Lawyer's Secret Omega: M/M Non-Shifter Mpreg (Dewey Cheetum & Howe Law Book 1) by Bella Bennet (8)

Chapter 8

Ryan

It hadn't been as embarrassing waking up the next morning with Marcus as I thought it would be. I had been worried that he had been too drunk to remember what we had done, like some exes of mine who forgot everything when they had been drinking. However, he had remembered everything and he wasn't embarrassed or ashamed. He even remembered the shower sex and the possibility that I could be pregnant. He still felt the exact same way he had the night before.

I shook my head, still amazed. He was an alpha, strong and assertive, even arrogant at times, and yet he was so tender and loving. I even had a feeling that he was excited about the chance of me being pregnant. He had sworn he was never going to have kids and yet he was happy about the chance of me being pregnant.

I thanked the driver and got out of the car at my apartment building. Marcus had called his driver to take me home, which was thoughtful. He wanted me to stay the whole day but I needed to get back home. Lance would be waiting to hear how the party went and oh boy, did I have some stuff to tell him. Besides, I needed time to decompress from the weekend, catch up with Lance, and do chores. I wasn't the type of person that was going to spend the whole weekend in bed with someone I wasn't even dating. At that thought, I blushed. God, I had been a complete slut last night.

I rode up the elevator, then turned took out my keys, when my apartment door suddenly opened. "Ryan! I wondered where you were! I was beginning to get worried."

I rolled my eyes and walked into Lance's hug. The truth was that I had completely forgotten to tell Lance I was spending the night somewhere else. We had a rule with each other, one we developed after a bad night Lance had several years ago. We always texted one another if we were spending the night.

"I'm sorry. I completely and absolutely forgot."

"Thank God. I was hoping that was the case. I knew you were going out for drinks with your work friends. I hoped you were just partying all night and were hungover with the other paralegals."

I couldn't hide my blush.

"Oh my God. You got laid!"

I blushed even harder. Oh, what the hell. I let my smile out and nodded.

"Yup."

Lance threw up his arms and cheered.

"Finally! Tell me all about it. I want to know who it was, how good they were and if you're seeing him again! Is it too early for margaritas?"

I frowned.

"Yes. Definitely. But maybe later on tonight we can have them."

"So come on, spill it."

"Let me just get some other clothes on and get something to drink first."

"Fine. I'm going to get you sparkling water and wait out here on the couch."

God these clothes were going straight in the wash. They smelled of sweat and, I took a sniff, Marcus's scent. Oh God. I sniffed the shirt again. I missed him already. Just sniffing the shirt had me smiling, happy and relaxed. I was an idiot for coming home.

"I don't hear any movement in there? You didn't fall asleep did you?"

I dropped the shirt.

"Hold your horses!" I finished changing my clothes and walked to the living room in sweatpants and a T-shirt.

"Now spill!" Lance shoved a glass of water at me and I chugged half. "Wow. I've never seen you come back from a night so thirsty."

"Well that's because I didn't do much drinking." I drank the rest of the water and then told Lance everything. I couldn't stop smiling the entire time. Last night had been a dream come true, literally.

"I'm really happy for you. But, this is going to make things at work really weird."

I nodded my head. Boy, I knew that. I worried that Marcus would regret things by Monday and I'd get moved to another attorney's team. Or worse, back to Mercado's section. If any of those things happened I would just have to deal with it. At least I had one night with my fantasy lover.

"Yeah, I know. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. For now I'm just going to relish in the fact that I got a night with my dream."

Monday wasn't as weird as I thought it would be. I couldn't manage to control my face though. When I saw Marcus, I blushed and looked down. I couldn't stop the little smile I had on my face either. Thank God Luke and Amy thought it was just because of my previous ogling of Marcus dancing with Eric. They teased me mercilessly about it, which was fine by me. As long as they didn't know the real reason I was blushing, I would be fine. They wouldn't believe me for a minute if I told them Marcus and I had gone to his penthouse and had sex all night. Never in a million years would anyone believe that. Luke wanted to find out what happened the rest of that night because he couldn't remember. We made plans to meet up in front of the elevator to go out for lunch.

I walked to the restroom, and was washing my hands when the door to the men's room opened. I looked up and saw Marcus. I blushed but didn't look down. Marcus smiled quickly, darting his eyes all around, then whispered, "Is anyone else in here?"

I looked down and around but I didn't see anyone. "No."

I was drying my hands when Marcus came over, grabbed my face and kissed me. I wrapped my hands around his waist and held him tight as we kissed hot and fast. I was so relieved. He wasn't pretending it hadn't happened, he wasn't ignoring me or even worse, wishing it hadn't happened.

"I want to kiss you forever. We can't let anyone see us, though. Let's go in a stall. A few seconds of kissing isn't enough for me." He let go and stopped, probably having noticed the cringe on my face.

"I'm actually going out with Luke and Amy for lunch. I don't have enough time if we don't want to get caught." Marcus frowned.

"I understand. Have a good lunch." He then grabbed my face, gave me a quick kiss, and walked off.

Dammit. I finally had Marcus, but we still had to sneak around and hide. I walked out the door and saw Luke and Amy waiting at the elevators. Thank God we hadn't spent any more time in the bathroom. Luke probably would've come in looking for me.

Marcus

This had to be the most unusual relationship I've ever tried to have. I needed to show I cared about him all without raising suspicions at work. If that happened, it would be disastrous for the both of us, but probably moreso for me because I had more to lose.

This also had to be the first relationship in which I had not actually gotten the guy's phone number. I had no way to contact Ryan outside of work. I didn't know why that had slipped my mind, but somehow it had. Of course when I saw him in the bathroom, getting his phone number was the last thing on my mind. Damn my dick. I was thinking with the wrong head. This wasn't going to end well if I didn't get control over this.

That's what got me in trouble in the first place, my thinking, demanding dick. I've wanted Ryan for years, but I knew better than to go after a coworker, let alone a subordinate. After just a little bit of alcohol, and a little bit of dancing and my brain went right out the window. Now here I was, acting like a school kid with a crush, unable to pass notes, unable to do anything out in the open. This was insane. I was a professional attorney, a well-respected partner of the law firm, and well past the age where I should be pulling stupid shenanigans like this. Yet, here I was.

I hoped Ryan didn't think this was a one time thing, that I was happy ending it here. Ryan wasn't the type of omega you had a one night stand with. He was the kind of guy that would be looking for a long term relationship. He would be a perfect marriage partner, if truth be told. All of this made me feel even more guilt than I already did.

I knew that I wasn't the kind of guy that should have a long-term relationship. I really don't even think I could. This wasn't going to end well. I had a very bad feeling about this, but I couldn't stop myself. I wanted him, I had him, and now I was going to make sure he knew he was mine. No one else could have him. I paced around my office, shaking my head at how unbelievably stupid I had been. Where the hell had my brain gone, the one that could think and plan several steps ahead of any situation? Apparently when my dick leads, nothing is planned out in advance. Thanks, dick.

I thought of checking to see if Ryan was back from lunch yet. It was embarrassing how much I needed to see him, and how much he settled me with just a glance from his beautiful eyes. I smoothed my hair back and opened my office door, casually glancing at the paralegal section. They were back from lunch and Luke was leaning over my omega again.

I clenched my fist and told myself to breathe slowly through my nose. I had to calm down or I'd storm over and push Luke away from Ryan. Or punch him. Should I even be thinking of Ryan as mine since I already knew I couldn't do relationships? Should I let Ryan go and have a happy life with someone like Luke? All of me was screaming no. I was such an idiot for even considering a long relationship with Ryan, but I knew my mind had already been made up the second I spotted him in the club hallway.

I walked out of my office, my emotions now under control. I wouldn't do anything crazy, but I was going to make it known that Luke was to stay away from my omega. If Ryan didn't want me to do this, he'd need to tell me to stop.

"How are things going with your research into the Foreman case?"

I bit the inside of my cheek to keep from smirking when I saw Luke jump. He stood back up, flustered. I moved over a little more, encroaching in Luke's personal space. He took a few steps back. I turned my body so my back was toward him. Hopefully he would get the message that I didn't want him hanging around Ryan. "Have you found out anything new or anything that we could use?"

Ryan looked up at me, then glanced towards Luke and Amy before he smiled. It wasn't a workplace smile to a friendly boss, but a smile that was meant for the man that made him scream. I didn't even try to hide my smile. I wanted Ryan to know I returned his feelings completely. I glanced quickly at Amy and then winked at Ryan.

"Yes, actually one of the private investigators did uncover some rather interesting news. I-"

"Don't say anything about the case outside closed doors. We don't want anyone subpoenaed for what they overheard. If it's something that could definitely add some more artillery to our side, then let's discuss it in my office."

Ryan nodded. I walked towards my office, trailing the back of my hand across his back as I walked by. Oh sure, I was going to see him in a few seconds in my office, but I couldn't resist touching him sooner.
