I gasped as Adam’s hand slipped down my waist as he kissed me and fumbled carefully with the button of my jeans. “Mmm… I did,” he agreed wholeheartedly, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear. I closed my eyes as he came toward me and kissed me softly on the lips. He brushed his hand along my cheek, tracing his fingers gently along my jawline.
When he pulled away, I sat up properly and started gathering my clothes. “If this is going to be happening, though, we should probably keep it separate from our living situation. You know, keep what’s happening in here private, and what’s happening out there, out there. I don’t want fights over the dishes to start creeping into to bedroom or pent up sexual tension spilling over into a dinner party.”
He laughed. “Alright, agreed. We’ll keep our nocturnal activities exclusively in the bedroom from now on.”
“Thanks.”
“Vanessa, I want you to know that I didn’t invite you to move in here just so I could get you into bed. That’s wasn’t my intention.”
“I know, this just sort of happened.”
“Is that going to be a problem for you? I don’t want this to get weird.”
“Neither do I,” I told him honestly, gazing back at his naked chest and body. “But I don’t want to stop, either; the sex is too good.”
“Oh, thank God,” he sighed. We smiled at each other briefly before a thought occurred to him and his expression shifted. “Fuck, I forgot about Max.”
I raised an eyebrow and stared at him like he was crazy. “I hate to break it to you, Adam, but your bedroom talk is severely lacking.”
He laughed. “No, I mean, when we were talking the other day about how you and I moved in together, I told him we weren’t involved. That nothing was happening.”
“So? I lie to my brother all the time.”
His smile faded, and he eyed me seriously for a moment. “I’m not comfortable with that. Max is my best friend, and I don’t want to lie to him. I think we should come clean.”
“Ugh, fine. Which one of us do you think should tell him?”
“I’ll do it,” Adam offered. “Just promise that if he ends up killing me, you’ll avenge my death.”
I laughed at him and smiled. “Okay, deal.”
