Finally, Phillip: Rakes vs. Wallflowers by S Cinders (7)

Threw her down and plowed right in… Daniel

CHAPTER 6

“It was the damnedest thing,” Daniel was three sheets to the wind, or there was no other way he would have been confessing such embarrassing things to his compatriots. However, they were all too often three sheets to the wind.

The gentlemen had been out on the town, celebrating, or perhaps commiserating, the past few days of perhaps the most bizarre behavior they had ever encountered by some of the most innocent well-bred young misses in the Ton.

“She was rubbing up against me like a bloody courtesan, in the middle of Stewart’s ballroom, with her mother looking on!” Daniel tipped the bottle he currently held in his hands and realized too late that it was empty. “Damn, why are all your bottles empty, Northland?”

“Because all the alcohol is residing in your gullet,” Benjamin replied dryly, a little more present than his cohorts.

“I about threw her down and plowed into her right there on the dance floor,” Daniel frowned. “But that would be bad form, wouldn’t it?”

Phillip spoke up for the first time, “Something is going on, for there has been a decided change in the women in town.”

“What are you going on about?” Benjamin squinted at him.

“Never you mind, Ben. Drink up, and I will get to the bottom of it. I am certain that the curvy blonde temptress will know exactly what is going on. Somehow, she always seems to know what is going on.”

“I could use a curvy blond temptress!” Daniel grinned.

Phillip felt a surge of possessiveness overtake him, “Not this one.”

“You said that Giselle was free game?!”

Phillip frowned, “Giselle? Oh, her…. I haven’t the slightest clue whose bed she is warming these days, Dan. You will most likely have to get in line.”

“If you are not speaking about Giselle, then who are you thinking of?” Daniel watched his friend more closely, noting his fists clench and his mouth tighten. Whoever this girl was, she was not just some mistress to him - she was someone important.

“Someone who invades your thoughts and dreams when you least expect it. It’s that someone who grates on your nerves because you know that they can change the very world that you exist in and, perhaps, change the very person that you are. That knowledge shakes you to the core. That type of someone is to be avoided at all costs, and yet that very someone draws you to them like a moth to a flame. It is uncomfortable and pleasurable all at the same time.”

“Hell, I don’t want to ever meet that type of someone,” Benjamin blurted out.

Phillip let out a ghost of a smile, “Neither did I. But once you do, there is no going back.”

Phillip stood up and waved his goodbye before leaving his friends to their drink.

“I didn’t want to say it, he would probably would have shot my head off, but it sounds an awfully lot like love, doesn’t it?” Daniel asked.

Benjamin looked serious for a moment, and then busted up into laughter, “The day that the great Phillip Randall declares that he is actually in love with one woman alone, I will give up being a bachelor.”

“Don’t even joke about that, man!” Daniel looked appalled.

Benjamin laughed even louder, “I cannot help it. You and I both know that Randall is a womanizer of the worst sort. He has slept his way through half of London, and at times with more than one woman in his bed. He is a rake through and through. No, my friend, the man could never ever possibly fall for one woman.”

Daniel didn’t look convinced, “I hope that I do not find myself standing up at your wedding anytime soon.”

“You have had too much to drink, my friend. It is either that, or you need a woman yourself. How about I get some girls in?”

Daniel grinned, “Best idea you’ve had all night.”

******

As Phillip left Benjamin’s home, he couldn’t help but think about Lady Eden. Her smile that came out of nowhere. The little dimple that appeared in her left cheek, as if an afterthought, but perfectly placed. Her eyes were so expressive. She would be a terrible poker player. He both loved and hated seeing her at Stewart’s ball the previous Friday night. Her eyes automatically brightened upon seeing him, and his cock responded thankfully… traitor. All he could do was to stand inconspicuously behind his mother, of all people. That had helped to cool his adore.

But his mother had been going on and on about his responsibilities to marry ever since she had come into town. Phillip had no intention of marrying. He had never been faithful to anyone and had no desire to try and be faithful to anyone. What was worse, his mother had Eden at the top of her list of future brides.

During their brief conversation at the ball Phillip couldn’t help but picture her on their wedding night. Her hair spread across his pillowcases, his sheets, and his chest. Her large breasts - what he wouldn’t give to caress them, to tease them into aching points, to suck and lick and bite them until she screamed out his name. And he was back to hiding behind his mother. It was pure torture.

Thank heavens, his mother hadn’t insisted upon him dancing with her, or there would be no hiding then. This was a mess. He couldn’t reach Elias either. But when he found that bastard, he was running him to ground. He could picture him laughing his arse off, and Phillip had a good enough sense of humor to admit that this was a very shrewd move.

Something had to be done. Phillip just hadn’t the foggiest idea of what he was going to do yet. But he would. There would be a game plan. He would come out on top. He always did.
