Forbidden Addiction (Forbidden, Book #4) by R.L. Kenderson (26)

“I WANT YOU to be on top,” Phoenix told him.

Dante hesitated. “Are you sure?” He was a lot bigger and didn’t want her to feel like she was being forced in any way.

“Yes, I want to feel you all over me.”

He wanted the same thing.

“Damn, Red, you know just what to say to get what you want.”

Dante rolled them until Phoenix was on her back, and Dante was over her, but the best part was that he was still inside her.

“Ooh,” she said.

He immediately went on alert. “Are you okay?”

“Yes. You just feel different now.”

“Good different? Or bad different?”

Phoenix laughed and put a finger between his eyes to smooth out his frown. “Good different. Please don’t worry so much about me.”

“That’s like telling the sun not to rise.” He kissed her.

He began to pump slowly inside her. She was swollen from their first round of sex and because she didn’t normally do this sort of thing. But, thankfully, she was wet from her desire and his.

He moved a little faster when she moaned into his mouth, and he was sure she was feeling good. He left her mouth and kissed her cheek and then down the side until he reached her neck.

He sucked on the skin there, wanting to taste her more than he’d ever wanted to taste anyone. He’d tasted her before, but he’d never had his fangs inside her while he’d been inside her.

Phoenix pushed on the back of his head and said, “Bite me, Dante.”

“Are you sure?” he said against her neck. “I’m not due to feed yet.”

She grabbed a section of hair and pulled. “Quit asking me if I’m sure. I want the whole vampire experience. Now, bite me, Dante.”

He growled at the way she’d said his name and struck. He sucked gently as he fucked her, wanting to make it last as long as possible. He wanted to live here. Inside her pussy and inside her vein.

As he drew her blood into his mouth, the taste along with the tightness of her around his cock meant that he would not last long. He didn’t want to come without Phoenix though. She deserved this after the assholes she’d dated before.

He knew she needed to be touched down below, or she needed to taste his blood. God, he wanted her to suck on him, but it felt like cheating. Dante had just decided to give up on her neck in order to get a better angle to reach her clit when she used her cat canines to bite his shoulder.

He loved that Phoenix wasn’t being timid and was going after what she wanted in bed. Dante knew he should give her a little time, but everything—her blood, her snug wetness, her courage—had him thrusting into her harder and faster. He was going to have to apologize to her when he was done, but she felt amazing.

But then Phoenix surprised him as she beat him to the finish line. She came around him, squeezing him so tightly that he was afraid his dick was briefly going to lose circulation.

He had the good sense to close her vein before he orgasmed and momentarily lost control of his motor skills.

Wanting to be as far inside Phoenix as possible, he grabbed one of her legs and put it over his shoulder, opening her up to him as he pounded out his release. He pushed into her and held his body there while he poured himself inside her.

When he came back to himself, he let go of her leg and put his forehead to hers. “Please tell me you’re okay. I kind of lost myself there for a while.”

“Is that because of me?”

Duh seemed like the only appropriate answer.

“Yes, Red, it’s because of you.”

She ran her hand down his chest. “Wow. I’ve never done that to a guy before.”

Dante started laughing so hard that he rolled off of Phoenix and started coughing.

She sat up and looked down at him. “What’s so funny?”

“You.”

She puckered her brow. “Me?”

He put his hand on her hip. “Yes. You really have no clue the power you could have over the male population if you wanted to.”

“Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”

“It’s a good thing because you don’t. I like you clueless and innocent.”

She crossed her arms. “Yeah, well, I don’t know if I like that.”

He pulled her down to lie on his chest. “I’m glad you don’t use your looks for evil.”

She traced her hand down his scar. “How did you get this?” she asked.

He looked down at himself even though he knew what she was talking about. “My father.”

Phoenix gasped. “What?” She leaned up on an elbow to look at him.

He shrugged. He supposed it sounded like a big deal to someone who’d never heard the story before. “Did you know my father was the previous leader of the Guardians?”

“No.”

“He was.” A lock of her red-and-black hair fell down around her shoulder, so Dante picked it up and twisted it around his finger. “He was kind of a hard-ass. He started grooming me to take over for him when I was little. He was teaching me how to spar, and he cut me. This was before my conversion, so I didn’t have the ability to heal like I do now.”

“That’s horrible.”

“It is what it is. It taught me the valuable lesson of getting out of the way. Believe me, he never cut me again.”

“I don’t like to think of you being hurt.”

Her words melted his heart.

“Same here. Why don’t we watch some more Game of Thrones and forget what my dad did?”

“Is your father no longer alive?”

“He died over ten years ago.”

“Okay,” she said as she lay back down. “I’m ready to watch.”

“Why did you ask?”

“Because, if he wasn’t already in the ground, I was going to put him there myself.”

Dante kissed the top of her head. “You need to work on your romance,” he said with a laugh.

Hunter and Quentin were back in Hunter’s car, on their way to their next destination, but Hunter wanted to be back at that park, finishing what they had started. Quentin had told him they had taken too much time already, and they were supposed to be working.

But, if they were back at the park, they wouldn’t have to finish their conversation from earlier. He didn’t want to fight with Quentin or be hurt, but he wanted to know why Quentin hadn’t contacted him. He knew he couldn’t avoid it forever.

Hunter opened his mouth when Quentin said, “I’m sorry I never called or texted you. I was dealing with a lot of stuff.”

“Your family emergency?”

Quentin snorted. “More like family shit. My sister…she’s…well, she’s a drug addict. My mother and father have been trying to get her help for years. We all thought that moving back to Minneapolis might help her, get her away from her crowd. But she’s like a heat-seeking missile. She finds the shittiest druggies and becomes their new best friend.”

“She doesn’t appreciate the help, I take it.”

“She hates it. She hates me. She thinks I became a cop and a sentinel to be a kiss ass, but that’s not true. I like being a protector. She doesn’t get it.”

Hunter had almost forgotten about Quentin’s day job since he’d been spending so much time out in the field, doing his sentinel thing.

“She always dares me to arrest her. I fucking should, too. But then I look at my mother, and I just…can’t. It would break her heart.”

Hunter grabbed Quentin’s hand. “I’m so sorry.”

Quentin looked over at him. “Yeah, me, too. But I doubt she’ll ever change because she doesn’t want to.”

Hunter squeezed his fingers around Quentin. “I’m sorry I didn’t call or text you either. I know it’s a two-way street, and I shouldn’t have waited for you to make the second move.”

Quentin smiled. “It’s okay. You’re forgiven. I wouldn’t have been fun to talk to anyway. I feel like my sister brings out the worst in me. She’s always feeling sorry for herself, but I don’t understand why. She came from a good home with good parents. She had everything she could have ever wanted. But she keeps insisting that life is so tough. Tell me about, lady, I’m a fucking homosexual, sentinel, and police officer. I think I know the meaning of tough.” He shook his head. “Nope, we’re not talking about her anymore. She’s already ruined enough of my week.”

“Okay, I understand. But, if you ever need to talk, I’m here.”

Quentin smiled again. “Thanks.” He turned his eyes to the windshield. “So, where are we headed again?”

Hunter sighed. “Another tip. Let’s hope this one turns out better than the last.”
