Best Way To Wake up Ever

It's 11 pm. Saturday night, and I'm lying in my bed thinking about what had happened tonight. Logan is still a jerk, I decided. I hope when he said that he's not giving up, that's just him being drunk talking.

Poor Hunter, he's such a nice guy, I hope he'll find his mate soon.

I wonder what Constantine is doing.

I'm so going to kill my friends the next time I see them.

My phone goes off and starts playing Back at One by Brian McKnight. My heart starts racing, and butterflies do the crazy dance in my tummy. Constantine! I know it's a very classic cheesy song, but that's how he makes me feel. Gosh, I'm the sappiest girl ever.

I try to grab my phone on the nightstand as fast as I can, but my legs got tangled in the sheets, and I fall into an unsightly heap on the floor.

Owww... I think I broke my butt...again.

By the time I manage to break free from the vicious bed sheet, I'm out of breath.

“Hello?” I manage to say breathlessly into the phone, finally. My voice sounds more like I'm in the throes of passionate lovemaking instead of just having lost a fight with the ferocious, violent, and vicious bed sheet.

There's a noticeable silence from the other end for a few seconds before he says something, “Hi, what have you been up to, sunshine?”

Oh, my goddess! That voice. That deep, beautiful voice that makes my knees go all weak. It makes me even more breathless.

“N—Nothing…” I answer. Way to go, Genesis.

“Really? Nothing?” There's laughter in his voice now. “Should I be worried?”

“Uh...No?” Why does my brain stop functioning now, of all time to stop functioning? I must've broken more than just my butt from the tumble just now.

“Did I wake you up?” His voice is deep and smooth. I could get pregnant just listening to his voice.

Fuzzy slippers!

“No,” is all I manage to choke up.

“I didn't know you were this shy on the phone, sweetheart.” Oh, he's definitely laughing at me now! I can hear it in his beautiful voice.

“So... wanna have phone sex?” comes his sinfully naughty, sexy voice.

“What???”

He's openly laughing at me now. His delicious laughter echoes through the line.

Oh, my ovaries!

“Listen, I have to get going soon, my love. I know there's an eight-hour difference between us. It's morning here, and it's after eleven there. I just want to hear your voice and say goodnight. I miss you, sunshine,” he whispers. “Goodnight and sweet dreams, love.” A few seconds of silence in the line, then he's gone.

“I miss you too,” I whisper into a disconnected line.

Arghhh! Idiot! Idiot! Idiot!

I pound my pillow several times.  Why oh why can't I be like other normal girls?

I fall asleep with Constantine on my mind. I wake up Sunday morning with Constantine on my mind.

I'm missing him so badly that I don't feel like going out or watching any movies on Netflix. I finish doing all my homework though. Well, that's new. If this keeps happening, I'll be valedictorian this year.

Reese and River arrive later in the day and apologize for dragging me to the party. I shrug it off. I decided to forgive them after that phone call from Constantine last night. How would they know that it would end up like that? I know my friends meant well.

Penny arrives not long after and we talk about what happened. We decided that it's best if I avoid Logan as much as possible.

Penny thinks that Hunter is bae and confesses to having a crush on him. So, like good friends that we are, we tease her mercilessly after that. I didn't know that Penny actually has a crush on Hunter. I must have been very clueless about things around me all this time. Huh, who would have thought that? I think it would be great if Hunter turned out to be Penny's mate.

Monday morning, I don't feel like going to school, but I drag myself out of bed. I walk to school with my sister.

The staring and the whispering start as soon as I enter the school ground. I ignore them as best as I can.

I really miss Constantine. Something is seriously wrong with my world since he's not around. The thought that I rely so much on him to make me feel whole and happy scares me a little. Well, maybe a lot. But, oh goddess, how could I not? I didn't stand a chance the moment I laid my eyes on him and after he claimed me.

I meet Penny, Reese, and River by our lockers as usual. Today, I decided to use my mad ninja skills again to avoid certain people around school, especially Logan.

That mad ninja skill is totally crushed by first period. English literature, the Bane of my existence. I have Logan in that class with me.

For the first time ever, Logan is already sitting in his chair when I walk in with Penny. His ocean blue eyes follow me as I make my way to my seat.

Penny nudges me so hard, I seriously consider getting a new best friend. “Owww... thanks, Penny!” I scowl at her, furiously rubbing my side. One day, she's really going to break my rib cage.

Logan doesn't do anything else other than making me uncomfortable the whole period with his stares. As soon as the class ends, though, he grabs my wrist.

“You feel that?” he whispers in my ear, while his thumb strokes the inside of my wrist. Sparks flares where our skin touch. “I know you still want me as much as I want you.”

“Stay away from me, Logan,” I hiss, pulling my hand out of his grip.

“Would be easier if you just come back to me,” he retorts. Easier for who? I choose not to answer him.

“What an asshole,” mumbles Penny crossly, linking her arm through mine as we walk out of the classroom together.

It seems like the golden couple, Mia and Logan aren't together anymore. They're even sitting at different tables during lunch now.

Logan, however, has another girl sitting on his lap while he openly stares at me during lunch. So much for wanting me. He kisses her down her neck, then her lips, all the while keeping his eyes trained on me.

What is his problem?

Mia, who is sitting at another table glares at them, then turns to give me a death glare as well.

What did I do?

“This is fascinating and sick at the same time, you know,” remarks River, happily munching on his pizza.

“It's disgusting,” announces Penny, glaring at him.

“Just ignore them, GenGen,” advises Reese, squeezing my arm comfortingly.

Hunter flashes me a rueful smile, and I nudge Penny's side. She accuses me of trying to break her rib cage. My friend is such a drama queen!

School is uneventful apart from that. Well, by now I'd take uneventful over eventful any day.

I'm hoping that Constantine would call again tonight. I have a whole script memorized and a list of questions ready, just in case my brain decides to freeze again. Yeah, I'm that pathetic.

I miss Constantine. I wonder if he misses me just as much.

Maybe it's just all me because he never called. I fall asleep with the phone in my hand just so that I don't have to fight with the bed sheet again.

Early the next morning, I have a dream with mainly Constantine in it.

“Sunshine,” he whispers, as he lifts the covers up and climbs into bed with me. His strong warm arms gather me close and he buries his face into my neck.

“Constantine,” I sigh blissfully, burying my fingers in his thick silky hair.

Shudders run through me as I feel the length of his body covering mine. I wrap my legs around him, pulling him closer. He groans against my skin before he starts kissing, sucking and licking my neck, like a man dying of thirst, and I'm his first sip of water.

I start moaning aloud before he quickly covers my lips with his. This feels so good. My tongue finds its way into his mouth. The taste of him, I can never get enough of. I could stay in this dream forever.

“Sweetie, are you up? Don't be late for school,” calls mom, knocking loudly on the door.

Nooooo! I don't want to wake up yet. Not ever.

I open my eyes to stare up directly into a pair of gorgeous silver-gray eyes.

“Constantine?” I ask hesitantly, touching his cheek.

His eyebrows shoot up in surprise. “Do you have another lover waking you up like this every morning?” His voice is deep and sexy.

Oh, my goddess!

“You're here!” I wrap my arms and legs around him, and we both nearly fall off my tiny bed when I flip us onto our sides.

His chest rumbles with silent laughter as he shifts our positions so that we won't fall off my tiny bed.

“We arrived this morning. I came straight here. To be away from you for three days is killing me, sunshine,” he murmurs, nuzzling my cheek. “Are you happy to see me?” he demands to know. His mouth now travels to my neck.

“Umm...yes,” I reply breathily. So happy, he has no idea. His lips are doing things to me. My heart thumps crazily in my chest, and my eyelids flutter shut. “I should get ready for school,” I manage to slur.

“Uumm..yeah,” he mumbles between kisses. “Five more minutes.” He breathes, kissing and sucking on my neck. “I missed you so much.” His mouth travels down lower. “Tell me you missed me too.”

“I missed you too...so much,” I mumble back.

Oh, my brain isn't working when his lips are doing things to me. “Missed you...mmm...love you...”my hands are in his hair tugging him to me.

He pulls back all of a sudden. His passion clouded eyes are now looking alert and shining brightly. What?

“Sweetheart, you said you love me.”

Did I?

“I...I meant to say that I li-like you. That's what I meant to say.”

Urghh!!! I'm an idiot!

“No, no take back, darling.” He slams his lips to mine and proceeds to kiss me till we're both breathless. He pulls back and gazes down at me with such look of passion, tenderness, and love that I could cry.

“I love you too, sunshine,” he whispers, looking deep into my eyes. I think I just died. “No take back,” he reminds me.

He looks down at me, grinning wide. The kind of grin that makes him looks so adorable while manage to make me weak in the knees.

“I'll see you soon,” he says before he plants another kiss on my lips. Gentle and sweet, yet passionate. Then he disappears through the window.

I feel lightheaded like I was about to faint. I giggle softly to myself. I cover my mouth with a pillow as my giggle gets louder. I think I'm going bonkers and I don't care.

Best. Way. To. Wake up. Ever.

He's back! He's back!

He said he loves me. He loves me! I feel like singing that over and over again this morning.

“Looks like our moping girl is gone,” announces mom slyly when I get down for breakfast.

Is it that obvious? I feel my cheeks flood with color.

“Good morning,” I greet everybody as I pour myself a mug of steaming hot coffee. I can't stop smiling and I feel like my feet aren't even touching the ground.

“So, Constantine is back, huh?” asks dad. He seems to be very interested to know about the lycans now, especially Constantine's royal commitment and involvement with the palace.

“Yeah,” I answer, grinning wide.

Autumn rolls her eyes then flicks her Coco Pops cereal at my forehead. I catch it before it reaches my face and pop it in my mouth with a big smile. Her aim is good, but I'm better at catching.

Her mouth drops open. “Shut up!” she mumbles sourly.

“Glad somebody's happy,” declares mom, with a teasing smile.

I smile sheepishly and quickly sip my coffee to escape as soon as I can. I should make like a banana and split before mom starts asking questions or before I start spilling even without being asked because I feel like telling somebody. I feel like doing some crazy chicken dance too. I should get going before I start doing any of those things.

Oh my gosh, did I just drink my coffee black?

Constantine is already waiting for me when I step out of the house. He's leaning against the side of the car, looking hot in his dark blue jeans, a gray t-shirt and a pair of black high top sneakers. His arms are crossed at the chest, showing off his muscled arms. I just noticed that his hair is a little shorter than before he left but still as messy.

His eyes zoom in on me, as soon as I step out of the house. He straightens up slowly, looking alert. My tummy clenches and my heart goes crazy.

At least I paid attention to my looks this morning, more than I did the last couple of days. I have my black skinny jeans on, paired with a white sleeveless chiffon top and a pair of black ankle boots. I let my hair loose in its natural wave.

His gorgeous gray eyes are intense yet playful as he scans me from head to toe. His sensual lips slowly curl up into a sexy little smile as he watches me make my way towards him. It's a miracle that I didn't trip over my own feet.

“Good morning, stranger,” he murmurs when I'm standing in front of him.

I give him a big smile and he cups my face in his hands, leans in and places his lips on mine. The kiss is brief and sweet and gives me tingles all over.

“I love you,” he whispers against my lips.

“Mhmm...” I answer. I'm still not used to hearing him say that. My cheeks are flushing beet red, my heart is beating a thousand times per minute, and my vocal cord is lodged somewhere—probably at the bottom of my boots.

He silently and patiently waits for a few seconds before he finally says, “Sweetheart, you're supposed to say you love me too.”

I take a deep breath and says, “Yeah...what you said.”

He pulls back, looking appalled. He stares down at my face for a second before he bites his bottom lip like he's trying not to laugh, then sticks it out into a pout. How in the world can a pout looks so hot and manly on a man?

“Oh, I'm hurt,” he announces.

Oh, for the love of fuzzy slippers!

“I love you too! I love you, okay?” I say out loud...maybe too loud.

I hear snickers behind me, followed by giggles.

Autumn is giving me a disgusted look, while her friends are giggling behind her. I'd probably just announced it to the whole neighborhood!

Oh, goddess! I dive forward and press my face to his chest. I'm in hiding. My cheeks are flaming hot. I can feel the rumble of laughter in his chest. Kill me now.

He's driving the eco-friendly Tesla again today. I actually prefer this, rather than his two other flashier cars. He takes my hand in his and places our entwined hands on his lap while he's driving.

“I'm happy to be back here with you again, sunshine,” he lifts my hand up to his lips and kisses every finger. His lips feel soft and warm. My stomach clenches and my toes curl.

He keeps the back of my fingers against his lips, and I can feel his lips move as he suddenly smiles wickedly.

“Sunshine, about Friday... we never got to finish it. Would you pose for me again sometime soon?” I almost choke on the double meaning.

“Maybe,” I answer, looking away. My cheeks are flaming red, I'm sure of it.

He throws back his head and laughs that delicious laugh. His hand tightens around mine and his thumb stroked the back of my hand.

“You are adorable when you blush,” he finally says. Yeah, sometimes I suspect he purposely says things just to make me blush.

“Milan apologized about what happened on Friday. She didn't mean to interrupt us. She's just excited about having a girlfriend, you know. She never really had one,” he explains.

“Serena's great. Why aren't they friends?” I ask.

“I don't know, for some reason, they never get along that well. So, I'm glad that she's taken a liking to you,” he explains.

Truth is, I was pretty pissed after she interrupted us on Friday, but I'm not the one to hold grudges for too long. Depending on the crime, I sometimes need a couple of days to cool down. Most of the time, though, I forgive my friends easily after they apologize.

I find myself being pulled into a big tight hug by Milan when we get to school.

“I'm so sorry about the other day, Genesis. I didn't mean to bother you or anything,” she apologizes. “I guess I was just getting too excited. It won't happen again.”

“Yeah, okay,” I reply before Caspian pulls me away and gives me a big bear hug of his own.

“Glad that you're back too, Caspian,” I manage to say before Constantine pulls me away with a growl. Caspian shoots him a wicked grin.

I smile at Serena when she gives my hand a gentle squeeze. Lazarus just pats my shoulder affectionately.

Yup, I'm glad that they're all back. Even Caspian.
