Azlo (Weredragons Of Tuviso) (A Sci Fi Alien Weredragon Romance) by Maia Starr (44)

Commander Nykon Reev

I was furious. Yes, I had offered myself as a sort of self-sacrifice to the war games. But I was not willing to sacrifice Amber. I had to get her out of this. But I did not know how. Two weeks had gone by, and I had been busy with training and planning. It took up all of my time. I barely had time to see my son.

The two weeks were busy, and I was grateful for the amount of work. It kept me from thinking about Amber in other ways. The last time that she treated me was when she told me about having to go to the games. I had not been treated by her since because my wound had healed. I was glad for the healing. I needed to be at top performance for the war games. I knew that I could win. I was confident in my skills. I knew who the victor wise in the Waysaw city. It was Evlon. He had been the victor for many years. I had seen him fight and I knew what I would be up against. Yes, he was a fierce soldier, but he was older. I had youth on my side, and I would take advantage of that.

But now, I had other matters to attend to. I finally had a meeting with Leader Hirun. I was going to try to get Amber and the other human female out of their responsibilities.

“Commander, how is the training? The soldiers look good from what I can see during the practice drills,” he said as I walked into his meeting room.

“It is going well. I am optimistic that we will give the Waysaw a great deal of competition. It is not going to be a problem,” I said.

“Good, and the plans are in place in case it is a trap, and a full-on battle occurs,” he said.

“Yes, we are prepared and willing to take advantage of that moment,” I said.

“Good. And what can I do for you today? You have requested this meeting,” he said.

“Yes, I have some concerns. The doctor is taking a treatment team to the games to attend to our injuries,” I said.

“Yes, but part of his team are two human females; they were former slaves of the Waysaw. It does not seem wise to have them returned to the Waysaw city. The Waysaw will try to reclaim what is theirs,” I said.

“We have already negotiated such a thing with the Waysaw. Humans are allowed to attend the war games along with the Grantsions crowds that will be in attendance. No harm will come to the humans; they have guaranteed it,” he said.

“Then that will be a different matter altogether. There will be soldiers assigned to protect the human females. They will be responsible for getting them out of the city,” he said. “You do not need to concern yourself with this. You only need to concern yourself with winning. That is your part in this. I know that you can do it, Commander,” he said.

“I understand. But I still think that it is a bad idea to have the humans go. What if we—” I said.

“That is enough commander. I will not waste another minute speaking of this. We have already decided on the matter amongst the leaders. It has been set. Now I must attend to other matters if that is all,” he said.

I walked out pissed off. I wanted to help Amber, and I could not tell the leader exactly why I did not want her to go. If I told him that it would be a distraction for me because I cared for her and I could lose the games because of this distraction, then he would know that I had been intimate with her. It was too risky. I could not say anything. Now I would have to go and tell her that I failed. I was not looking forward to it.

I made my way to her living quarters. It was dark out. Most of the village was having dinner in the communal kitchens. I made sure that no one saw me walking to her living quarters. I did not know if she would be in the kitchens or at home.

“Nykon? What are you doing here? You should not be here,” she said in a panic.

“I know. But I had to come,” I said stepping in. She closed the door behind me.

“We are going to get in so much trouble. You should not have come here. You are going to be found out. We are both going to get in trouble,” she said nervously.

“I just spoke with the leader about the war games and stopping you and Gina from going,” I said.

“Yes, but I failed. He would not listen to my reasons why you should not go. He is adamant that you and the other human will be going with the doctor,” I said.

She sat down on the bench. I could tell that she was scared. I walked over to her and sat down next to her. I put my arm around her, trying to comfort her.

“I know that you are scared. I am sorry, Amber, I failed you. I will see if there is another way. I will try to find a way to get you out of this,” I said.

“I don't want to go back there. It is too dangerous for me. I am scared, Commander,” she said.

“I know that you are.” I pulled her to me. Pressing her body against mine. I wanted to take all of her fear away from her.

Her words shocked me. “What are you talking about? Who is she?” I asked.

“Your wife. She came up to me a few weeks ago. She warned me to stay away from you,” Amber said.

“Because we promised to stay away from each other, so I figured there was no point. Her threats were meaningless because you and I promised to not be together,” she said looking up at me. Her big brown eyes were watery.

“Do you know how much I regret that promise? There is not a day that goes by that I do not think about how I could take those words back. It is not what I wanted. I want you, Amber. I cannot stop thinking of you. I care for you deeply,” I said.

"You do? I feel the same way. But it is wrong, Nykon. It is very wrong. We will get into trouble. If she found out, it would not be long until others did,” she said.

“Then let them find out. We are breaking the laws, it is true, but we are also going to the war games and who knows what is going to happen to us then. This could be my last month alive; you could be captured. So much could happen, and we should now live as though it is our last days,” I said.

She looked at me and then raised her chin to me. Before I knew it, her lips were pressed against mine. She got up and sat on my lap. I circled my arms around her. It felt good to have my arms around her petite body. I wanted her so badly. It had been too long since I’d touched her. She was the one that I could not stop thinking about. It was unbelievable because I did not have any taste for humans, yet that changed the first time that I kissed her. Even the first time that I laid eyes on her. She was everything.

She moaned as she wiggled on my lap and put her arms around my neck. She pushed her hands into my hair. I put my hands under her ample bottom and then up her back. I was trying to feel every inch of her as though I could memorize her. I kissed her with hunger, passion, and a desire to remember what her lips felt like. I was lost in the moment of being with this human female.
