Hollywood Dreams (Hollywood Hopeful Book 1) by Molly O'Hare (14)

Chapter Fourteen

Maggie slammed her front door behind her after Danny and Lexi dropped her off. Anger and annoyance were raging through her. How dare he accuses her of practically having sex on the dance floor! How dare he act the way he did? All she wanted to do was find out why he had given her the necklace, but no, he had to go all crazy again. And, then him telling her he was paying for her car? What a load of-

Just then Pocket made an appearance. As if on cue, he came around the corner screeching at her. “Dear Lord, Pocket. Do you have to yell so loud? Can’t you see Mommy’s angry, or at least sense it? Don’t animals have that sixth sense?”

In true Pocket form, the cat blinked slowly at her, judging everything she was doing.

Growling with frustration, Maggie ignored her cat and stomped to her bedroom. She threw off her shoes, tossing them in different directions not caring where they landed. She then pulled out the pins in her hair, bent at her waist and with her fingertips massaged out her hairdo, enjoying the feeling of her hair being free. When she was done, she straightened, tossing her long locks through the air. “That’s better,” she mumbled.

Maggie looked at herself in the mirror and sighed. He hair was a mess now, which was fitting seeing as her dress had food all over it still. How did it come to this? How had one role on a film end with her here? Standing in front of her mirror, with her whole life spiraling out of control. If only her grandma were still alive. She’d know exactly what to do.

Maggie chuckled. She probably would have given her a shot and told her to put on her big girl panties and kick some ass. I miss you, Grammie.

Pushing those thoughts from her mind she reached behind her looking for the zipper on her dress. After what felt like a deep-sea search for treasure she grabbed a hold of it. She started to pull it down, only to realize her dilemma. Unless she had arms like an alien that can magically elongate, there was no way this zipper was going to go down. She started spinning in circles to try and maneuver the zipper. When that didn’t work, she started jumping up and down. “What the hell?”

With jumping and then spinning not working she decided to combine the two. “Why the fuck do they make dresses you have to have someone else take off for you. That is beyond stupid!”

“That’s exactly why they make dresses like that,” a deep voice said from behind her, startling her. “Those types of dresses are only for the start of a night.” She heard a growl.

She spun around to see Trevor leaning against her bedroom door frame, Pocket at his feet.

She screamed.

Oh god!

“What the hell are you doing here?” she yelled. She threw her hand over her heart. Her breath was already ragged from the excursion trying to get out of the dress. Having Trevor scare the bee-geebers out of her, did not help. Once she got her breathing under control she narrowed her eyes at him. “How in the hell did you get in here?” she demanded.

Trevor pushed off the frame walking to her. “I knocked on the door and knocked loudly. You didn’t answer. I knew you were here so I tried the door. I’m not surprised, your door was unlocked. You seem to be blindly unaware of your own safety.”

“Excuse me?” she huffed.

Pocket screeched in his own protest.

“Jesus!” Trevor looked down at the cat.

“Leave Pocket alone!” Maggie poked Trevor in the chest.

“Why does it do that?” he asked.

“He’s just like his momma. He doesn’t like egotistical jerks breaking into his home and then insult the person that feeds him tuna.”

* * *

Trevor watched as Maggie stood there glaring at him. Let her glare. This was all her fault anyway. If she had never walked into his life, he’d be out fucking some model right now. But, no. Instead, he was here wanting to rip his hair out. He’d come over here to finally straighten her out.

After knocking loudly on the door, he tried the handle and was surprised when it opened. Anger had rolled over him. Didn’t she know this wasn’t the best part of town? Hadn’t they already had that discussion? He pushed through the door, turned and locked it. When he looked around, all he saw was the thing she called a cat. The slow blinking really creeped him out.

He heard grunting coming from the other room and what sounded like a commotion, so he followed it. When he arrived at the bedroom the sight before him nearly knocked him flat on his ass. Maggie was jumping around in a circle with her hands behind her back, grunting. The sight of her chest bouncing felt like a punch to his gut. Any second now, those more than a handful globes, would be slipping out of that dress. A dress, he knew she wasn’t wearing a bra with. How could she? It plunged so low and was so tight she’d never had fit one on.

Shaking his head, he looked down at the screaming four-legged creature. “How do you know that’s what it’s saying? What if it’s really siding with me and calling you an idiot for leaving your door unlocked while you jump around with your tits out asking for anyone to walk right in and take whatever they wanted.” His nostrils flared as he watched her, waiting for her reply. Didn’t she give a shit about her own safety? Any Tom, Dick, or Harry could walk right in here while she was off in la-la-land and attack her. Jesus, she was really so fucking naïve.

The thing screeched again. What the fuck was wrong with it?

“I know exactly what he’s saying. I’m his Mom. Not you, numb-nuts!”

Trevor growled. Why in the hell did her sass turn him on? When he first saw her bouncing around, his blood migrated south. Seeing her spit fire at him now had his dick straining against his zipper, trying to break free. He was sure it was leaving a mark on his skin.

He took a step closer to her. His eyes locked on hers. “Doesn’t matter. You need to care about your safety. I shouldn’t be able to just walk right in here.”

“Even if the door was unlocked you still shouldn’t have just walked in here, you jerk!” She moved closer to him. They were now only inches apart He loved that she never backed down. When he would try and use his size to intimidate her, she’d be right there matching him step for step, never backing down. “And what gives you the right to pay for my car repairs?” She poked him in the chest.

He growled deep in his throat. This woman, this curvy, loud-mouthed, pain in his ass, beautiful woman was going to be the death of him.

“I have every right to pay for your repairs. I would have bought you a new fucking car if I knew you would have taken it. But, let’s be real, you’re too stubborn for that.” He looked down at her. Her face was red and her breathing ragged. Fuck! Why did she get to him so bad?

“You have absolutely zero right to do or buy anything for me! Until the event earlier, you have been nothing but a complete asshole to me.”

“I took you home once,” he defended.

“And you insulted me!” She glared at him. “Do you think insulting and humiliating me makes you a nice guy? Did you get dropped on your head when you were a baby?” she asked.

He growled deep in his throat as his dick jumped.

“And no, you have no right to do anything for me!” She put her hands on her hips.

Trevor looked her up and down, the red on her face had now colored her chest. He couldn’t help but wonder if the blush went all the way to her nipples. His dick jerked again. Groaning he looked back at her face.

Seeing her eyes glare daggers at him caused something inside of him to snap.

“I have every right,” he demanded. “Want to know why?” He didn’t wait for her answer. He cupped her face in his hand. “I take care of what is mine.” He brought his lips down to hers.
