Vengeance by Kathy Coopmans (27)

Chapter 27

Drew

“So you’re telling me someone walked right in last night and handed the security guard an envelope for me and left? And you people can’t get a read on his face. Is that what I’m hearing?” The head of security on the other end of the line needs to be fired right along with the piece of shit who didn’t ask whoever dropped this nice little surprise off for me who they were. I mean, who the hell shows up at the crack of dawn completely covered from head to toe in black winter clothes with a ski mask and hands someone a plain white envelope, then walks out the door without being suspicious.

“That’s exactly what I’m telling you. We have armed security everywhere, Mr. St. James. This building also holds apartments. Packages are dropped off at all hours of the day, and it is winter. In New York, I might add. It’s cold out, in case you haven’t notice. Criminals aren’t the only ones who wear masks to cover up their face when it’s below zero, sir. If you think you can get a read on the person, I’m more than happy to send up the footage.” Cocky little bitch might want to slow down her mouth and think about who she’s talking to before I barge down there and show her with my fists what disrespecting me means. I’ll get her ass thrown out, and then she can carry on about masks, cold, and winter.

Speaking of winter, there are only three weeks left until Christmas. My house should be decorated by now. Ivy should be doing all kinds of shit around this office like she does every year. Goddamnit.

“Send them to me.” I slam the receiver down. Huff out a breath and pour myself more scotch. Doubt I’ll have a clue who it is. Besides, if it was Cade, he wouldn’t have shown up here, he would have tracked me down to end our war. No, this is part of the game he’s playing to drive me further insane. To let me know he’s stopping at nothing to ruin me.

“Nice move, Cade. There’s no way Casey would give him that information. She knows what will happen to her and her precious fucking brat if she does.” I should pay her a visit. If I do, she’ll be more suspicious than she already is. Bitch showed up here the other day demanding to know where she is. I had to shut her up by writing a big fat check when what I really wanted to do was slice her open from top to bottom.

“And here I thought she was a timid little mouse only good for a random fuck.” Women, they truly are only good for one thing, and most of them aren’t even good at that. And if they are, they make it way too easy to get it. Fucking whores. All of them.

I exhale in disgust. Peer down at the information I’m sure was sent to me by Cade and rip the sheet of paper in half.

Information that could destroy me if it gets into the wrong hands. Information that should have never been so goddamn easy to find.

“You’re starting to piss me off, little brother. Where’s my wife, you goddamn thief?” Bet she’s in his bed with him. Her dry as a bone cunt is nice and wet for him. Smiling and laughing. Fucking bitch.

I tip back my scotch, glare at my wedding picture sitting on the edge of my desk. “I wonder if you didn’t drug yourself just to get away from me. Have you known he’s been here all along? Should have waited until I knew you were in his room and burned you too.” Should have done a lot of goddamn things. Then I wouldn’t be sitting here before the milky gray clouds hover across this city. A city where I can’t find my wife.

My fingers dig into my palms as my fists squeeze with the rage at how long I’d let Cade live. I should have found a way to have him killed behind those enemy lines instead of starving to look him in the eye before one of us kills the other. That ravenous need has eaten away at me for years. Now I’m going out of my mind wondering if he’s touched her. Speculating that he has, and pissed the fuck off that my wife would let him, and enjoy it.

The malice I’ve felt toward my brother since the day Ivy walked into our parents’ home behind him. Her sweet laugh echoing through the house when she sat talking to Rachel, and the way my parents took her and her father in has haunted me just as long. It should have been me introducing her to my family. Me who she should have been staring off into space for what felt like hours thinking about when in truth it was only minutes. Minutes that bent me up inside until the raw anger had me trying to beat or fuck him out of her system. Every damn time I brought her to her knees I wished like hell it would be the last. Prayed to the devil he’d make her stop looking at me vacantly and finally look at me the same way she did him.

My cell phone rings. Just like last time he called, I know it’s Cade. The shrill ring torments me. I debate for a bit before I pick it up and hit the green button. His heavy breathing echoing in my ears.

“Thieves get caught, Cade. What all did you take when you broke into my house?” I grit, breathing slowly through my nose to calm the anger bubbling in my blood.

Prick broke into my house last night and tore it the fuck apart. The only thing left of my bed was the frame. The word vengeance carved into the expensive wood.

“Not my problem if you can’t figure it out. I don’t have time for an interrogation. Especially from you. Got a question for you though. Remember the time I snuck up on you and that chick who was giving you a blow job in your car? Scared her so bad your dick fell out of her mouth. You about beat my ass because I wouldn’t stop laughing. You thought I was laughing because I cockblocked you. Man, you were after that girl to go out with you for a long time. Think you might have been obsessed. Know why I was really laughing?”

Don’t know why he thinks I fucking care. I got what I needed after I shoved him to the ground and told him to get his punk ass back inside.

Bitch wasn’t near as good as Ivy’s warm and wet mouth.

“Are we taking a stroll down memory lane? Because if we are, I can tell you all about the first time I fucked Ivy. How about the first time she sucked me off on her hands and knees.” I laugh. Can almost picture his veins popping out on his neck.

“Feel free to talk all you want. Ivy isn’t a pawn. She’s a queen. She might get taken down, but we all know she gets right back up ready to spring into action. She wants you dead, Drew. Get what I’m saying? Back to my story. It was because of the size of your dick. It wasn’t any bigger around than a baby dill pickle. I still laugh. Used to laugh about it when I sat in the desert plotting your death. I’m laughing harder now that I’ve been fucking and pleasing Ivy. Her pussy is tight, warm, and mine. She tastes like heaven with a heavy dose of sin. Her mouth. Goddamn her mouth is sweet. You should see her when I take a sip of my pipe and blow the smoke in her mouth. Swear to God there’s something in the tobacco that turns her on. She can’t stay off my cock. Wants it every chance she can get. And fuck it’s a beautiful sight when she comes. You wouldn’t know what she looks like when she comes now, would you?”

I grind my teeth through a clenched jaw, trying not to flip the fuck out on him. That’s what he wants. Goading little shit.

“How long are you going to stall this out? Come at me, Cade. Let’s fight this out brother to brother.”

I sit in my chair, my fingers digging into the empty crystal glass. Squeezing until my knuckles burn. He took something away from me I can’t live without. I’d already lost my mind when I started taking my anger out on her flawless skin. Marking it with all I had. I couldn’t stop once I started. That primal need to break her until there was nothing left of the woman who couldn’t love me overruled my love for her.

If he’s had her, which I’ve no doubt he hasn’t, there won’t be anything left of me. I live daily with endless reminders of mistakes and regrets, the things I could never change. But I needed to do those things in order to save me from killing her the same way I killed my family. A family I once loved.

I needed to fuck every woman I could. Needed to be the best in the courtroom. Needed the control because no matter what I did to Ivy, I couldn’t control her heart or mind.

“Let’s get something straight, Drew. I’m not your brother. My brothers are the men I fought beside. The men who had my back. You think I want to fight you? Man, you are more oblivious to what I’ve already done than I thought. You think I don’t know where you are right now? That I couldn’t look through my scope and put a bullet through your head? That I can’t stand over you tonight while you sleep and suffocate you without anyone knowing I stepped foot in your house? I want your blood, Drew. When I take it, it’s going to be with my fists and weapons. That last breath you draw is going to be with my knife. The one I’m holding in my hands. Technically, it wasn’t stealing since it’s mine. Need to finish this call so I can get back to Ivy. Drew, you should see her. Her ass is high, tight and juicy. She’s running on a treadmill in my home gym. Thought I’d spare you the worry too. You know from the bruises and sexual abuse you inflicted. Ivy’s nice and healed. Only marks on her body are my fingerprints from grabbing her hips and slamming into her tight pussy so hard I lose control. Taste so sweet I’ve been eating off of her. You were right about her being nice and tight. Don’t think that pounding you did with your pencil dick did much.”

His laughter blares in my ears.

“I knew you were in my house. I could smell Dad’s scent. Is that where you stole the papers from?” Cade’s hitched breath, and sudden silence has me releasing a dark chuckle. Must be he doesn’t want to talk about dear old dad.

Fury swiftly replaces every emotion, every sensation, and every bit of antagonizing word coming out of his mouth.

“You want to know, go check your safe for yourself. By the way, you haven’t found out who drugged Ivy yet, I see. I did. Found out all kinds of information since we last talked.” My blood starts vibrating a little close to my liking.

“I already did check, and I know who drugged my wife. He’s been taken care of.” My sneaky brother stole a half million dollars, and the box of a few personal belongings I stashed away before I torched the house. Along with Ivy’s clutch, her passport, and my life insurance policy.

“Taken care of how? Did you kill him or don’t you have balls to take someone’s life anymore?” Damn, he’s a nosey little fucker.

“Who and what I did to him is none of your business. Just like my wife isn’t your concern. You share that information you found out with Ivy, and it will hurt her. Is that what you want? I’m going to kill you, Cade. I don’t need a weapon. Not when I’ve been waiting to do it with my hands. Tell me where to meet you, and I’ll be there. You don’t need to surprise attack me. Not when I want you as dead as you do me.”

“Shit isn’t going down like that. It happens when I say. I’m the one out for vengeance, Drew. Vengeance you made me want. Vengeance that doubled when I found out what you’ve been doing to Ivy. My Ivy. The woman who has always belonged to me. You have no say in when I kill you. You have no say in what I tell Ivy. I’m going to say this once. I got my eye on Casey and her daughter. If you so much as touch them, look in their direction. You’ll die before your time. Gotta go fuck my woman and take her to buy a Christmas tree. Next time I talk to you, it’ll be in person.”

I throw my phone after he hangs up. Shattering it against the wall.

I killed the little bastard who dared to drug my wife. His admission on his deathbed was something I should have seen. Little pricks of this world always want something that doesn’t belong to them. Always wanting more than what they deserve.

“I need a drink. I need my wife,” I yell. Kick my chair so hard it smashes up against the window.

Feet moving to the bar in my office. I swipe up the bottle of scotch, take my hand and sweep the rest of the shelf clean. Clattering the bottles to the floor. Glass breaking, liquid pooling at my feet.

“Goddamnit. Motherfucking son of a bitch,” I roar, tip back the bottle and chug. My throat starts burning, stomach churning and anger boiling into a rage I need to fuck some willing pussy to get it out. Even then it won’t subside. Not until I meet Cade face to face. Thief and his wise talk have a fire burning holes in my veins.

Every damn thing I’ve worked hard for is crumbling at my feet. I need her back in my life. I can’t function without her. Everything else can go to hell. Without Ivy I’m nothing.

I push the couch over that I’ve fucked many women on. The chair where my clients sit, everything on my desk goes crashing to the floor. I swing at the air. Wishing every punch was my brother’s face.

“Fuck you both,” I scream at the top of my lungs over and over again, until my throat stings. And my chest heaves. “She’s mine.”

Dropping to my knees, glass digging into my skin. I pick up the broken framed picture and tug it to my chest.

“I’ll get you back, and when I do, I’m going to kill us both.”
