Madison slips off of my lap and stands. She takes a breath before shoving her books into her bag.

She pushes her hair back with one hand, and her cheeks are red. She won't even look at me.

"You can borrow my notes for English too. I'll make copies and put them in your locker."

"I'm sorry. I don't know what...I'm sorry," the last words are soft and she looks at me for barely a second before slipping her bag on her shoulder and walking off with purpose.

"Madison, wait." I try to stand up and shove the shit into my bag to catch up with her.

She needs to let me explain.
