The Judge (Secret Garden Novel - book Book 1) by Katherine Laccomt (1)

Noah

“Call the Cops and have them find her.”

“Mr. Lancaster,” says the head of security, “We can only report a disappearance after 48 hours.”

“I’m a judge in this town, my authority must mean something. And besides, it could be payback...” My patience is running out and my desperation is taking hold. Where’s Alyssa gone off to?

“My darling, she is an adult, you have to stop that. Alyssa must be just having fun with her friends,” Carly comes in and tells me.

Alyssa doesn’t have many friends and most of them are nerds. They’re not the kind to have fun at night. Getting together to conduct scientific experiments sounds more like them. Since my parents died a few years ago, I feel the need to protect my little sister from everything. I brought her from New Jersey to live with me in New York, where I’m a judge. Despite being an adult, I felt better having her under my care, after all, she is the only family I have left.

Alyssa is twenty-eight years old, and a successful neuroscientist. We’re very much alike physically, blond hair, green eyes, her white skin highlights the delicate freckles on her nose and cheeks, something I don’t have. Beauty is a family trait; a lot of people think we’re supermodels when they first put eyes on us. Modesty aside, I do own a mirror.

I’m thirty-eight years old and my judicial career was meteoric. I worked hard, from a young age, towards becoming a respected judge. When I was sixteen, I saw a friend die in the hands of some drug dealers, in that moment I decided to do my part in the society, by becoming a judge. I’m not looking for revenge, I just want a safe place, where people can have the right to come and go as they please, without fear of something happening or that they could get killed.

I’m not married, but I have a serious girlfriend that moved in with me a few months ago, lately I’ve been wondering if it was the right thing to do. Carly is a beautiful woman, tall, a gorgeous body, maybe a little too thin. Small breasts, short and straight dark brown hair. Her mouth is her best feature, it looks perfectly drawn and the she gives a hell of a great blowjob. At first, I used to think she was good in bed, sometimes if felt kind of forced, but her blowjob made up for everything. I can’t say I think that anymore...

I met Carly at one of Christopher’s parties, he’s one of my best friends, and we’ve been together ever since. She is an advisor to an important political figure, a position that doesn’t allow us to be together constantly. And the fact that we are apart so often is what keeps us together. I like being with her, but marriage, for now, is not part of my plans. My life is very good just the way it is. Come to think of it, my relationship with her has been better, we had more to offer each other, especially in bed.

Lately, my life has been so monotonous. Nothing surprises me anymore, or even challenges me, and that gets me bored and, consequently, in a bad mood. Alyssa’s disappearance was what got me out of this months-long slump. I don’t think this is fun, it’s just that being nervous raised my adrenaline.

I grab my phone and move to the balcony, away from everyone, to make a call.

“Rebecka?”

“Hi Noah. Are you okay?”

“Not as much as I’d like. I want one of your best girls...”

“Your regular?”

“No. I want something new.”

“I already have someone in mind. At what time?”

“Any time. I have to deal with something and then I’m coming over.”

“Okay. Noah?”

“Yes.”

“You know you can always count on me, right?”

I take a deep breath.

“Yes, I do, Becka. Thank you.”

“Anytime, Your Honor.”

Rebecka is a great friend, widow of one of my best friends, Roger Lamarque, who was killed during a shady mugging. Roger and I grew up together and lived at the same middle-class neighborhood. In our teenager years, we met Christopher and, two years later, Benjamin, or Ben, like he prefers to be called. We were inseparable, we’ve been through a lot together, unforgettable adventures.

I remember the day he met Rebecka, she was one of the best-paid top models in the world. It was love at first sight, and it was very nice to see them together. What I admired most in their relationship was the fact that she wasn’t bothered by his friends, by us. On the contrary, she fit in so well she became one of us.

Once we were moving up in our careers, we felt the need to have a place where we could distract ourselves. Roger, fresh back from a season in Amsterdam, had the idea of opening a nightclub only for VIP’s, where anyone could only get in if they were invited by other members. And so, we founded the Secret Garden, Roger was the owner, but we, Christopher, Ben and I, we were on the Board.

The club offers performances by beautiful girls on the stage, including striptease. Gorgeous ladies are available at the floor, to entertain anyone in the place. The best place in the club is at the bar, we have a huge range of drinks, some even handcrafted, and Becka managed to bring in the most special ones. Speaking of Becka, when she heard about the club, she was against it. She never wanted to have anything to do with the place. But after her husband passed away, she not only took over, but she also turned it around. To be a client of the Secret Garden today is the dream of many people out there.

The girls working there are College girls, most of them are only there to finish paying their student loans. We do have a few professionals, and they charge a fortune to perform their acts to the crowd. They also take house calls and it’s not cheap, but the club is not a part of that. We have three bartenders, two guys and a somewhat mysterious woman, they add a certain charm to the club.

I look at the security guards, moving around the garden, and I think, since when do I need so much security? Just one guard would be enough to me, but this house needs an army. I live in a mansion just outside of Manhattan, in an upscale neighborhood, even though I do prefer my penthouse at Fifth Avenue. That penthouse is just as luxurious as this mansion.

Carly insisted I moved into a house, claiming this would be more welcoming for Alyssa. But I just don’t think a house this size is so welcoming, we barely run into each other even when we’re all at home. To talk to my housekeeper here I have to place a call. At my penthouse, speaking a little louder would suffice.

I had my girlfriend move in here so that my sister wouldn’t feel so lonely and, in the end, I can barely see that girl. Alyssa isn’t the kind to go out and not give us any news, she’s always been very responsible. What’s going on with my sister? Someone knocks on the door and interrupts my thoughts.

“Benjamin is here to see you, Noah,” Martha, my housekeeper, announces.

“Man, it’s hard to talk to you today,” I turn around and see him right behind her. “Martha, we talked about this Benjamin character. I don’t know who this guy is.” She walks out smiling and shaking her head. “What’s wrong?” he comes towards me, we shake hands.

“Alyssa is missing for a few hours now, she hasn’t called or anything. What about you, what brought you all the way here?”

“I heard that your boring girlfriend was away, so I came here to have some drinks with my friend that got himself a wife, a mansion and...,” Ben unbuttons his tailored suit and sits on the couch in my Study.

“Who has a mansion?” Carly walks in and Ben makes a face. He’s not fond of her, in fact none of them are. I wish they would accept her like they did with Becka, but deep down, I’m grateful that it didn’t happen. The chances of a marriage drop drastically with that. Thank God!

“Someone we know,” I say, making a face towards Ben.

“Good evening, Benjamin,” she turns to him.

“Good evening, Carly. Well, Noah, please let me know once you hear from Alyssa,” Ben says, while getting back up.

“Where are you going?” I ask.

“Home. I don’t want to get in your way. See you later, Miss Porter.”

I walk him to the door.

“What do you have against Carly, Ben?”

He stares at me.

“We have nothing against her, but you have to admit that she’s not very sociable. We go along with it because she’s with you, just don’t ask for any more than that from us.”

“Okay. Thanks. I guess...”

“About your sister, if you need anything, give me a call. And make sure to let me know when you find her. Good night, Noah.”

“Good night, Ben.”

These guys are my rock. When my parents died, five years ago, they were my support system, mine and Alyssa’s. They dropped everything to stay with us in our time of mourn. It wouldn’t mean so much if Christopher wasn’t an important politician, about to become a United States Senator and Ben, one of the top three criminal lawyers in the Country. And I couldn’t forget about Roger and Becka.

I’m still at the door when a familiar car pulls into the driveway. A redhead woman gets out, goes around the car and opens the passenger’s door. With difficulty, she helps a drunken Alyssa out of the car. I run towards them and grab my little sister in my harms.

“What have you done to my sister?”

“I brought her home,” her voice is strong, but smooth. She looks at me with a serious face, raising an eyebrow that seemed designed to perfection.

“What have they done to you, little girl?” I come in and quickly climb the stairs, racing to put my sister in bed and to call a doctor.

“She drowned her sorrows in two glasses of vodka. Aside from a hangover, she’ll be fine in the morning.”

I turn around to ask what that horrible woman is doing inside my home and that was the worst shit I could’ve done. The sight of that woman with her long red hair, incredibly white skin and large green eyes is like a mirage. Her body is sculptural in those black leather clothes, her breasts are big, her waist is small, the hips are wide, it made my dick react on the spot!

“Who are you?” She looks familiar.

“I’m a bartender at the Secret Garden, Your Honor,” she smiles and leans on the door frame. I look at her and notice her long-heels boot. So hot...

“I knew I’ve seen you before...” I cross my arms and ask her, “What the hell did you do to my sister?”

“She showed up at the club, a little nervous and all, and since she’s your sister, they let her in,” her smile goes away, and she stands straight, “She sat at the bar and asked for a stronger drink, I didn’t want to let her down with a weak one, but also wouldn’t give her anything to knock her down. Just by looking at her you can tell that she’s not the type to drink.”

“So?”

“I poured her two shots of vodka, and I called Mrs. Lamarque over. She kindly asked me to bring her home safely.”

“I don’t know what is going on with her...” I look at my sister one more time.

“She is a good girl, and like any good girl, she chose to swallow whatever it is that’s bothering her. She kept saying something about a fool who bought a big house he didn’t need for a nasty woman that won’t make him happy. She also said that she can’t stand to be surrounded by security guards and that, after the idiot moved into the mansion, he pushed her aside...”

“Did she say it like that?” I ask, getting closer to her.

“Fool and nasty were my contribution, but that was pretty much what she said. Why?”

“Because I’m the fool and the nasty woman is my girlfriend, my future bride,” God willing, in a very distant future.

“I’m sorry...” The look on her face is hilarious.

“Ain’t you the Counselor of Desperate Women? The mind that convinced that bastard, Isaac, to marry one of the girls?” I point at her.

“I didn’t convince anyone to do anything. I just helped Nicki realize that she was too good for that asshole friend of yours,” she takes a step forward, “And one more thing, Your Honor, fool is too kind for a guy who makes his own sister find a reason to get drunk.”

“You’re such a petulant woman,” I give another step in her direction, standing face to face with her.

“And you’re an arrogant man!” She doesn’t move away.

“Rude woman!”

“Stupid man!”

“I can have you arrested for contempt or for being a fraud, with this counseling of desperate women business of yours!” Her delicious perfume fills my nose, annoying me even more.

“I’m not a fraud, I’m just helping women, so they won’t fall for tricks of assholes like you!”

“Assholes like me hate frigid pussies like you!” without touching her, I manage to trap her between the wall and my body.

She opens her mouth into a perfect O, getting even more beautiful. I’m about to kiss her when I hear Carly call out for me. I back away and walk towards Alyssa, who still sleeps, drooling all over her pink pillow.

“Who is this woman, Noah?” Carly asks, checking the girl out from head to toe.

“She is...” I stare at the redhead woman while trying to think fast about how to introduce her.

“I’m Madison, a friend of Alyssa’s. Well, Your Honor, your sister’s home, safe and sound. So, I’m on my way.” I finally breath, relieved. If Carly finds out about the club, she won’t give it a rest.

“Thank you, Madison. I’ll ask someone to drive you home.”

No,” she raises her hands, “There is no need. Good night.”

Carly volunteers to walk her to the door and they walk away. I sit on the white and pink polka-dotted beanbag at the foot of the bed and contemplate the emptiness. What just happened? Who is that woman? I adjust myself, just thinking about that mouth makes my dick hard. It has been a while since a woman turned me on like that, but the fact she is a headstrong feminist ruined it right away. Shit!
