The next week goes off without a hitch. We go to sleep making love, and we wake up making love. We see all the sights. She said I was being absurd, that no one was looking, and if they did, they would never see her again. “Is it Theo’s guy? Has Zander found him?”

Shaking my head, I tell her harshly, “Fallon, don’t ask about my business.”

She doesn’t back down, though. “Gabriel, you can’t let me in on some business and then not answer when I ask about it all. I need to feel as if we’re a partnership.”

“Fuck, Fallon, it’s not that easy. I have lots of dealings that aren’t exactly legal, and I don’t think you should be involved.”

“Bullshit. You think I don’t know what you all do. I am quite aware of who I married and what family I belong to now. This is not a you anymore; it’s an us. We have to guarantee our children’s future. I will always be on your side, Gabriel, and the side of our family.”

Listening to her call me on my bullshit was sexy as hell, but hearing her talk about our family – and our children we don’t have yet – did it for me. That was all it took for my emotions to win over my head.

I grab her tightly and tell her, “Fallon, I love you. I know I’ve only told you the one time, but I don’t remember a day I didn’t love you. You are the first and last woman I will ever love. I know you’re scared, I see it your eyes, but don’t doubt us. I’m yours, all of me.”

She’s so quiet while her head hangs low. I feel her body begin to tremble. Lifting her face, I see tears. She’s crying.

“Don’t cry, baby. I just needed you to know I’m all in. I need you to trust me; some things I need to keep you safe from.”

Hearing Gabriel finally confess he loves me urges me to be bolder. Our kissing starts off soft and loving, then it slowly becomes desperate. I am so desperate for his touch, his love. Things are done as favors back and forth between associates that can be an asset to us. I know she understands that, but to let her know what it takes to fully get those jobs done is something I am not willing to give her.
