Suddenly Dirty (Dirty Texas #1) by J.A. Low (32)

After three months of travelling through Europe, we are now back in London, the last concert being played to a sold out crowd. The boys made an announcement the other day that they would be taking a break from touring for a while. It sent the fans crazy; the band reassuring them that they would be back very soon. Vanessa has organised a huge after party to celebrate the end of the tour and so many people are trying to get tickets to it.

“Cheers, you bastards to another tour well done and to never having to see your ugly mugs ever again,” Vanessa jokes, as we all clink our glasses together in celebration. “Shit does that mean you are going to be home all day, every day?” Vanessa asks Christian.

“Sure thing, Queen V. You will finally have me to yourself every single day. I know how much this idea gets you all excited,” Christian says, giving her a kiss on the cheek, making us all laugh.

“Ness, we want to ask you something,” Axel says, looking serious.

The group stops for a moment, all eyes on Vanessa and Axel.

“We were wondering if you would like to be the new PR director for Dirty Texas Records?”

“You want me to run the PR for your label?”

The boys all nod in unison to Vanessa’s question.

She looks at each of them in shock and begins to cry. Silently, tears run down her face. Ness crying is very rare.

“Hey Ness, no, please don’t cry. Why are you upset, sweetheart?” Christian comforts, while wrapping his arms around her. The other boys look on with worried expressions.

“There is no one else in the world we would trust. You’re family, Ness, and family sticks together,” Axel states, matter-of-factly.

Vanessa’s green eyes look up at him her face lights up with a huge smile “Hell yeah, let’s do this,” she says through her tears. The table erupts into cheers.

The club is filled with London’s hipsters, A-listers, maybe even some European royals thrown in for good measure. The who’s who were after tickets to tonight’s party, especially when they realized Dirty Texas were taking a break, people were going crazy to get close to them tonight.

Evan and I are dancing, he has me wrapped in his arms; his cheeks are red from the alcohol he has been drinking. Leaning into my ear, he whispers to me, “I love you, Sienna.” Everything stops. I sobered up quickly and stare at him. “Fuck, sorry that wasn’t meant to come out. Shit, it’s probably too soon,” Evan stumbles, the panic on his face evident and very cute.

Giving Evan a quick kiss, I respond, “I have feelings for you too, Evan.”

Pressing his finger against my lip, he silences me. “No need to say anything. I know how you feel and I can’t wait for the day that you say those words back to me.”

I smile back at him and think, fuck, I am lucky. This man loves me and all I want to do is shout how I feel from the rooftops. “You won’t have to wait long, I promise.” I tell him, pulling him into a heated kiss.

“That’s all I need to know – that the possibility is there,” he says, as we continue moving our bodies to the beat. “Stay with me in LA.”

“You want me to live with you?” I question, my heart racing. Shit, this all seems to be moving so quickly.

“Sienna, we have been living with each other over the past three months, I think that’s long enough. Plus I’m much better company than Christian and Vanessa.”

He had a point, looking at him I smiled. “Yes.”

This felt like a huge step in our relationship. Every single day and night we have spent together over the past three months have been wonderful. What could go wrong with moving in together?

“I need to take a piss, I’ll be right back,” Evan so eloquently tells me, leaving me alone on the dance floor. Watching as he disappears into the crowd, feeling buzzed, I start to dance to the music on own because I know he won’t be long. A couple songs later I feel hands wrap around my waist and I melt into his chest.

“I forgot how nice it was having you in my arms.” The male voice whispers into my ear.

Pushing myself away, I turn around. I am paralyzed to see Beau staring back at me. What the fuck! I shake my head in disbelief. Seriously how much have I had to drink?

“Hey Sisi, you look good,” Beau smiles, his eyes looking at me, appreciating what he saw.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” I question him, my eyes darting around the room hoping that Evan doesn’t walk over, because I’m pretty sure he would punch Beau in the face if he sees him.

“I had nowhere else to go; everything is fucked up,” he says, hanging his head. As he looks back up at me, I notice the black bags under his eyes. Looks like Beau has lost weight as well. Hang on, why the hell is he in London and not at home with his wife and baby? I don’t understand.

“You have two seconds to fuck off before I call security. Go home to your family you’re not welcome here.”

Hearing my comments, Beau takes a step back like I had punched him. I can see my words have hurt him but I didn’t care. My life is finally getting back on track. I don’t need my ex-husband coming in and fucking everything up. We are over; we have been for over six months. There is nothing more to say.

“The baby isn’t mine.” Beau confesses.

Everything stops, the lights in the club start to blur, I can feel my throat closing up. I need air, it’s too damn crowded on the dance floor. Pushing myself through the crowd away from Beau, I finally make it off the dance floor, the cool air hitting my face. I feel someone behind me, Beau starts talking again.

“I’m sorry to spring this on you; I have no one else to talk to. Everything I thought I knew wasn’t true. My whole life is one big fuck up.” Beau is on the verge of tears as he rakes his hands through his blonde hair.

Seriously, this cannot be happening to me right now.

Placing his hand on my arm, he whispers, “Please Sisi, I just need to talk to you.”

Pulling my arm away, I yell, “There’s nothing you can say to me Beau that will change a thing.” I see the hurt and anguish in his eyes and I am trying hard not to give a fuck but ten years of loving and caring for someone is hard to wipe away, especially when they are standing in front of you.

“Can we get out of here and talk?” He asks, giving me a hopeful smile.

“No, Beau, I’m here with my boyfriend,” I respond in a harsh tone. He tenses at the mention of my boyfriend.

“That’s right, Evan Wyld.” Beau laughs. “Who knew you would end up with your hall pass?” He says, shaking his head as if he couldn’t believe it.

“I’m sorry, Beau, I just can’t,” I state, wrapping my arms around my body to try and protect myself from him.

“Please, just coffee, I just need to talk. Things are about to happen in Australia. I just want to tell you first before it’s splashed all over the papers.”

Huh, now my heart is thundering in my chest, sweat prickling my skin. What is he talking about? Pulling out a scrap of paper he hands it to me.

“Here is my London info. I’m staying with Angus over in Chelsea. I’m going to be there for a while. Please, if you could just give me a moment then I promise I won’t bother you ever again. I need to talk to you Sisi.”

Clutching the paper in my hand, the desperation in Beau’s voice was worrying.

“Okay, I’ll meet you tomorrow around 11 am at Angus’ house.” I had a feeling I was doing something wrong here by agreeing to see him but I was curious at what was going on and why he is so desperate to see me.

Leaning over Beau gives me a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, Sisi. You’re looking good by the way.” Then he disappears into the night effectively putting an end to my happy mood.

Evan was still sleeping when I left the hotel. I know I should have told him but what could I say. Oh hey, my ex-husband just randomly turned up and needs to talk to me and I think I should go. Fuck, Evan would have a heart attack, probably hunt Beau down and give him some sort of warning. Hopefully, I will be back before he wakes up. He doesn’t need to know, not yet anyway, unless something serious is going to happen. I’m hoping it will be fine. I look around and make sure there is no paparazzi about as I step into the London black cab. Looking behind me making sure no one is following me, seeing nothing out of the ordinary but I still can’t relax. The last thing I need is photo’s of Beau and I together.

Ringing the doorbell of the Chelsea mansion, Beau opens the door with a relaxed smile on his face.

“You came,” he says, looking surprised. Yeah, I am surprised I am here as well.

“I’m still wondering why.”

Beau’s been around me long enough to realize I am not happy.

“I’ve got coffee and some doughnuts in the kitchen.”

He’s trying to sweeten me up with two of my favorite things.

We make our way towards the kitchen where he walks over to the fancy espresso machine and hits a couple of buttons. It starts making coffee.

“Bet Angus is happy to see you again. It’s been years since you caught up with him.”

Fixing my coffee, he remembers the way I like it; milk no sugar.

“Yeah, he was very surprised when I turned up on his doorstep.”

“Yep, I know the feeling,” I say, with sarcasm, while taking a sip of the coffee. I give him a stern look over the edge of the mug, just so he knows I’m angry with him.

“I’m sorry about surprising you last night. It was the only way I knew you would see me.”

He was probably right but still, it was wrong. “Okay, so spill. Obviously something has happened and apparently I need to know.”

I can see Beau visibly take a deep breath.

“Did you want to sit in the lounge? It would be more comfortable.”

Shaking my head at him, I shout, “No, Beau, just tell me what the hell is going on.”

“I found out that the baby isn’t mine last week. I found messages between Diana and the baby’s father,” he mutters, while playing with his fingers, twisting them as he spoke.

“Do you know who the father is?” I ask, putting my coffee mug down.

“Yeah, sure do. To say, I was shocked …” he trailed off.

Shit was it a mutual friend? A colleague?

“Dad is the father,” he says, calmly.

Huh, I don’t quite understand. What does Phillip have to do with anything?

“The baby is not my son, but my half-brother.”

Oh shit! Fuck, now I get it. Moving towards Beau, I pull him into a hug, because seriously what the hell? That is all kinds of messed up and he doesn’t deserve that. That’s when he breaks down, so many tears, my shoulder is soaked.

“I hate him Sisi. I hate him with every bone in my body. He is the one that pushed Diana onto me. He told her that he didn’t want his child to grow up a bastard. So they came up with a plan to pin the pregnancy on me.”

I stepped away from him to question him.

“So you never slept with her?” My stomach is somersaulting because if that was true … fuck I don’t know what to do about that.

Beau looked away. “No, I did sleep with her, but after she drugged my drink to make sure I went through with it. I remember it happening but the details were fuzzy. But then I did it once again when I was sober, so fucking stupid.”

What the fuck! She drugged him? I just don’t understand.

“I never loved her Sisi. That whole production in the paper, the engagement, it was all Diana and my father’s doing. I went along with it because I thought the baby was mine and it was the right thing to do. You have to believe me, Sisi; I would have fought for you if I had known it was all a lie.” Beau holds my hands in his, his thumb rubbing small circles over my palm.

“But you slept with her again, Beau, you still cheated. You chose her; you could have stuck up for me and explained everything. But you let your father rule your life again. I’m sorry this has happened, Beau but it doesn’t change anything between you and me,” I tell him, tears running down my face. “I have to go.” I grab my jacket as I head towards the door. I can’t be involved with this family anymore. It’s fucked up! Destroying your son’s happiness to tidy up your own mess is just so wrong.

“It’s coming out in the papers in the next couple of days; I just wanted to let you know.”

Fuck, the Australian media is going to have a field day with this. No wonder Beau escaped to London to get away from it all.

“Hopefully, no one cares about me and they leave me alone.”

Beau laughed. “That might be hard seeing as you are dating Evan Wyld.”

I ignored him as I put my coat on. “I love him, Beau. I’m moving in with him when I get back to LA.” I make my way towards the door, opening it I make it to the top step before Beau reaches for me. He turns me into his arms and his lips crash into mine in a kiss. Months ago I would have wished for him to kiss me like that but now, there is nothing. He makes me feel sick, pushing him away I slap him hard across the face.

“What the fuck do you think you are doing?”

Rubbing his cheek, he says, “I love you Sienna. I thought this would change things, knowing the truth. I want us to have a second chance.”

“I don’t love you anymore, Beau. I’m sorry. I’ve moved on and I think it is best that you do to. Stay here in London with Angus, start afresh.”

“Seriously, this is goodbye. I am never going to see you again?”

I can see that this realization has broken him. “Maybe one day we can be friends again, but not now.” And with that I turn around and walk out the door putting an end to my past. Because I have a wonderful future waiting for me back at the hotel.
