Lawyer's Secret Omega: M/M Non-Shifter Mpreg (Dewey Cheetum & Howe Law Book 1) by Bella Bennet (13)

Chapter 13

Ryan

I woke up snuggled between the wall and a hot body. Marcus was snuggled so close to my back that I was sweating. I kicked my legs out and tried to flip some covers off, but I was smashed between Marcus and the wall, so I couldn't move much. Plus, he had his arm around my chest and I was locked down tight.

I tried to push him back, but he was hard to move. He must be solid muscle. I smiled, remembering how those muscles looked when he was naked. I kept pushing back, but he wouldn't wake up for anything.

I decided to slide under his arm to the bottom of the bed. I got out from under his arm and sat up, amazed that we both fit on my single bed. Marcus was almost falling off the far side of the bed, though. I either needed to get a bigger bed, or we needed to spend our nights together at his place.

A thrill shot through me as I thought about us spending many more nights together. We really were a couple now. This wasn't just a one night stand, or a couple times, or some workplace affair. This was actually the real thing. I hugged myself, smiling, as I looked at Marcus's bare chest. God he was so fucking hot. I couldn't stare for long, though, because I really had to pee.

I didn't know what Marcus thought of our tiny apartment. It didn't sound like he had grown up with money, but I could be wrong. He went to college, so that had to mean he had once been in a small room with a small bed too. I wandered out of the bathroom and into the kitchen. Either I was starving because I was pregnant, or I didn't eat much yesterday. Pregnant. I couldn't believe it. I was relieved though, now that I knew the cause of my little belly, my puking, and my crazy emotions. It's funny how things got easier to handle once you knew the cause.

I poured myself a bowl of raisin bran and went into the living room to see what was on TV. I was going to have to go shopping for some paternity clothes. I couldn't wear sweatpants again to work. My plan for buying bigger slacks over lunch on Friday sure as hell didn't work out. I had no idea where to go to get paternity pants. Maybe Lance would know.

Marcus wandered out of bedroom, looking around, and smiled when he saw me. "You were gone. I think it woke me up. How are you feeling today?" Marcus couldn't stop smiling and that had me tearing up again. He rushed over, crouching down in front of me.

"What's wrong? You're okay, we're okay, why are you crying?"

I shook my head, wiping my eyes. Fucking hormones.

"I'm not sad, I'm just so happy." Then I started crying harder.

Good job, me. That's a good way to make your new relationship go well, just cry out of nowhere.

Marcus didn't seem to mind though, as he sat down on the couch, held me, and rubbed my back. If he can put up with this craziness and stay with me, he's a saint.

I was finally done crying and was just sniffling when Lance came out of his bedroom. He took one look at my splotchy face and ran into the living room.

"What's wrong? Is everything okay?" He sat on the other side of me, rubbing my shoulder. I sat up, shaking my head and wiping away the rest the tears.

"I'm fine! It's just the stupid hormones. I was so overwhelmed with joy seeing Marcus coming out of my bedroom that I couldn't stop from crying!" I covered my face with my hands because I was so embarrassed. Lance howled with laughter. That jerk.

I lowered my hands to glare at him and looked at Marcus. He smiled like he had won the lottery. This was so weird. I was still scared that this would come crashing down. It all seemed too good to be true. I just had to get it through my thick head that Marcus really was here for me.

"After you eat breakfast and get ready, we need to go shopping for clothes. We'll have to get tops that make room for your growing stomach, and we'll definitely need to get pants that show off your ass."

I just stared at Marcus. Did he just say I should show off my ass? Marcus winked at me and went back in the bedroom. I turned to Lance with my mouth open.

"Wow. You are one lucky omega."

I smacked Lance on the arm because he was staring at Marcus's ass.

"Hey, don't blame me. He was wearing nothing but briefs! What was I supposed to do, cover my eyes?"

I rolled my eyes and shook my head. Yeah, I didn't blame Lance at all. Marcus did have a nice ass.

"Besides, it looks like he certainly noticed those new clothes I bought for you. Yes, that's right, I'm the reason why you two finally got together! You can honor me by naming the baby after me."

I threw a pillow at Lance as he laughed and ran to the kitchen.

Marcus

Ryan looked like he was nearly dead on his feet. I figured maybe some new clothes would perk him up. I wouldn't let him go to some cheap store to get paternity clothes, I was going to make sure he had the best. I asked Lance where he had found the clothes he had gotten Ryan, but it was a clothing consignment store. I was not walking into a consignment shop.

I called my friends to see if they knew of any good quality omega paternity stores. I spent the afternoon checking them all out. He had enough clothes now for the rest of the pregnancy, even though he moaned the entire time about the cost.

"Ryan, please just let me buy these for you." I stared at him in the backseat of the car until he finally turned his head to look at me. "You have no idea how much money I make in a year as a partner. Let's just say, I can support an omega. Don't be at all concerned with money. Ever."

Ryan stared at me and let out a sigh, then looked out the other window. I frowned.

What the hell was up with him and his issues with money? I shook my head. I was going to have to get it out of him somehow. He had some serious hang-ups about some things, I could tell. We would have to deal with that at another time though, became we were exhausted from shopping.

We were now heading back to my place to sit in my tub. I also had a Jacuzzi on my terrace, but it was a little windy today and a little windy down at the ground meant really fucking windy up high. We'd have to stay inside today.

I carried most of the bags up to my penthouse. Ryan wanted to carry all of them but I wouldn't let him. He was going to have to get used to somebody taking care of him. I really wanted to meet his parents. I was very curious about them, and his childhood. His deep need to not be independent had to have come from somewhere.

"Ryan, why don't you put those in the bedroom and we can put them away later? I'll start the tub so we can get in as soon as possible. I don't know about you, but I could sure use a nice long soak in the tub."

Ryan stopped walking and turned around to face me.

"Why would I put them away? I need to take them back to my place."

Okay, it looked like we were going to have to deal with something sooner than later.

"Ryan, you're pregnant with my child. We're in a relationship. This relationship is going to be permanent. You're going to move in with me at some point. Why not move in with me now?"

Ryan dropped the bags, and backed up until he stopped at the other wall in the hallway. He held his hands up while staring at me with wide eyes.

"Whoa. Hold on there. This is just a little too fast and you haven't even talked to me about any of this. I don't like people making assumptions without even talking to me. That is one of the problems I've had with every freaking alpha I've dated. I do not, at all, want you to do the same damn thing to me."

Oh shit. I set down my bags.

"I'm sorry. I just assumed that we would be moving in together some point. I guess it was wishful thinking and hope that we would be together. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have assumed."

Ryan was still upset, but not freaked out anymore. I slowly walked toward him with my hands out. "Can I give you a hug?"

Ryan put his arms down, nodding his head. I wrapped him up in my arms. The guy was a wreck. I held him, rubbing his back until he wasn't as tense.

"Let's go sit in that hot tub okay? We'll sit there, relax, and we'll feel better, okay?"

He nodded his head, still leaning against my shoulder. Dating Ryan was going to be like taming a wild animal.
