When the fireworks were over, Allison was drunk on my touch, practically mewling in my arms.
“Please,” she whispered. “Let’s go to the bedroom.”
I snaked one hand under our blanket and cupped her left breast. “Your heart’s beating awfully fast,” I said in mock concern. “Maybe you should refrain from intense activity.”

“Let’s get you over to an exam table,” I said, sliding my finger slowly out of her.
She shrieked and laughed as I picked her up. I carried her, still straddling my waist, into the cabin. I looked around for something that would do as an “exam table,” and grinned when I saw the kitchen counter where I’d fixed our drinks.
“Perfect,” I whispered. I laid her down on the counter. Goosebumps, caused by the cool granite surface, dotted her flesh. “I’ll need you to remove your clothing for purposes of the examination.”
She bit her lip and reached behind her to untie her bikini top. Her breasts sprang free, and her nipples were still at attention. When I reached for one of them, she said, “Ah, but I’m not undressed yet. Has the examination already begun?”
I raised my eyebrows at her. “You’re not going to be a difficult patient, are you? Difficult patients don’t get a lollipop after the exam is finished.”

I gazed at her body, illuminated by the soft moonlight that came in through the windows. “So, Ms. Mahoney, is it?”
She nodded and licked her lips.
“I’m Dr. Tolbert, and I’ll be performing your exam today. We’re going to start by testing your reflexes.” I touched her ankle and traveled up toward her knee, massaging her lightly as I went. “I want you to tell me when the sensation gets to be too much. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” she said.
“Good. Now let’s begin.” I rubbed further up her thigh until my fingers touched her delicate pink folds. She was glistening and wet for me. I tried to hide my smile and pushed a second finger in next to the first.

“I think you might be ready for a more thorough exam,” I whispered.
She just nodded, her eyes half closed, her mouth parted slightly.

I watched her eyes close and listened to her breathing grow deep and regular. No woman had ever meant so much to me or captured my heart like Allison was doing. I sucked in a pained breath at the thought of all the angst she’d endured because of what Jamie had told her. I wanted to wring that little punk’s neck.
But what she’d said—that he was my brother, and hurting him would hurt me, too…no one had ever cared about me like this, cared about my family and what they meant to me. All my other girlfriends had cared about was my money or my looks.
I leaned over to rest my face against the top of her head. She was mine, and she was precious. I had no intention of ever letting her go.
