The Judge (Secret Garden Novel - book Book 1) by Katherine Laccomt (7)

Noah

Alyssa comes back to the dining room through the kitchen. That’s odd. She sits next to Chris and he says loudly, “Are you serious?”

“Is there a problem, Aly?” I ask.

She shakes her head, “No…”

“Where’s Maddie?” Rebecka asks.

“She left.”

Ben and Becka ask why at the same time, and my sister explains, “She had to leave, it was something important. Becka, she said she’ll talk to you as soon as she gets home.”

“She must have gone help one of her clients,” I say with irony. The two girls exchange a look that left the others lost. Carly asks what she does for a living, and I reply, “She’s a kind of love therapist ...”

“No,” Rebecka corrects me, looking at me with an ugly face, “She’s a counselor, that’s all. And they’re not clients, they’re friends.”

The silence over dinner is scary. There’s something going on, up until a while ago, everyone was smiling and having fun. After dinner, we went to the living room. Well, Becka, Carly and I, the others went somewhere else.

“What’s going on, Rebecka? Suddenly, everyone at the table is silent and now they disappear. And you’re so quiet...”

“I’m just worried about Madison, and I believe the others are too,” she says.

“That’s nonsense,” Carly says, “She left because she wanted to.”

“I only invited you all here to the country house to reminisce about the old days and to get a chance to get to know your girlfriend, Noah,” Rebecka looks at me and Carly, “Madison was also my guest because, like everyone here, she works hard and deserves a break. I didn’t care for the way you talked to her, Carly, and I’ll give you some advice. If you want to be part of Noah’s world, you need to accept his friends,” she gets up and turns to me, “And some advice to you, if you want to keep having friends, open your eyes, because they’re getting tired of all this.”

The next days were quiet and, somehow, very strange. In the end, I ended up arguing with Carly, she needs to understand that my friends are also part of my priorities in life. She started crying, saying that I don’t want anything serious, that I’m just using her. Well, when I invited her to move in with me, I told her how it was going to be. She said Yes, now she has to deal with it!

I’m not in a good mood today. I woke up and just left, without breakfast, straight to the Office. When I got here, I saw Robbie at her desk, with her usual bright smile. I went into my Chambers only to find Madison in a dress, hunched over my desk, leaving that ass exposed, making even a priest think of sin. I close the door, and she’s startled and straightens herself up.

“Good morning, Judge Lancaster. I didn’t expect you so early.”

While she talks, I look at her body in that black dress, the cleavage with those full breasts trying to break free. Shit! Take your eye off, Noah. Embarrassed, she puts on her blazer and covers herself, leaving nothing to my imagination.

“Good morning, Madison. Please order me a complete breakfast. I have a meeting in an hour.”

“Yes, Sir. Right away.” She leaves, and I stay with my thoughts. It wasn’t the smartest idea to bring her to work with me. Madison is a beautiful woman, fucking hot, and the fact she’s always challenging me makes everything even more exciting.

I spent the rest of the weekend with the sight of her in that black bikini hammering in my head, her body brushing against mine, her delicious scent, a striking scent, strong like she is. I even dreamed I was undressing her, like a teenager going through puberty. I kept thinking: what made her go away, what happened to make her just leave like that without even saying goodbye to us? The fact that Christopher, Ben, and Alyssa spent all their time talking, ignoring Carly, and me, it also made me worry.

Madison comes back with my usual breakfast and the coffee just the way I like it. She arranges things at the meeting table and waits, without saying a word. Harriet instructed her very well. I sit down at the table and invite her to join me, but she refuses.

“Why did you leave that day, without even saying goodbye?”

“Because I wasn’t feeling well.”

“Was that it, or did you have some sorry girl to attend to? In any case, it was very rude of you,” I say, and then I feel bad for doing it, “Sorry, Madison. It’s just that... This day hasn’t started off so well...”

“What?” she smiles, ironically, I think, and says, “Morticia didn’t play with Cousin Itt last night? That’s frustrating...”

“Show some respect, Miss Harver,” I lost my appetite and patience, “This is not the club, where you can talk as you please. I am the boss here, I’m in charge of everything and you’re nothing but a prototype of a criminal doing your time.”

“Yes, Your Honor,” She goes to the door and, before leaving, she turns around with a lost girl’s look on her face, pushing my buttons, “Are you going to fire me?”

“No,” I run my hand through my hair, “As much as I wanted to, Madison, I cannot.”

“Thank you,” she whispers.

Soon, two members of the Judiciary Committee arrive for our meeting, that extends past lunch time. As soon as they leave, Madison comes in with her head down and serves my lunch, as Harriet always did. She knows I don’t like to go to restaurants, there’s always someone wanting to chat, an unoccupied photographer or even some woman trying her luck.

Later, I’ll call her and apologize for being rude. Madison confronts me, and it pisses me off, it gets to me. Sometimes, like a few moments ago, I just want to put her on my lap and hit that ass of hers. The scenario in my head changes quickly, Madison naked on my lap, rubbing against me and asking me to fuck her. Oh shit!

Then, the Red’s revenge begins. Everyone on list of people who I won’t answer decided to call and she passed them along to me. All of them! I had to talk with two lawyers I despise, because Madison decided to punish me for being rude to her. At least, the two fuckers received a warning each. By late afternoon, my head was exploding, and I wanted to kill Madison.

When the last jerk decided to leave my Office, I went in search of that miserable redhead and found her in the archive room, telling jokes to people who should be working, not laughing. As soon as they saw me, laughter ceased, and Miss Big-Mouth went on. Everyone was awkwardly embarrassed, and no one told her I was standing there.

“Do you know the difference between other judges and Judge Lancaster? The first ones think they’re Gods and Judge Lancaster is sure of it!”

“Very amusing, Miss Harver. My Chambers, now!” I leave, with her behind me. I go inside and step aside for her to get through, then, I close the door. I walk over to my desk and sit down. “What the hell are you doing, Madison?”

“I’m not doing anything, Judge Lancaster,” she says.

“I don’t understand why you have this need to infuriate me,” I take a deep breath.

“No, no. You’re the one that does this to me,” she leans against the back of the chair, facing me.

“Me?” I ask.

“Yes, you. Earlier today, you asked me why I left that day, but you didn’t give me a chance to answer. You simply hammered down your jokes and laughed. Scorn hurts, Sir. The only way I know to defend myself is by attacking. Everyone says you’re the best, you’re a great boss, but to me, so far, it was not the case.”

“Okay,” I close my eyes and take another breath, “I’ll try to be more condescending to you. No more jokes, why did you leave like that?”

“Do you really want to know why?” I nod. She gets closer. “Because your wife, girlfriend, whatever, went to my room to insult me. Your sister was with me, you can ask her.”

“Carly?” I ask, puzzled.

“No, Princess Diana,” Madison raises her hand, “Sorry, I’m sorry. It’s kind of automatic.”

“What did she say?” I need to know.

“You can ask her, or Alyssa. My shift is over. Can I go?”

“Yes, you can. Good afternoon, Madison.”

“See you tomorrow, Noah,” she smiles and looks even more beautiful.

I try to focus on some work, but I just can’t. I need some time to think, preferably, away from everything. I head to the garage, get into my car and drive to the penthouse. I take off my suit, tie, and open my shirt. Then, I pour myself a glass of whiskey and sit on the couch.

I’ve never been a man of deep feelings. I believe in love, I believe in loving and being loved, but I don’t believe that relationships based on love alone can last. To me, Noah, chemistry, respect and loyalty, are the perfect match for a long-lasting and successful relationship.

My relationship with Carly was never a burst of passion, and the maturity I saw in her, toward us, was what kept me going. She was constantly working in Washington, and I was always here, so we went days without seeing each other and every encounter was steaming hot. There was a time when the guys pushed me away, and to be honest, I never understood why, but I was okay with that, we got along with each other and we were working to make this a long-lasting relationship.

But something went wrong after we decided to live together. I explained to her that nothing would change and that her presence would be important to Alyssa. Now Carly is freaking out, Aly is drinking, and I’m filled with lust for that devilish redhead. I always knew that my friends didn’t get along with my girlfriend, but I believed that, at some point, they’d get to know her better and accept her, like they accepted Becka.

Except that Carly has been acting strange, and now I’m left wondering: has she always been like this? Have I been blind all this time? If you ask me if I love her, I’ll have to answer truthfully, no, I don’t love her. I believe in compatibility, and we were compatible. After we moved into the mansion, which she insisted on, things have gone downhill. She doesn’t travel away anymore, she just stays at the house, and there’s no more steaming sex going on. She just complains, nonstop, about everything, and this is wearing me out.

The image of Madison’s bikini comes back to haunt me. My cock enjoys that memory. From the day she brought Aly home, that big mouth won’t leave my thoughts, and after that weekend, when I felt her on my skin, I haven’t been the same. I don’t know if it’s my abstinence or the fact that she constantly challenges me, I only know that I need to have her, and I need it bad. I’ve already pictured that mouth wrapped around my cock, my fingers entwined in that red hair...

I look at the clock and see that it’s late, so I decide to go home. On the way there, I turn on the radio as loud as I can to scare away inconvenient thoughts. As if I could forget that pair of boobs bouncing around in the pool. Losing my Religion from REM fills the car and the more I try to escape thoughts about that redhead, the more they haunt me.

I park in the garage, tomorrow I’ll get myself another car, I want something sporty like Ben’s. Maybe a Porsche or a Ferrari. I’m going to ask Carl to stop by the Office tomorrow. Maybe I’ll get Alyssa a new car too, I’m tired of seeing that yellow bug, she needs something safer, like a Nissan Rouge. I walk into the kitchen and find my sister sitting on one of the stools, sipping tea.

“Good evening, Aly.”

“Good evening, Your Honor. Where did you run off to? Fleeing the women of your life?” she asks with mockery. I sit beside her, she gives me a kiss on the cheek.

“Good evening, Noah. Can I get you anything?” Martha comes in and asks.

“A beer, Martha. Thank you,” I turn to my sister, “What exactly happened to make Madison leave that day?”

“Why don’t you ask your girlfriend? She was there, and she knows what happened.”

“Please, Aly, just tell me,” I insist.

“Madison was talking to me when Carly came in and accused her of coming on to you. She told her to stay away and called her a whore and a prostitute with that usual arrogance.”

“How come I never saw that side of Carly? She’s always been so polite,” I say, more to myself than to her.

“Look, Noah,” Alyssa goes to the sink and puts her cup inside, then, turns to me, “Rebecka thinks you should find these things out on your own, but I’m your sister. Carly has always been like that, but when she’s around you, she wears a mask. She only tolerates Ben and Chris because they’re as important and famous as you are. The woman barely tolerates me, please...”

“The day you got drunk, what happened?”

“That’s beside the point, Noah. Don’t worry about it. Good night,” Aly leaves, and I’m alone with my beer. Soon, Martha comes back, and I intercept her.

“Martha, how long have you worked with me?”

“Five or six years now. Why, Sir?”

“Answer me truthfully,” I say, looking seriously at her.

“I always do, Noah,” she replies with the same seriousness.

“Has Carly always been like this, or just these last few days?”

“People are who they are but, every once in a while, they strive to get what they want, and when that happens, what we see is not always what we think we’re seeing.”

“You didn’t answer my question,” I say with frustration.

“Yes, I did,” she smiles, “And I was very honest too. But there are things, Noah, that we only see and hear when we want to. Good night.”

I went straight to the guest room. Took off my clothes for a quick shower and went to bed. Before I fell asleep, I remembered how close I was to Madison. “I’m not afraid of getting burnt, Mr. Judge...” Right now, I’d give anything to know how she tastes like.

I have to constantly kick myself to remember that I have a girlfriend and that Madison is my employee. Even though Carly has been a fucking pain, I’m with her. And it’s not right to get involved with that redhead at work, it’s not right to mix business with pleasure. Still, I sleep with that fiery hair in my thoughts...

*****************************

The week passed by too slowly for my taste. Running away from the redheaded temptation was no easy task, even for the strongest of will. I hate the Charity commitments that wealthy people host for their own benefit, and not to the hundreds of children in a vulnerable situation out there. While they sit and pose for pictures as philanthropists, children sit on the streets begging for food. But, as the good judge that I am, I’m forced to make this kind of sacrifice.

Carly wouldn’t miss the chance to rub elbows with High Society, she never made a point of hiding her passion for this world. This tuxedo is suffocating me, I really don’t fit in this kind of event. My luck is that Christopher was also forced to come, so I don’t have to hide my impatience the entire night. I look at him and his future bride, Audrey, a beautiful, and very dear, woman. If I didn’t know him, I’d say he’s satisfied, but that lost look in his eyes says otherwise. He approaches me.

“Carly said you’re interested in buying a house here in the Hamptons. The Hudson house is for sale.”

“Hudson?” I try to remember the house, “In front of yours?”

That’s the one.”

“Actually, I was thinking of something more on the hillside, away from all the crowd, especially in the summer. I want a place to rest, not to stay awake all night.”

“Alright. How’s Madison doing?” he asks, with a lot of interest.

“She’s doing very well. Madison is an excellent professional, she’s very clever and handled Harriet’s absence very well,” I make a face, “But that’s a difficult woman.”

He smiles. By the way, just talking about Madison with him or Benjamin brings smiles to their faces.

“I’ve been meaning to say something since the weekend, Madison left because of Carly and honestly ...” he says, very serious, “I’m Team Madison.”

“Christopher,” I stare at him, “Did you ever give Carly a chance?”

“That weekend was one of many chances, and what did she do? She offended Madison, twice. One of those times, right in front of you. And, seriously, I hope you put her in her place. That night, Madison left all alone, God knows what her state of mind was, driving away like that.”

“Why are you so eager to defend Red, Christopher?” his concern triggers a warning in me.

“Because she’s one of the few people I care deeply about and, especially, because she’s a very honest woman. She would never wear masks to deceive people.”

He goes away, with his girlfriend beside him, and leaves me with my thoughts. Rebecka’s voice rings in my ears once again, “And some advice to you, if you want to keep having friends, open your eyes, because they’re getting tired of all this.” I look around me and watch these people that I’d never want in my world, and yet, here I am, in their world. At what point in my life did I turn away from who I really am?

“Darling,” Carly comes over and hugs me, “Are we staying at a hotel or at Chris’? I’m dying to see what the O’Donnell Palace is like from the inside.”

“I’m going home,” I answer, not looking her in the eyes. And, as usual, she freaks out.

“Don’t be an idiot, Noah. Let’s take this opportunity to do some networking...”

Her unnecessary comment makes me laugh.

“I don’t need to network with anyone, Carly. They want to network with me. If you want to stay, that’s fine. I’m going home,” I leave without saying goodbye to anyone. I get in the car, followed by Carly, who’s talking again.

“Why…”

“If you want to come, you’ll have to keep quiet. I’ve already heard too much bullshit from your mouth today,” I interrupt.

The long ride home was filled only by my playlist. No discussion, no dissatisfaction, no complaints. It was so good I even got hard because of the silence. I park my car in the garage and see that there’s a strange car parked there. Alyssa must have brought some girlfriend to spend the night with her, believing I’d stay there for the night.

I go straight to the bedroom to take off those clothes that were killing me and Carly starts to complain again.

“Why are you acting like this, Noah?”

“How so?” I say, without looking at her.

“Like an ogre.”

“You won’t stop complaining for one minute and I’m an ogre? And one more thing, have some respect when talking to me, I’m not in the mood to tolerate you whining like a pampered little girl.”

“Are you saying I’m a child?”

She talks louder than she should and manages to awaken the anger I try so hard to control. I get close to her.

“That’s enough, Carly! You’ve already complained enough for a lifetime. Recently, you’ve been complaining about everything and offending people as if you were above them. Get real, girl, you’re not! I know what happened at the country house, and if I find out it wasn’t the first time, I’ll throw this whole relationship away without a second thought. Get a hold of yourself. I’m going to sleep somewhere else tonight.”

I leave the room still in my tuxedo pants and go to the kitchen to get a beer. I go to the pool and sit down for a while. I don’t know how long I just sat there, looking at the water until I couldn’t take it anymore. At some point, I’ll have to get things right. Is procrastination the best solution?

I go inside and head for the stairs, where I stumble across Madison, in an emerald green nightgown, like her eyes. The thin fabric barely covers her large breasts and is too short to cover her thighs. She tries to cover herself, wrapping her arms in front of her body.

“You startled me, Judge Lancaster. I thought you’d be out for the night.”

“I was going to, but I changed my mind. Something told me to come home early.”

“Let me guess, Morticia wouldn’t suck your lollipop under the Hamptons’ moonlight...” She says, laughing. Without wasting time, I grab her by the arm and take her to the living room. I press her between me and the wall.

“I’m tired of your little jokes, Red. I have a better job for that big mouth of yours.”

“What is that?” she asks, breathing heavily.

I take her mouth in a raw kiss and I run my hands down her body. Her moans in my mouth make me go wild. I run my fingers along the edge of her nightgown, pulling the cups down, making those delicious breasts pop out. I suck on one nipple while pinching the other, and her breathing is heavy.

“You are so delicious...”

I turn her back to me, lift her nightgown to find her panties all buried in her ass, making me groan in despair. While one hand was between her legs, with the other I covered her mouth, her moans were a little too loud and we’re in a house full of people.

I press her clit over her panties and I can feel the moisture spread quickly through the thin fabric. She rubs herself in my hand, making my cock ache inside my pants. I turn her to face me again and kiss her. The devilish Red who’s been chasing me in my dreams, responds in kind.

“I’ve been dying to feel you,” I say in her mouth.

I put my leg between her legs, pull her panties aside and encourage her to rub herself. I suck her breasts one more time, giving equal attention to both of them, and then I go back to her mouth, hungry for more. I get my hand to her sensitive clitoris and make circular movements. Her moans grow louder, and I kiss her to silence them as I explore the center of her pleasure. It didn’t take long before she reached an orgasm. Just when I was thinking of taking off my pants, we hear:

“Noah?”

“Be quiet,” I say into Madison’s ear. We’re both tense, she is still shaken by the orgasm. I think quickly and see an armchair nearby. I put her down gently, kiss her forehead and leave. I rush to meet Carly.

“What is it, Carly?”

“What were you doing in the living room?” she wonders. Since I’m fed up with her, my answer is rude.

“I was fucking another woman,” this miserable woman, she won’t fuck me and still gets in my way when I have that delicious redhead in my arms.

“That’s not funny,” she laughs, “Come to bed with me, babe.”

“No. I’ll sleep in the guest room tonight,” I say, louder than usual, so Madison can hear me and come to finish what we started.

I head to the guest room and I just keep walking back and forth. She doesn’t show up. I decide to go down and look for her, but I can’t find her either. When I come to my senses, I’m standing at Alyssa’s door. What the fuck am I doing? I go back to the guest room and straight to the bathroom. I lock the door, turn on the shower and throw myself under the water for a hand job. I keep thinking of my hands on her body, my mouth on her breasts. I speed up my hand, imagining her mouth around my cock and I cum is so hard that my legs are shaking.

I go to bed and close my eyes, the images of Madison in the pool, of that sexy mouth at the Office, and that nightgown on the stairs... It all keeps playing through my mind like a movie. She’s a very beautiful woman and she’s also very brave, she’s not intimidated by the big guys. I remember, smiling, the day I saw that big man on the floor and her, trying to justify herself. If I’m not careful, this woman will mess up my whole life.
