Chapter 33
Edge appeared in the tree not too far from the Morgan’s home in Ireland. The demons had been coming for them full force and he was determined to put a stop to it all. He had too much other shit on his plate to worry about piss ant demons coming for his family. He watched six demons circle a small patch of land. He looked at the ground to see two small shifters running for their lives. “Damn it!” He growled as he leapt into the air his wings sprung out behind him.
He took off like a rocket for the two shifters. The demons started dive bombing the shifters. Pumping his large wings as fast as he could Edge flew into two of the demons knocking them from the sky. As they landed one of the shifters blasted the demons head making it exploded into a fiery ball.
“Don’t stop!” The male shifter said to the other a small female.
“I hadn’t planned on it Wolf.” She said looking up to see Edge and the other demons. “Oh my god! It’s a fucking Kanon demon!” She said in high pitched tone.
Wolf rolled his eyes. Right a Kanon demon those things were just stories to scare the shit out of people. No one had ever seen one. Lillian was just being dramatic all those books she read. “How the hell do you know what one looks like?” He said as they ran for looking for safety.
“Because it just showed its true form!” She said as three more demons hit the ground next to them. Their wings and heads were removed.
Wolf looked up to see a thing in the sky that was only a skull with bat wings. “Holy shit! A Kanon demon!” He said as the last demon hit the ground in twisted decapitated hep.
Edge circled the shifters in the sky his true form covered in blood and guts. Licking his lips he grinned. It was good to be him sometimes. He’d been locked in his secondary form for too long. The blood lust in him was so strong now he was almost scared of himself, but eating these demons helped a bit. He shifted into his secondary form and landed in front of the shifters who skidded to a halt.
Wolf put himself in front of Lillian. He eyed the Kanon demon. He’d never seen one before and he had no idea how to kill one, but he’d die trying. “We do not want any trouble.” Wolf said.
“Nor do I.” Edge said. “You are on my family’s land.” Edge said looking at them. “How did you get past our wards?” He asked them.
“We don’t even know where we are.” Lillian said.
Edge wasn’t buying it. “Ireland.” He replied.
Wolf’s eyes bugged. “Ireland? How in the hell?” He asked Lillian. “We were in Mexico being chased by some mutant creature thing. A black hole kind of thing opened in front of us and the creature knocked us into it. We came out here just in time for those things you killed to see us.” Wolf said still letting it all sink in.
Great another time rift. Edge had closed enough of those lately it was getting old. Small ones he could manage to seal, but he was running out of blood to do it. He needed to feed and soon to be strong enough to help with Jared. “Do not worry I will not harm you. Have you tried ghosting back to where you came from?” He asked them.
“No we haven’t. It’s been hard to do it right.” Lillian said.
Edge frowned. Well that was lovely, how would he get them back to where they came from. “If you keep going there in a small village a few miles ahead of you. It’s a safe place for shifters. If you tell them you were helped by The Morgan Clan you should be able to get food and board at the small inn there.” Edge said.
Wolf looked at him a little shocked. “Why would you help us? You don’t know us.”
Edge nodded. “I don’t, but I don’t have the time to get to know you either. I have my own problems. And if I something happens in the village I will know who did it. And I’ll find you.” Edge said grinning at them. “And meeting me as an enemy is not the wisest thing you can do. The demons were much stronger than you two and you see what I did to them. That was in the sky what would I be able to do on land?”
Lillian’s face went white. “We will not harm anyone.” She said in shaken tone.
“Good now go. Before anything else tries to eat you.” Edge said taking off into the sky again.
Wolf and Lillian blinked and headed for the village. Once there they were horrified to see everyone one in it was slaughtered. “We must go back.” Lillian said.
“What if he thinks we did it.” Wolf said.
“We have no choice. Do you have your phone with you? Take some photos of it or video maybe that’ll prove we had nothing to do with it. The dead have been here for days. Nothing is a fresh kill.” She said.
Wolf took his phone out and as he was turning it on there was a swooshing sound and he turned to see a large creature that had body of a black bear and the face of a jackal. Its eyes were pale blue. Its fur was matted, and blood covered. The creature slashed its claws into Lillian’s back. Wolf let out a scream. He watched as the creature sliced Lillian into two like a holiday ham. Both halves of her slumped to the ground with a wet thud. “No!” Wolf screamed and blasted the creature with everything he had in him.
The creature let out a blood curdling noise. As it started to go up in flames. The whole time Wolf’s phone recorded what was happening as it lay on the ground. Wolf’s body started to vibrate with rage as blue light came from him making the shape of a wolf. The wolf howled an went for the creature flying through it as it did the things heart came out its back, then dropped to the ground dead. Wolf stood there seething with rage. The blue wolf that came from him circled Lillian’s body howling.
Edge was almost back to the house when he felt something odd. A power spike and then he heard it the howling. He changed course and headed towards the howling. When he got to the village he watched Wolf take out some kind of creature. Landing not to far from Wolf he approached him. “I’m sorry.” Edge said as Wolf knelt by Lillian’s body.
“It happened to fast.” He said as tears started down his cheeks. “I don’t even know what that thing was.” He said staring up at Edge.
“I shouldn’t of sent you both here without coming with you. I had no idea this place was unsafe.”
Wolf’s blue wolf started moving faster in a circle over Lillian’s body pushing it together and making it whole again. Once it was it went back into Wolf’s body. Wolf gathered Lillian’s body in his arms. “She was my mate. We hadn’t bonded yet, because she was scared she’d get me killed.” He said pushing her dark hair from her face.
Edge’s heart sank a little. “Come with me. I can offer you a place to stay and a place to keep her body till you can bury it.” Edge said thinking about Serra and Jared. Edge had never had anyone in his life like that. And after seeing the pain Serra and Wolf went through he didn’t want it. He needed to get Jared back not only for his mate, but for his children. The fight that was coming they needed the panther. Even if he was first class asshole and seemed to have a death wish. And maybe this new comer could be some help. Not many shifters knew how to use their animals like that.
