Finding My Way Home (Doyle Global Securities Book 2) by Kendel Duncan (34)

Thirty-Four

A loud, demanding knock at the door woke both Bas and Ten from their slumber.  When the knock turned into a thumping that rattled the door hinges, Ten rolled from the bed with a growl.  “Whoever this fucking is, I’m gonna shoot first and ask questions later,” he said as he pulled his nine mil from the nightstand and chambered a round.

Then, wearing only his boxer briefs and with his gun in his hand, he stomped down the hall and over to the door.

He threw it open, “Who the fuck are you?” he barked at the man standing on his doorstep.  He hardly noticed the soft, light brown hair, the light green eyes, the strong jawline or the powerful body barely contained beneath the designer jeans and mint button-down shirt.  Yep.  Hardly noticed.

He almost snorted a laugh at his hypocrisy.

“Where is he?” the man said, seemingly unconcerned by the fact that he had a loaded weapon pointed at his chest.

Ten smiled, “Slow down there, chiefsmoke.  Ima need you to answer my question first.”

“Name’s Case Donner.  Bas is my partner.”

The devastation that Ten felt exploding inside his chest must’ve been written all over his face because Case clucked his tongue as he rolled his eyes, “Jesus fucking Christ. I’m his law partner, not his life partner, dickhead.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah, oh.  Now where the fuck is he?”

“How did you find us?”

“Boy, you are just full of moronic questions, aren’t you?  Morgan told me.  He knew that Bas would need the best lawyer.  I’m the best.  So, where the fuck is he?”

“Fuck. Do you think you could check your ego at the door?” Ten said as he took a step back.

“No can do, boo,” Case mumbled as he barreled past Ten and stomped down the hall.

“You!” Case yelled when he stopped in the bedroom doorway, “Put some clothes on your ugly ass and get the fuck out here.”  He turned and glared at Ten as he stomped past him and plopped down on the couch, pulling the satchel that Ten hadn’t even noticed him carrying, off of his shoulder.  He opened it and pulled out a tablet computer, a notepad and pens before he froze and glared at Ten.  “Don’t just stand there, boy.  Go help the invalid get dressed.”

“I’ll bet you’re a hoot at parties,” Ten mumbled as he wandered down the hall.

When he stepped into the bedroom, he found Bas sitting on the end of the bed, elbows resting on his knees, still naked.

“Progress,” Ten said as he stepped forward.

Bas snorted, “I think I took four steps.”

“Like I said, progress,” Ten said as he walked over, put his gun on safety before he set it down and then he pulled open his dresser drawer.

“Boxers, boxer briefs or jockstrap?”

“J-j-j-damn.  I need to see that soon. Boxers right now.”

Ten turned around with a pair in his hands, “Why don’t I have your charming friend come in here?”

“Not happening,” Case yelled from the living room.

“Jesus is that guy superman?”

Bas snorted again, “He wishes.”

“Just forget the boxers and help me into a pair of sweats.”

Ten replaced the boxers, opened the next drawer down and pulled out an obviously old pair.  “These are worked in, so they’ll be softer for that leg wound.”

He dropped to one knee, “Lift,” he said as he tapped Bas’ ankle.

“Do you know how many times I’ve jacked off to this image?” Bas mumbled.

Ten’s eyes lifted and they darted between Bas’ face and his crotch when he realized that his mouth was mere inches from his cock.

His tongue snuck out, licking his lips.  He began to lean forward.

“If you two start fucking, I’m going to get cranky!”  Case yelled.

“You mean he’s not cranky now?” Ten said, his eyebrow lifted.

“I heard that!” Case yelled.

“I don’t care!” Ten yelled back.

That got a snort from Case.

“Help me up,” Bas said as he lifted one arm.

Ten dropped his head under that arm and then stood them both up, pulling the sweatpants up as they went.

Bas was trying not to wince or grimace, but he was failing miserably.

“Ready?” Ten said, knowing that the stubborn man would only push on.

“Yeah.”

Very slowly they made their way out of the bedroom, down the hall and out to the living room, where Ten helped lower Bas into the soft, leather recliner.

Once Bas was leaned back and somewhat comfortable, he glared over at Case, “Now, what was so damn important that you had to come barreling in here like a herd of elephants on steroids?”

Case glared right back, “You’re gonna want to save your boy, Liam, right?”

Oh, that.

“Yeah, I do.”

“Then you have to tell me every little detail, down to how many times you farted, before I go talk to him.”

Bas nodded because now he understood the urgency.

“Good, let’s get started.”
