Protecting My Prince: A M/M Contemporary Romance by Alexander, Romeo (17)

Chapter Nineteen

Beau

The sound of the gun echoed through the room. The gun itself was tiny but produced a loud enough pop to make my ears ring in response.

Blood shot out of Kurt's shoulder, but it didn't slow him down. He jumped on top of Old Leather and pushed his arms to the floor. Old Leather struggled against the weight and loosened his grip on the gun. Kurt grabbed it from him, emptied out the bullets, and tossed it across the room.

So here Kurt was, butt-naked on top of Old Leather inside this steamy sauna, holding him down as the two were grunting at each other. I knew I should be scared, and I was, but something came alive in the deepest part of my reptilian brain and I was turned on.

Watching them wrestle together naked was hot. Real hot.

Kurt's arms were bulging as he screamed. "Who sent you? Who do you work for?"

Old Leather just grunted in response, then brought his hand up to hit Kurt in the face with a swift blow. They both stood up and got into a fighting stance. Their stances were different, Kurt seemed solid and still, whereas Old Leather moved a bit and leaned in, spreading his legs apart. Kurt took a swing and Old Leather ducked, shooting his fist forward into Kurt's abs. The solar plexus. Kurt keeled over, and Old Leather ran back towards the corner with the gun in it.

Baldie came down from his bench towards Old Leather just in time for Old Leather to slide a bullet into the chamber of the gun and aim it at him.

"On the floor, both of you," Old Leather said. He collected another bullet off the floor, "That's bullet number two," he said, loading it into his gun. "Still need two more," he looked around. "Three," he leaned down, picked it up. "And the last one's for you, Prince Beau. Do you see your bullet?"

I didn't. I didn't want to look for it, but my eyes worked on their own, and I found myself staring at it.

"Thank you," Old Leather said. "I was hoping it was just going to be you and me in here, Beau, and I wouldn't need to go through the entire chamber, but always be prepared. Sorry, the rest of you."

He pointed the gun at Baldie, pulled back the hammer, and then screamed.

I looked down and saw Kurt had taken a towel and used it to push a heated rock against Old Leather's foot. Old Leather fell over, and Kurt grabbed the gun, pointing it at him.

"Are you going to talk?" Kurt asked.

Old Leather spat at him.

"I was hoping you'd say that."

"Kurt, no!" I jumped forward and pushed his arm away before he could fire. Old Leather grabbed his towel and limped out of the room.

"What the hell are you doing?" Kurt asked.

"I'm going after him," Baldie said, and took off.

"You were trying to kill him," I said.

"He was trying to kill us, it was self-defense. Justifiable."

"I don't care," I said. "I don't want anyone dying for me. If he wants to kill me, that's on him. We're better than he is. We're not going to do that," he was holding his arm, blood dripping down. "Let me take a look at your arm."

"It's just an in and out shot," he said. "We just need to wrap it and I should be fine."
