I get into the hotel and collapse on the bed, thinking about Mia and knowing I still have a few minutes until I can hear her sweet as sin voice. The drive here wasn’t so bad. The bullshit process of them checking every cow, and then having a veterinarian on hand, made for a long day, and it looks like it’s going to continue to be an even longer week. It doesn’t help that all I want is Mia in my arms, her voice in my ear, and her legs tangled up with mine.

I decide to grab a shower and wish away the time. I take my clothes off, intent on getting the dirt and grime from today’s shit show off. I turn the shower on and hop in, feeling older than my years. I’m missing the comfort of home already.

Grabbing some soap, I slowly lather myself up, imagining Mia’s hands on my body, wanting her warmth surrounding me. I miss her so much and the shower is just making that worse; I quickly rinse off, deciding I can’t wait any longer.

With a towel wrapped around my waist, I get out and look at the clock. Seeing it’s a little past six o’clock, I walk to my phone and dial her number.

“Hello,” she answers. Her sweet voice on the other end has my cock tenting the towel.

“Hey, Darlin’, how was your day?” I respond into the phone, wishing like fuck I could be with her right now.

“It was good. Busy, but it kept me from going stir crazy, too.”

Before she can mutter another word, I say, “I miss you, Mia. This not seeing you until next week is going to be torture.”

I hear her inhale and then she says one of the sweetest things possible.

“I’ve missed you too, Cash. I kept hoping time would hurry and pass so I could hear your voice.”

“Damn, honey. Just hearing you say those words makes me want to come home to you right now.” I grumble. I’m dead serious, if I could rush this shit I would, or if Joe could take it over, it’d be damn helpful. Unfortunately, I need him at the farm more.

“I wish you could,” she says, wistfully. For a few minutes, we’re quiet, each lost in our own thoughts.

“I got some more news about your car today too, Darlin’,” I tell her, changing topics because we’re both struggling with being apart. “It’s going to be down for a couple of weeks. You okay with driving my truck around for a while?” I ask her, trying to prepare myself for an argument.

“Damn it. I’m sorry, Cash. I was hoping it wouldn’t take that long, so I could give your truck back. I know you probably need it around the farm more.”

She sounds worried, like maybe she doesn’t want to be a burden. What she doesn’t know is that she could never be a burden.

“Mia, it’s okay. I have several other farm trucks. You just drive that one until your car is fixed. That way I won’t worry honey,” I respond, and I hear her yawning at the other end. I know I should let her go. God knows we both will need to get up early in the morning for work.

“Okay Cash, but if you need it, you have to let me know. I don’t mind walking around town.” Her voice is husky, and I can tell I’m going to lose her to sleep soon.

“Alright, sweet Mia, I’ll let you know. I’m going to hang up and let you get some shut eye.”

I close my eyes hoping like fuck this week goes by as fast as lightening.

“Goodnight Cash,” she responds.

“Miss you. Have a good night.” I murmur into the phone.

“Miss you too, Cash.”

I wait until she hangs up before I disconnect. With my hands behind my head, I lay back thinking of Mia until finally I find sleep.
