“Miss Hayes, we have received your blood work, did you know that you are pregnant?” The doctor states, in broken English. I had Yvette beside me to help translate as my French was not up to scratch in terms of medical talk.
I look at him blankly, excuse me what the hell did he just say?
“You are ten weeks pregnant. Now you have the cast on your arm we would like to take you in for an ultrasound.”
Am I hearing the doctor’s words correctly? How the hell did this happen? Well I know how it happened, but I was careful, we were careful.
“This must come as a shock, did you not know?” One of the nurses asks, as I haven’t responded yet.
“No, I didn’t know. I got my period last month.”
I shake my head in disbelief because it all made sense now. That is why I have been so sick. I’m pregnant, it wasn’t because Evan broke my heart. Instead, he gave me a baby. Shit!
I can feel Yvette’s hand on mine letting me know it was going to be okay.
“Some bleeding can occur during implantation; it’s common.”
“But I didn’t know. I have been drinking. Shit is my baby going to be okay?” Panic was setting in as I realize the severity of the situation.
“We have arranged for an ultrasound later today, we will know more then.” The doctor advised. “Anything else Miss Hayes?” He asks.
“No thank you, um … can you just ask Derrick to come in, please.”
The nurses nod and walk out the door. Fuck, fuck, fuck! Evan is going to think I’ve done this on purpose to trap him. He will probably think it’s Beau’s. Shit, I’m going to be a single Mum. I could hear the beeping of the machine with each thought racing through my mind.
“Calm down, Sienna it’s going to be okay,” Yvette says, stroking my hair.
“Hey, Princess,” Derrick smiles, as he enters the room.
I burst into tears.
Derrick pulls me into his arms hugging me tight which hurt a little. “Sisi , what happened? What did the doctors say? It can’t be that bad.”
I tried to get the words out of my mouth but each time I try, they get stuck.
“Vanessa’s here, sweetie, she’s waiting outside.”
I stop for a moment. Vanessa is here? I’m sure she will know what to do.
“Quick, let her in, I need to see her. There is something I have to tell you both. But please make sure Charlotte doesn’t come in, she can’t know, not yet.”
Derrick frowns, walks to the door and signals Vanessa to come into the room.
The look of worry on her face made me burst into tears again – damn hormones. She wraps her arms around my sore body.
“So happy to see you, Sisi,” she greets me with tears, giving me a kiss on the cheek.
She moves my face from side to side inspecting me. “Shit, look at your face, all these bruises.”
I have no idea what I look like. I haven’t seen a mirror in 24 hours.
“The doctors told me something and I am freaking out.”
Derrick and Vanessa sit on either side of me on the bed. Each taking one of my hands into theirs waiting for me to continue.
“I’m pregnant.”
They both look at me; neither of them say a word. In the silence my heart monitor starts to go crazy with my panic.
“Shit, calm down Sienna, you’ll have a heart attack,” Derrick says.
“Fuck, Sisi, Evan’s outside.”
My world freezes. What the hell was he doing here? I don’t understand.
“I can’t see him.” I say freaking out again, the machine beeping uncontrollably.
“Calm down Sisi, you don’t have to see him. Not until you are ready, okay.” Vanessa says.
I nod at her as I get my heart rate back down to normal.
“I’m ten weeks, how the hell did I not know I was fucking pregnant? I had my period and everything.”
“Now I understand why you were sick. All that time you had morning sickness,” Derrick smiles. “You’re going to have to tell him Sisi,” Vanessa says, taking my hand.
“I know, but not yet. I don’t get why he is here?”
“Did you hit your head in the accident as well, because why the hell do you think he is here?”
“He’s been a mess, Sienna. The whole plane ride he has been worried about you.” She added.
Shaking my head, I state, “I can’t see him, not today, not until I have processed what has happened. Not until I know everything is okay with the baby.”
Derrick and Vanessa look at each other and I can tell they are not happy with my decision.
“Christian, Blake and Chance are here as well.”
Raising my eyebrows, I question, “Chance,” directing it to Derrick.
He nods and adds, “Not sure what that is about but I’m happy to see him.”
Vanessa and I smile at Derrick.
“I think maybe he might care about you D,” I say.
Derrick just shrugs.
“You’re in the city of love anything can happen,” I remind him. “Tomorrow spend the day with Chance, okay.”
Derrick frowns at me. “I’m not leaving you.”
I shake my head at him. “I’ll be okay, please promise; tomorrow is going to be crazy for me speaking to Evan. Have fun, one of us should.”
Waving his hands dramatically at me he nods and finally agrees.
