It’s three in the afternoon and I’m still very tired but I can’t sleep.
I turn my laptop on and I call Lisa on skype – my heart races at the thought of telling her what happened.
“Hey, sweetie! What’s up baby?”
“Hey Lis! Were you busy or something?”
She chuckles. “Or something.”
I giggle. “So, you got five minutes?”
“For ya? Of course, I do! Hope I’m gonna be late for work, I have a meeting and I hate it!”
“Oh, I’m sorry!” I cringe. “I’m gonna call ya back later ok?”
“No silly! I said I do have time for ya! And ya know I can do whatever I want here honey. I really hate that stupid meeting and if I lose ten minutes of that I can only be happy!” She chuckles.
I smile biting my thumbnail as I look at the laptop screen.
“So, what’s up? How ‘s work, baby? How’s my hometown?!” She mumbles. “Ya know? Sometimes I miss it.”
I grin. “Everything’s good thanks. Your town’s still here.” I smirk.
“Oh really? Good to know.” She smiles brightly.
“And. I have to tell ya something.”
“Wait wait wait!” She grins. “I know that face!”
I smile slowly shaking my head. I feel like a teen who’s telling about her first date to her best friend.
“Come on what happened? It’s a boy?”
I instantly blush, and I bite my bottom lip with my front teeth, letting out a timid smirk. “Um, kinda,” I mutter; my heart drums against my ribs.
She frowns. “Kind of? What? C’mon don’t play with me!”
“Ok, remember that guy?”
She widens her eyes. “That guy?” She asks mimicking a baffled face. “That guy?” She repeats raising her voice and smiling.
“Yeah, that one.”
“You mean the one we talked about for so long? The tattooed hottie? The snarky bastard?”
I giggled biting my thumb shily. “Yeah.”
“Woah! What happened? Changed your mind?”
I stare at the screen pensively biting my thumbnail.
“Hey!”
“We did it,” I murmur letting out a relieved smile.
Lisa’s eyes widen. “W… What? Really? Oh, my Gosh yeah baby! Finally!”
I keep smiling like a fool enjoying her reaction.
“I’m so happy Grace! You followed my advice baby! So, how was it?”
I instantly feel my cheeks flushing red. “Lis, I don’t want to get into much detail, but I can tell you it was the best experience I had with a man. He’s awesome.”
“Oh, my Gosh, I so much envy you! I hate you actually!” She chuckles shaking her head. “I’m just kiddin’ baby! I’m so glad for ya! But hey, now what? Did you tell him you won’t date guys?” She laughs.
“Well Lis, the thing is… It wasn’t only sex. Maybe I thought it was in the beginning because he’s so good at it, but I realized there was something more than physical attraction, and that made it perfect.”
“Oh shit.”
“I know. I know Lisa. I can’t help it. I tried so hard to fool myself. I tried denying it, but now I admit in the back of my mind I’ve always been attracted to him.”
“Wait, did I say shit?”
I smirk with one side of my mouth. “I guess?”
“Oh, well, no… I mean, that’s good, isn’t it? Remember what I told ya? Give those men a chance. There must be the perfect one for you, and perhaps you have just found it.”
I sigh smiling. “Who knows?”
I’m not going to tell her what Zac confessed me about his past. I feel privileged to be the only one alive who knows. I can’t even believe he decided to tell me, and I wonder if would ever try again to let his feelings come up. ‘Oh, Zac… I wish we could both be green and enthusiastic about love and be together without fears and doubts.’
“Well baby, time will tell… But let me ask you something.”
I breathe in and exhale. “Yeah go for it.”
“Would you be willing to take your chances if he asked ya?”
I pause for a second. “Yeah… Yeah, Lisa, I think I’ll give us a chance.”
“Good baby. That’s what I wanted to hear.”

After I hang up with Lisa I enthusiastically start tidying the living room. Yesterday, I worked more than twelve hours and I haven’t slept much besides the few hours on Zac’s couch, but I feel full of energy. I start fantasizing about me and him being together, traveling together, having fun, laughing, crying, and building a family. ‘Oh my Gosh Grace, you gotta be really crazy.’ I shake my head and let out a half smirk. ‘But maybe?’
My fantasies are suddenly interrupted when I hear the ding from my laptop, telling me I just got a new email.
I walk to the table and sit before my laptop. In the meanwhile, I casually check the time on the bottom right of the screen and I realize it’s almost time to go to work. ‘Shit!’
My eyes widen, and my heart skips a beat when I read the new email I just got.
‘My God! Oh My God!’
