Dianthe's Darkness: (Dia Mcleareay Series Book 4) by JB Miller (18)

BADGIRL

Chapter 1

I'm a good girl, always have been.  I respected my parents, never swore out loud, made good grades in school, went to church every Sunday, and brushed my teeth three times a day.

What did all that get me? A big pile of fucking shit on a Popsicle stick. Well, shit on my fiancés Popsicle stick.

You see, I’m a TA in a special needs school and my one-to-one went home this morning, unwell, so lucky me, they gave me the rest of the day off. Once again, the quintessential good girl, I thought, ‘Hey, let’s spend some time with Mike.’ I had even picked up chicken soup on my way home, because he had been feeling rough this morning. So, to say I was shocked when I came home early from school, would be an understatement.

Oh my fucking God and the Virgin Mary having a three-way with Lucifer!  I needed bleach to wash away the images that were now burned into my retinas.

Sorry, I’m in shock––back to the scene in front of me.  I had just opened the door to my apartment, like always.  Mike was working from home today––or so I thought.  He had told me he wasn’t feeling his best, so I was being a little extra quiet, in case he was sleeping.  I shouldn’t have bothered.

Mike had my brother bent over my grandmother’s floral chintz couch, pounding his meat into his ass.

I gagged a little bit.  Oh my god, that had been inside me last night.  It was almost like incest.  I watched in horror for nearly thirty seconds before I lost my ever-loving mind and threw the chicken soup at them.

“What in the almighty lord’s name are you doing?” I screeched.  It was so loud, I think dogs howled three blocks down.

They broke apart as if scalded.  That could be the case, the soup was hot.  Good, I seethed.

“Allie, sweetie, what are you doing home?” Mike whined.  My brother just looked at me as if I had put him out.  Oh my God, my baby brother!  There was going to be blood.  Nana’s Scotch Guard was not going to fix that.

“What am I doing home?  You want to know what I’m doing home?  How about what the H-E-double hockey sticks are you doing boning my brother?  That is disgusting!  Oh my God, I think I’m going to be sick,” I gagged, running towards the bathroom.

By the time I was done spewing my guts, I had a thumping head and was trying to drink down as much water as I could handle.  Water had never tasted so cold and sweet.

When I finally made it back to the living room, Mike and my brother, Lee, had at least put their clothes back on.  I glanced at Nana’s couch.  I was never sitting on that couch again.  Maybe Aunt Nell will want it, I thought.  I couldn’t burn it like I wanted to.  Nana Benson would haunt me.  Then again, she would have probably helped me burn it.

“Allie, let me explain,” Mike began.

I just held up my hand.  There’s nothing to explain, Mike.  I came home to you having sex with my brother,” my voice broke.  “My brother.”

Turning my glare on my brother, he didn’t even have the grace to look ashamed. “Lee, I knew you were a jealous butthole, but oh my God, this is too much!” I shouted.

“Hey, it’s not my fault you ain’t got what it takes to keep Mikey’s interest.”

Oh hell no.

“Get out!” I shouted.

Lee just shrugged and winked at Mike before heading toward the door.

Mike had begun to ease toward me with his puppy dog eyes that I used to love so much, begging for forgiveness.

“You too,” I said, holding up a hand to stop him.

“Allie, now don’t be hasty.  This is my house too.  It was just a fling before we got married.  I just wanted to know what it was like,” he tried to explain.  Bastard.

“Yeah, for the last two years,” Lee said, laughing bitterly.

What was left of my heart broke.

“A fling?” I screamed at him.  “A fling is when you get hammered and sleep with a stripper at your bachelor party.  I would fucking prefer that by the way!”

Oops, I never swore out loud.  So, so much in my head, but never out loud.

Both my brother and my very ex-boyfriend looked at me in shock.  I don’t know if I had ever said a bad word out loud.

“Don’t be a bitch, Allie.  You never did like to share.”

“Get the fuck out of my house right now, before I rip off your goddamned balls and feed them to you, you piece of shit excuse for a family member.”I shouted before turning on Mike.

“Go with him, or I will call the cops and have them make you leave.  Pretty sure you don’t want the neighbours to hear me shouting to the rooftops how you were plumbing my brother’s depths.”

“Allie,” Mike tried again.  “We can talk about this.  Things have been hard lately––”  He yelped, ducking just in time, when I picked up his laptop from the side-table and threw it at his head.  It was satisfying to hear it crash against the wall.  It’s just too bad that I missed.

“Get.  Out.  Now.”

“Alright.  Alright, I’m going. But when you have calmed down, we can talk about this––like adults.”

“Oh, hell no,” I snarled.  “I never want to see either of you again.  Never ever, in a million years.  You stay the hell away from me, or I will not be held responsible for my actions.”

For good measure, I picked up my brothers backpack and lobbed it at his head.

The bastard caught it and gave me a wave before heading out the door.  Mike gave me one last look before following after him, shutting the door quietly behind him.

Once they were gone, I ran to the bowl by the door and doubled checked.  Yep, Mike’s house keys were still there.  Quickly locking the door, I slid down against it and began to sob.

What had just happened?

Once I could pick myself up off the floor I crawled over to the phone and called my best friend from college, Angie.  She was the one who would happily help me hide the bodies.
