Dianthe's Darkness: (Dia Mcleareay Series Book 4) by JB Miller (16)

Chapter 15

It was time for a party!

The boys and I were in the car, heading the hotel. Once we were in the back of the limo and behind darkened glass, Kale had pulled me into his lap, kissing me deeply.

“I've wanted to do that all day,” he growled.

“You looked so damn beautiful, I was ready to push Daniel out of the way, so I could throw you over my shoulder and carry you out of there.”

“However, the puppy realized it would not be conducive to his health. He knew that your mother would end him.” Robin purred.

“No lie, Dia. Your mum is scary.” Daniel laughed.

“She is not,” I tried to glower. “My mother is the most wonderful woman in the world. She is one of the most kindhearted, giving, and charitable ladies you will ever meet.”

“Yeah, until you get between her and her children.” Daniel laughed.

“She is more like a lioness, protecting her cubs,” Robin whispered into my ear before kissing my neck.

“A proper wolf-bitch, with her cubs, more like.” Kale laughed. “Bitch, as in fierce protective she-wolf, Dia. Not the human kind.”

I giggled.  “I know what you mean, Kale. Mum would be proud to be compared to a she-wolf––I think. I wish we could tell her about all of this, but I understand why we can’t.”

“Perhaps one day, Dianthe. Especially, if our little girl is as precocious as I think she may be.”

I groaned.  “I don’t know if I will ever be ready to take care of a baby god. But at least I have you three to help me.”

“Not to mention Belenus and his lady-wife. I don’t think they are going to give you the chance do much other than let them be doting grandparents.” Robin added.

I nodded.

I completely understood why they were hovering.  Since they found out about the baby, every time I turned around, it seemed as if my godly parents were there.

I think they were terrified that history would repeat itself.

There was no way anything was going to happen to my baby. They would have to go through not only me, but the boys, the Sluagh, the pack, and the Wild Hunt. It was one of the few things I didn’t need to worry about.

I was soon pulled from my thoughts by the guys, who decided to keep me occupied, by seeing how naughty they could be, without mussing our clothes too much.

Let’s just say, they failed miserably.

Thankfully, I was able to use a little power, and sort us out as the car was pulling up in front of the hotel.

“Behave you three.” I warned them.

Too bad, it just made them look at one another and grin wider. I just shook my head, and let Daniel take my arm and guide me in.

My mum met us at the door and kissed me on the cheeks, before pulling Daniel to her. Then she grabbed both Kale and Daniel for a hug.

“Welcome to the family––all of you. I had always dreamed of the day my girl would find a wonderful person to settle down with and share her life.  I never expected that she would find three of the most wonderful, loving men in the world.”  She paused and wiped a tear from her eye.  “I know it’s not conventional, and I couldn’t care less. All that matters to her dad and I is that she is loved and cherished. We couldn’t ask for more, and it’s obvious that she has that in spades.”

Robin bowed at the waist, before straightening.

“You humble us, Madam. I speak for all of us when I say that Dianthe is our reason for existing, and as long as we live, it will be our duty and honor to worship her as the goddess she is.”

I stepped closer and elbowed him in the ribs, while mum was all starry eyed over his deliberation.

“Enough of that,” I hissed

Damn fairy, loved to play on words. I was starting to understand why he drove Kale crazy.

“Right then,” my mum said. “Let’s get you lot inside. Your dad has paid for an open bar, and you know what our friends and family are like when it comes to free drinks. I swear, your father is trying to beggar us.  An open bar and Catholics. Our accountant is going to have a heart attack,” she laughed.

I just shook my head. I knew dad had set up a fund when each of us were babies to pay for our weddings.

Once we were through the door, mum steered us over to where we were going to receive guests. Mum and dad, were the first in the line, followed by me, Daniel, Kale and Robin, and finishing with Daniel’s mum.

It was very telling having Robin and Kale standing beside all of us, but everyone took it with grace.

Everyone was in good cheer and on their way to being happily drunk, by the time the maître d had everyone sat down so we could cut the cake.

The cake was a masterpiece.

Made in an Asian style of tiers on floating cake stands. They made two staircases of red and gold.

There were a total of eight cakes, and each one had a single Claddagh ring on it.  The exception being the three bottom cakes that read, ‘Our love forever’

Sugared rose petals dusted with gold flakes decorated the table beneath the cake, and together it looked like something out of a fairytale.

I was overwhelmed.

I had seen designs for the cake, but my mum had pretty much taken over the planning with Mara, and they had done an amazing job.

Daniel and I stood side by side, with Kale and Robin on each side of us. We each held a hand to the knife as it sliced through the cake.

My heart swelled. This truly was the most beautiful moment of my life.

Here I was, with three of the most wonderful males ever, in front of my family and friends, celebrating our vows.

Kale and Robin may not have been part of the church vows, but we had had our own, and they were celebrating them with us now. And the fact that everyone here accepted us, as a group, just made it perfect.

Once the cake was sliced and we turned around, the room filled with cheers.

It was official––the party had begun!
