Gravity (Savages and Saints Book 2) by C.M. Seabrook (29)

Chapter 32

Kade

Nerves wrack through me as I wait for Sophie and Lola at the bottom of Space Mountain, throngs of people weaving around me. All I can think about is the surprise I have planned. And I hope to God Sophie likes it.

It’s been months since her accident, and while her body healed quickly, I know there are some emotional scars that will never go away. I wanted to make this vacation special, and what I have planned could only be done at Disney World.

“That was so much fun,” Lola says as she runs towards me. “You have to try it, Daddy.”

Sophie’s grin is just as big as Lola’s. “I think he’s too scared.”

I snort and let her think she’s right. The truth is I’ve been on my cell half the day, trying to make sure everything is organized.

“Can we do it again?” Lola begs, tugging my hand and trying to lead me to the end of the enormous line again. “Please.”

I wrap an arm around Sophie’s waist. “Actually, I have something else planned. How about dinner with princesses?”

“Really?” Lola and Sophie exclaim in unison, their brows rising.

“You even get to dress up.”

Lola claps her hands excitedly. “I love you so much, Daddy.”

I chuckle, taking both of their hands and leading them towards our destination.

Snow White and the princess from Sleeping Beauty whom I can never remember the name of meet us as we come into the building.

“This is where I leave you,” I say before pressing a kiss against Sophie’s lips.

“You’re not staying?” She frowns at me.

“I have to get ready, too. But only princesses are allowed through those doors.”

“Do you know how much I love you?” Her arms wrap around my neck and she kisses me hard, causing Lola to make fake gagging sounds.

“Come on, Sophie.” Lola bounces on her toes.

“Okay.” She smiles over her shoulder at me before disappearing through a pair of French doors.

“Are you ready, sir?” The woman, who I’d been on the phone with all morning, says.

“Yes. Your employees know not to say anything?”

“They’ve been informed it’s a surprise. And your guests have already started to arrive. If you’ll just follow me.”

I’m lead through a series of doors into a spacious room where my brothers, father, and Zee wait for me.

“There he is,” Zee says, smacking my back when I enter. “Nervous?”

“I wasn’t until about an hour ago.”

“You shouldn’t be,” my brother, Jasper, says, handing me a glass of champagne. “Hell, even I’m impressed. I didn’t know you had a romantic bone in your body.”

A smirk tugs at my lips. “I just hope Sophie sees it the same way.”

“Are you kidding?” Damon says, adjusting his tie like it’s a noose around his neck. “She’d marry you in an empty field if you asked her.”

“The trouble is he hasn’t asked her.” Abbott shakes his head. “It takes some balls to do all this without even knowing if she’ll say yes.”

“She’ll say yes,” my father says, grinning.

They aren’t helping with my already frazzled nerves.

“What if the dress doesn’t fit?” Abbott sits in a lounger and tilts his beer to his lips, and I know he’s loving getting me going.

“It’ll fit,” I say as I start undressing.

“Did you tell Lola yet?” Damon asks.

“Are you kidding? She’d never be able to keep it a secret. Plus, I wanted to surprise them both.”

“It’s been killing Quinn to keep it to herself.” Zee helps me with my suit jacket.

“Which is why I almost didn’t tell her,” I say, chuckling. “But I wanted you all here.”

I flew my whole family, along with Sophie’s friend, Kristiann, and her son to Florida. There have been a few times when I thought my whole plan would fall apart. The most recent was this morning at the park when Sophie swore she saw Abbott getting off of Splash Mountain.

When I’m finally dressed, Zee hands me the ring box and gives me a goofy grin.

“Showtime,” he says.

I swallow hard, nodding.

Sophie and I have talked about spending our lives together, and she’s been living with me since she came home from the hospital, but I haven’t officially asked her to marry me.

“Tell me again that this is romantic and not stupid,” I say to Damon as the others file out of the room.

“She’s going to love it. Trust me.” He winks before following the others out.

I shake off the last of my insecurities, because they have no place around Sophie.

She’s proven her love, her faithfulness.

She’s the second beat of my heart.

Lola. Sophie. And while I know her heart has a third beat, Noah, I hope that one day we can add to the symphony. I know she wants more children, and I want to have them with her.

Our love is a pressure inside my chest, growing with every step I take towards my future.

Today is about one thing, our future, and making sure my two girls are the happiest princesses in the entire park.
