Dear Kate (The Letters Book 1) by Elizabeth Lee (17)

Chapter 18

“What do you mean you've never been fishing?” he asked with a laugh. They'd spent the morning lounging in the sun, the afternoon exploring the trails that led around the lake's edge and now he'd taught her how to build a proper fire. Deacon wasted no time pulling Kate into his arms as they cozied up in front of it. Not that she was complaining. The day had been more perfect that she could have ever imagined.

“What can I say? I'm a city girl,” she said looking over her shoulder at him. “The suburbs is about as far as I go.”

“I've got a lot to teach you,” he said. “Camping, fishing... How do you feel about hunting?”

“I draw the line at shooting animals,” she said, staring into the fire. The sparks and flickers of the flames were mesmerizing. Almost as mesmerizing as staring into Deacon's eyes. She couldn't believe how much of a girl she turned into when she was around him—gushing, flirting, and letting him prove to her that chivalry was nowhere near close to dead. He was ruining her for every other man. The entire day, he'd gone out of his way to make sure that she was comfortable and safe. He'd offered her a hand each time the trails even looked remotely treacherous on their hike. He'd rushed a sweatshirt to her when she said she was getting chilly. And now, he was holding her in his arms with her back against his chest like he was cradling something precious. She liked it. A lot.

“Good,” he laughed. “I'm not big on sitting in a tree when it's freezing ass cold.”

“Common ground.”

“We've got a lot more than that in common, Katie,” he said, dropping his lips to her neck. He placed kiss after kiss across her skin as she tilted her head to the side giving him better access. When he reached her earlobe and sucked it between his lips, she felt every nerve in her body sizzle. She could already feel herself burning hotter than their campfire. She turned in his arms the best she could and let him kiss her lips until they were both clawing at each other—her trying to pull him closer, him trying to slip his hand under the sweatshirt she'd pulled on. “See?” he said. “Now we both want to go inside.”

“We do,” she agreed. “Right now.”

He stood quickly and helped her up before extinguishing the fire. “After you,” he said, opening the door for her.

The moment they were inside and the door was closed, she grabbed his shirt and pulled him toward her. His body crashed into hers and his hands went to her hips. Their mouths found one another—tongues colliding with such ferocity that both of them nearly stumbled as they made their way toward the bed.

“I love kissing you,” he said, laying her out on the bed.

“I love kissing you,” she replied. She hadn't missed the way her heart skipped a beat when the words I and love came out of his mouth. Too soon, she told herself as he began removing his shirt. She sat up on the bed to help him.

Deacon tugged her jeans down her legs and kissed his way up her legs. Slowly, tortuously pressing his lips to each calf, each knee, each thigh and dancing his mouth around her most sensitive spot. His tongue slipped between her folds and toyed with her clit nearly causing her to leap from the bed.

His fingers slicked through her wetness and began orchestrating a masterpiece of sensations with his mouth and hand. He dipped a finger inside of her, and she watched through half-lidded eyes as he smiled at her response. Her hips rose, asking for more. Unable to deny the beautiful girl laying in his bed what she wanted, he continued moving his fingers until he felt her muscles start to quiver.

“Right there,” she said, when she felt his fingers curl to just the right angle. He flicked his tongue against her clit in a rapid rhythm that added fuel the fire building inside of her. Something unintelligible roared off her lips as he continued to push her to her limit—in and out, back and forth. Her heels dug into the mattress, giving her leverage to work her body against his hand.

He pushed his pants down with one hand. When he removed his fingers from inside of her, she nearly whimpered, but he quickly centered his body between her legs silencing her with a kiss. Kate reached down, guiding his cock to her center and urged his to push into her with her heels against his ass.

She felt the muscles in his arms tense as he slowly entered her. “This never gets old,” he said, pushing himself into the hilt.

“Let's hope not,” she acknowledged, lifting her hips to spark a movement. A soft laugh escaped her causing her entire body to tense and release.

Deacon moaned and moved his hips. Kate met each and every move he made by lifting her hips allowing him to go deeper and deeper with movement. The moment she felt her body begin to tremble, he slowed his rhythm drawing out her orgasm to what she would classify as earth shattering. She felt him throb and spill inside of her.

“God, please don't let this get old,” she panted when he collapsed beside her. She laughed at the fact she was literally praying that their sex life continued to be spectacular.

“Amen,” he said with a ragged breath. “Amen.”

The next morning, Kate woke up without a care in the world other than laying in that bed all day.

“Good morning,” Deacon said, resting his chin on her shoulder. His arms tightened around her.

“Good morning,” she replied, scooting her hips back until her body was flush with his. The warmth of his skin against hers felt nice. She'd woken up in a cold bed alone for too long. “I don't want to get up,” she said, turning over to face him. He adjusted his body so that she could rest her head on his chest. The sense of comfort she felt his arms was unparalleled.

“So don't,” he told her. “It is Sunday,” he reminded.

“I don't plan on it,” she said with a grin, looking up at him.

“Atta girl,” he said, dropping a kiss on her forehead.

She let her eyes fall shut for a moment as she listened to his heartbeat under her ear. When she opened her eyes again and realized that moment had turned into three hours, she was more than surprised. She looked at Deacon who was still sleeping. She sat up, taking the bed sheet with her.

“Good morning, again,” Deacon said.

“I didn't mean to wake you,” Kate said.

“Yanking the covers off a guy will do that,” he laughed.

“It's noon,” Kate said, picking her phone up off the nightstand.

“So it is.”

“I haven't slept this late in fifteen years.”

“How do you feel about it?” He chuckled.

“I'm not sure,” she answered, leaning back against the headboard where he was now seated. “Rested. I guess.”

“That's the point of sleep, Katie.”

She nodded, but couldn't stop from feeling a little antsy. Her mind was racing with all of the things she needed to do and the extra burst of energy she felt with a few added hours of sleep was refreshing. She wanted to call and check on Vanessa. She felt like going for a run. She had a briefcase full of work that she wouldn't mind getting a head start on.

“Let's make some lunch,” Deacon said, causing her to stop her wandering mind. “Have some coffee,” he added. “Then maybe we can work a little.”

“Work?” Her ears perked. “Seriously?”

“Seriously,” he confirmed. “I've got a few emails I need to respond to. We can work from home together,” he suggested.

“Deal,” she said, jumping from the bed with a squeal. “What have you got to eat in this place?” she asked as she ducked into the small bathroom. “I'm starving.” She was giddy after their night together and with his promise of letting her sneak in a little work she was downright dizzy with excitement. She wasn't going to be as far behind as she thought she'd be on Monday if she managed to make good use of her hour.

“You're something else,” Deacon said, laughing at her enthusiasm. She remembered him telling her how hard he was falling for her last night. Her feelings were just as deep and she was pretty sure they were forever kind of feelings.

“I'm one of a kind, Deacon Yates,” she said, poking her head out the door with a smirk. “Don't you forget it.”

“Couldn't if I tried.”
