Rock F*ck Club by Michelle Mankin (25)

"RAVEN." LUCKY GATHERED the covering of silk at my hips and crushed it in his grip as he drew me to him. The heat of his skin seared me like a brand of ownership, but the way his hands slightly trembled as if in awe of what I had just offered him melted away most of my lingering concerns. "Angel,” he breathed dropping his forehead to mine. Ebony strands and fields of blue filling my vision, he rasped, "Yes. You and me. On the bed. Against the wall. With you in those heels. I want to have you every single way I have imagined at least once before we start on your to do list." His sensuous lips curved into a dark smile. I interpreted it as a deposit on the completely wicked one he would give me later when we were both naked. "I want to be inside you. I want you to feel me with every single move."

"Yes." I twined one of my arms around his neck, smashing my breasts that were peaked, aching and braless to his solid chest. It felt sublime to be held by him, though I was frustrated by the barrier of my dress because I knew it would be better, so much better, with nothing between us. Staring into his eyes, twin glaciers sparkling as if struggling to contain the passion that blazed within him, I traced the supple leather cord around his strong neck with my thumb. "Soon. You had better deliver. I want it all, everything you said." I glided my hands across his skin. Warmth and electricity buzzed everywhere my flesh connected with his. I swore I could feel the tension in his body. He wanted me. Badly. But he was holding back.

"If it wasn't for Sky and my mates I would flip up the hem of that dress, rip aside whatever undergarments you have on and sink my cock inside you this moment, concert, record label and the rest of the world be damned. But..."

"I understand," I said, but the fingers I had threaded into his hair failed at patience. They tugged urgently on strands that felt like satin in my hands. I wanted him now. He had ignited a fire in my blood the moment the door to the dressing room had been opened and my eyes had locked with his. The scrap of lace between my legs was wet. My clit throbbed. An emptiness inside of me longed to be filled. To be taken. To surrender to this madness between us, and let it consume us both.

"Lucky," Sky called. "It's your turn to get made up." The frontman sighed, his warm breath ghosting my lips before he repositioned me under his arm. "Alright, dearest."

"I should probably go help Marsha in the booth," I said, but I didn’t really want to go. I reveled in my position at Lucky's side, not to mention the palpable pre-show excitement that we all sensed.

"Stay," he insisted, his fingers curling more firmly into the bare skin at my shoulder, his grip warm and cold at the same time, an intoxicating blend like the man himself.

"Yes, stay," Sky repeated. “You said you wanted to see how I did his makeup.

"You did, eh?" Lucky grinned. "Why the interest?"

I am interested in learning everything about you. That telling thought shoved its way to the front of my mind, but vocalizing it would reveal too much. Determined to be honest, I couldn’t give him the keys to unlock every single mystery inside of my heart.

"Because your sister is wickedly talented." I glanced around at the others. Rocky with his hammer shaped eye mask. Alec with his shooting star. Cody with his treble clef tears. "She couldn’t do all that without an inventive mind and a steady hand. Or this." I gestured at myself. "She takes what she has to work with and enhances it subtly." I had never felt more beautiful than when I had looked in the hotel mirror after she had finished. My hair hung in seductive curls she had arranged around my shoulders. My gold eyes appeared to glow within the smoky liner she had applied. And my lips seemed fuller with the nude lipstick that glossed them.

"Thank you, Raven." Sky beamed and got right to work on her brother, her kit on the brightly lit dressing table counter on the other side of him.

Lucky’s eyes met mine as I moved in front of him, watching over her shoulder as his sister used a liquid liner wand to accentuate them. His gaze gleamed with hunger beneath the shadow of his bangs. 'I'll have you and you'll take it,' those eyes seemed to say. But unlike with JGB, being the focus of Lucky's passion excited me because I realized I really did believe, even without his sister's endorsement, that I would be safe with him, at least for this night. A shiver rolled through me as he continued to hold me captive with his blazing bright blue eyes. The wildness within them seemed to intensify the thicker the kohl frame Sky drew became. Heart beating fast, I had an urge to bolt but not to run away. I wanted him to pursue me. His nostrils flared as if he sensed my arousal. Focused on her task, Sky added the slash marks to his cheeks, lime fluorescent rather than black claw scratches tonight. I imagined myself naked and lying on the sheets beneath him, those slashes glowing in the dark. I drew in a shaky breath through my parted lips. Lucky's gaze dipped then lifted. "Whatever that thought is you will share it with me later, and I will make it happen." The hands he had at his sides curled into his palms. "Every fantasy you have will be fulfilled. You will be mine." An arrogant grin appeared on his sensuous lips. "There will be no running away tonight, but even if you try I guarantee I will catch you."

I WASN’T MUCH help in the merch booth. Marsha and Sky did most of the work. Sales remained brisk throughout the Dragons’ performance, especially during the fifteen minute intermission, when fans jazzed up on their music appeared en masse to purchase the t-shirts, ball caps and silicone concert bracelets.

"Go on already," Marsha straightened from the plastic tub she had been digging through for the appropriate size tour shirt the customer had requested.

"But..."

"Go,” she repeated. “See the last number. Let him see that you're waiting. We're nearly sold out of most of the stuff any way."

"Alright." I kissed her cheek and squeezed Sky's hand before scooting around the folded table barrier and practically sprinting into the theatre. Inside, I showed my all access lanyard to security and glanced at the stage.

Alec stood on his left in a leather jacket, Cody on his right in an unbuttoned white shirt. Rocky sat perched on the riser behind him in a black vest over a tattered grey shirt. All of them wore jeans that seemed even bluer in the indigo light. Lucky commanded the center of the stage in only black leather. He tipped a bottled water to his lips. Mesmerized, I watched his throat and that leather cord around it bob as he swallowed. Drenched in a sheen of sweat, his skin glistened, his black hair was slicked back from his handsome face and his blue eyes shone brightly. "Alright, Boston,” the sexy Dragon frontman said into his mic, his long fingers curled around it as he acknowledged their thunderous applause with a sweeping gaze across the venue. "You've been bloody great tonight, but you could be even better. So I need everyone to put their hands in the air."

On my way down to the front, I had to duck in and around people who had spilled out of their red theater chairs. They clogged up the aisle, hands up as requested, eager to obey.

"That’s right," Lucky praised his followers and stepped a booted foot up to the center mic. His silver adorned fingers strummed the strings of an ebony Les Paul that was his favorite electric guitar. "We're debuting a new one tonight,” he explained as he played chords I recognized. It was the song I had heard rehearsed in sound check. "It's called," Lucky spotted me, 'She's the One'. I blushed as profusely as Sky had earlier as his eyes hit me. I told myself not to read anything into the title but I certainly did. I couldn’t help it. "We hope that you like it." Lucky turned to face Cody. The rhythm man added a complementary set of chords to Lucky’s, and the lead singer started crooning the words to a bluesy piece that reminded me of the Rolling Stones' 'Beast of Burden'. As it had been in the dressing room, I barely noticed anyone else. It was as if it were only he and I, his music and his words.

I’ve had lovers who’ve come and gone

They cut my heart out, left me alone

With nothing else than wounded pride

And an empty hole inside.

Been runnin’ blind, but now I see

It’s plain as day that she’s the one for me

An angel’s body begs me to sin

You hear me knockin? Girl, let me in.

She’s the one

She’s the one I’m certain

No more foolin’

No more flirtin’

She’s the one

She’s the one for sure

The one I want forever more.

I know one day that she’ll be mine

‘Til that day comes, I’ll keep on tryin’

To make her see that I’m her man

It ain’t that hard to understand.

That she’s the one

She’s the one I know

And if I catch her

I won’t let go

‘Cause she’s the one

She’s the one, it’s true

No one else could ever do.
