looked at what had been said about my past, I could see there was a trend, and I had to a certain degree, just started to follow in his footsteps.

It worried me the more I thought about it. I had to do something to take my mind off these thoughts. I headed downstairs and entered the kitchen. Kendall had cooked breakfast for me, so I thought it was about time I showed her some of my culinary skills, I was no Master Chef, but I could make a mean omelet.

I heard a noise from the stairs and Bo bounded into the kitchen, “Morning Bo, you scared me this morning, I thought I had become paralyzed,” I said with a grin on my face.

I opened the kitchen door, and Bo ran into the garden, I could smell the freshness of the grass as it flooded into the kitchen, today would be a good day.

I turned back toward the stove, and Kendall stood leaning against the kitchen counter. She rubbed her eyes as she looked in my direction.

“A good start to the day I see,” she said as she stretched her arms above her head.

“It’s, a very good start, I can feel it in my bones,” I replied as I tossed the omelet.

“Smells good, I had no idea you could cook,” she said.

“A slave in the kitchen and a whore in the bedroom, that is what I am!” I said laughing.

“So, you would make a good wife then?”

“I’m not sure I could be a house husband, not enough excitement,” I replied before laughing softly.

“A woman’s work is never done, and never a dull moment. You should try it one day,” she said as she set the plates on the counter.

“I’ll stick to what I know best, I like to be in control of things,” I said taunting her as I placed the omelets on the plates.

“So, then Bossman, what do you have planned for us today?”

“I was going to send you home. You have spent the night, and that is enough for me,” I said before quickly following it up with, “Joking!”

I placed my hand on Kendall’s arm and smiled at her.

“The falls, let’s go to Niagara Falls, that would be cool,” Kendall said as she spooned a piece of omelet into her mouth. “Mmm, delicious,” she tried to add through a mouthful of food.

I raised my finger to make a point, “Great idea, I don’t know if I have ever been,” I replied with sarcasm as I sipped my juice.

“It’s cool, but we’ll get wet,” Kendall replied.

“I thought you liked getting wet with me!” She was so gorgeous in the morning.

“A bit too early in the morning for talk like that, and you missed your opportunity by getting up before me,” she replied laughing.

“Damn, a morning in bed would have been as good as this breakfast,” I replied.

“Wrong, it would have been better, this omelet has only lasted a few minutes, and I know you can last longer than that,” Kendall replied with a wink.

“It takes two to tango!” I removed the plates from the counter.

We readied our things and packed some extra clothes, the trip to the falls could get you soaked, Kendall had explained to me. I decided to leave the garage door open so Bo could remain in the garden, he would be alone all day so it would be much better for him to roam around rather than being stuck indoors all day.

“See you later Bo,” Kendall said as she walked toward the car.

We headed down the driveway and could see Bo sat watching as we faded into the distance and exited from the gate.

We arrived at the falls, and I pulled the car to a stop. We could see the mist from the falls rising up into the sky. We climbed out of the car and could immediately hear the water as it crashed into the river below us, the noise was deafening and we had to shout to be heard.

We wandered around the many viewing platforms and did all the usual things. I had the camera and took plenty of pictures, and Kendall was busy positioning us for selfies against the falls.

“We should go for lunch,” I shouted to Kendall.

“Yes,” she called through the noise of the water.

We located a quaint café where we could get out of the wet and dry our things. The weather was warm, but the mist from the falls just seemed to get everywhere and soak you to the skin, no matter how good your waterproofed clothes seemed to be.

We had a large mug of cocoa while we browsed the menu to see what we wanted for lunch and that made it easier to chat.

“So, Kendall, tell more of yourself, everything always seems to be about me and my past,” I said as I noticed her eyes.

“Well, what would you like to know?”

“Where you come from, what made you the person you are today and what brought you to the big city?” I sipped on my hot cocoa.

“Well, it’s not a very long story and not really a very interesting one by all accounts, I have always been quite a reserved sort of girl,” Kendall replied.

At least you, not a Nun, that’s the good thing,” I replied with a chuckle.

“I actually thought about it at one point, I was in the choir and used to watch the sisters come into the church while we practiced, they always looked so serene and at one with themselves, so that is where a lot of who I’m comes from,” she explained.

“What about your parents? I’m sure they are proud of you,” I asked.

I could see the look in Kendall’s eyes change. It looked like I had hit a nerve or a touch subject with her. I decided not to push too much and let her just tell what she wanted to.

“Hum, my dad, I never knew, so I have just grown up with my mother who is pretty cool, yet she has strong opinions on some things, and she never pulls her punches when talking,” Kendall explained.

“Ah, I see, so, I take it you are an only child then?” I asked as she lightened up on the subject.

“In school, I was always top of the class, where we lived was quite a trek to school, so I didn’t have the chance to mingle much outside of school,” she explained more.

“Did you live on a farm,” I asked as I leaned forward to listen to her answer.

“Yes, sort of, I had a horse and all that, much like any other country girl. I just had a bigger area to ride him on,” she said as she pointed at the menu.

“I just want one of those giant burgers,” she replied as she pointed to the triple stack and smiled.

“Wow you are hungry,” I replied as I looked at what I wanted.

“I think I’ll just have the chicken salad,” I replied.

“Make me feel guilty and fat, why don’t you,” she said as she closed the menu. "Chocolate milkshake to go with it.”

“I think I’ll opt for the root beer,” I said as I waved at the waitress.

The waitress came and took our order, and we continued to chat some more.

“So, you had any other jobs before this one,” I asked

“Yes, but they were dead-end jobs and wouldn’t really have led anywhere, and to use all my skills, I had to move to the city, and that was basically how I ended up working for you,” Kendall explained.

“Tell me, what was it like leaving your mother back in the town where you came from, did you find it difficult?” I asked as the waitress returned with our lunch.

“It was to start, yet she understood I had to grow as a person and had always said I should make my own decisions and stick by them, rightly or wrongly,” she explained as she started to munch on her burger.

I sat and listened, as Kendall filled in some of the blanks about her childhood, and how she had moved to the city. I sensed I was changing as a person, even if I had not known what the old me was like. I could see Kendall was more than relaxed enough to open up to me about some subjects that she must have found difficult to talk about.

We finished lunch and replaced our dry closed ready to venture on the boat trips at the bottom of the falls. We reached the bottom of the falls and grabbed our place on the boat. I held onto the railings as Kendall gripped my arm tightly as the boat headed off toward where the water was crashing into itself.

The spray was horrendous, and we could hardly see each other, Kendall gripped me tightly, as I placed my arm over her shoulder and pulled her toward me.

“I’m a bit scared,” Kendall shouted over the din of the water.

“It’s OK, I have hold of you tight,” I shouted back.

“Don’t ever let me go, OK,” she shouted.

“I’ll never let you go, not today, tomorrow or the next day,” I replied.

“What did you say?” Kendall asked.

“I’ll hang onto you always,” I replied.

“Nice to hear it,” she called as the boat slowly headed back to the jetty.

“Phew, that was exciting, and a bit wet,” I said

“It was, I have never done anything really exciting before, first the fair and nowhere, I’ll be an adrenalin junkie,” she said as she giggled.

I looked into Kendall’s eyes, “And I thought it was the impact I was having on you,” I replied.

“You may be having an impact on me, yet that is for me to know, and for you to find out,” she giggled.

“Comments like that can get you into trouble,” I said as we headed back toward the car.

“In that case, I’ll have to make some more comments like that,” she said as she laughed and climbed into the car.

We left the falls and headed home, we drove back around a more scenic route as the day faded, and we slipped into evening.

We arrived home, and I punched the code into the key panel and drove through the gate. I stopped the car and out of the trees, Bo came, and we could see his saliva flying from his mouth as he bounded toward us.

We entered the house as the night started to close in, and I stood close the Kendall. We gazed into each other’s eyes and smiled. It had been a great day together, and we had got much closer to each other.

I raised my hands toward Kendall and grabbed hold of her blouse, I pulled her closer toward me and slowly started to unbutton her top. I slid my hands inside her shoulders, and let her blouse fall to the floor.

I could hear Kendall sigh in anticipation as I reached for the button on her jeans. I slowly began to unfasten them and let them slip them from her legs. Kendall stood before me in her panties, and smiled sensually.
