Love and War: A Bad Boy Romance (Small Town Bad Boys Book 2) by Annette Fields (14)

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

LIAM

Fuck, fuck fuck.

Working mandatory overtime to cover three people’s patrols was the last thing I wanted to be doing. Rather than dropping Hazel off at home and chugging as much water and coffee as humanly possible to sober up, I should’ve been buried in her sweet, delicious pussy.

I was still reeling and aching from blue balls as I suited up for the night. She gave hints of being a sweet submissive our first night but she really turned it up this time. And I loved every fucking second of it.

Lots of girls seemed to like bits of dominance here and there but I could tell it really got her going. She was so, so wet and practically shaking with the desire to please me and do as I said. It blew my mind how she was so good and so eager. I was just on the verge of really taking her and losing control when I just had to answer my stupid fucking phone.

I guzzled down my third cup of coffee and checked my pistol before holstering it and heading out to my patrol car. It was going to be a long night and Stubbs knew he owed me big time for this shit.

I knew all three patrol routes like the back of my own hand and decided to get the biggest pain in the ass out of the way first. The highway.

Cloverville sat on a major state highway with three exits in and out of town. The first one was always the busiest and where we caught most of our careless and reckless drivers.

Since I was one person doing the jobs of three people, I wouldn't be required to meet our recommended quota for tonight.

Watch me pull over twice as many fuckers than the regular on this shift, I thought as I carefully backed the squad car off the road right next to the offramp.

The first few hours passed by in the most boring lull. A few speeding tickets and a broken tail light. A constant ache in my balls kept me thinking of Hazel. If I called her and told her to come out here and suck me dry, she'd do it in a heartbeat. I knew she'd be a good girl like that.

I pulled out my phone and contemplated doing just that. She'd probably love getting handcuffed and fucked in the back of my car with my uniform on too. Just the thought of her naked with her hands cuffed above her head to the door while I gave that needy, wet pussy the pounding it deserved got me aching for a release.

Too bad I would definitely get fired and blacklisted from any law enforcement agency in the country if we did that.

Just as I was about to turn the ignition and move on to my regular downtown patrol, a roaring engine and squealing tires made me freeze.

A dark, beat-up hatchback came flying down the offramp and never even attempted to slow for the stop sign just up ahead. The driver was definitely speeding and drove erratically as if they were drunk.

I sprung into action, roaring the engine to life and pressing the gas pedal to the floor as I turned on the lights and sirens.

In mere seconds I was on the driver's bumper as he waved through the streets, making turns that were far too wide and cutting across curbs and lawns. I relayed the license plate number to Stubbs at the station and also called for medical backup in the direction I was headed. This person would likely hurt himself if not another driver or pedestrian.

"Fuck, what is wrong with you," I muttered to myself. The suspect was not driving at high speeds, which allowed me to stay right on his tail, but this fucker must have been blacked out drunk because he continued on as if he didn't even see me.

"Suspect is heading northeast on Flores Street toward downtown, still driving recklessly with no sign of compliance," I reported into my radio. "Requesting permission to PIT."

"Permission granted, 515. Go ahead."

Adrenaline surged through my body as I accelerated my vehicle to pull up alongside the swerving hatchback. I rarely used PIT maneuvers and only as a last resort. But if anyone on the force could do them well, it was me. And I had to stop this guy before he killed someone.

As carefully as I could, I lined up my front bumper to the other vehicle's rear wheel and sharply turned my steering wheel right into the hatchback.

We both went spinning as expected. This maneuver was dangerous and could be lethal for both police and suspect if not done correctly. A quick flash of Hazel's face floated through my mind as I regained control of my vehicle.

Thankfully there were no homes or pedestrians around, which was the best case scenario.

I looked around for the hatchback to see that it had been finally stopped by a thick cluster of bushes alongside the road. I couldn't care less if the drunk asshole hit a tree or flipped his car over, at least he finally couldn't hurt anyone else.

"Suspect's vehicle has stopped. Driver appears to be conscious. Send a medical team to Flores and Snowdrop."

"10-4, 515."

Shining my flashlight on the driver, he didn't look much older than a teenager. His airbag never deployed but he was wearing a seatbelt which he was trying to painstakingly remove.

"Good evening!" I announced cheerily. "Here, buddy. I'll help you with that."

"Naw, man. I'm good."

Ignoring his slurred protests, I yanked his door open and released the catch on his seatbelt. He leaned over to the ground and promptly vomited.

"Whoa, now!" I said, leaping away before vomit could spray onto my shoes. "Had a bit to drink tonight, did we?"

"No..."

"Aw come on now, buddy," I said, bringing the pale-faced kid to his feet. "Let's not waste each other's time." I wheeled him around to face his car and slapped my cuffs onto his wrists, the ambulance sirens gradually getting louder in the distance.

"You got any ID on you, buddy?" I asked as my hands grazed across his torso and waistband to check for weapons. A bump in his chest pocket made me pause.

"Right back pocket," he murmured.

I retrieved both his wallet from his jeans and the small baggie from his shirt. My heart nearly stopped when I saw white powder wrapped tightly in the plastic bundle.

Quickly tucking the baggie into my own pocket, I examined his driver's license in his wallet.

Wesley Mills, seventeen years old and Cloverville resident.

Fuck, this kid was still a minor.

My head spun in circles at trying to make sense of what I just found. What was a local kid doing with a baggie of heroin in his shirt?

I spun him around to face me as the panic grew in my chest and the sirens grew louder.

"Hey, kid! Wesley!" I clapped my hand a few times on his face, just hard enough to get him to focus, and held the baggie up in front of his eyes. "Where did you get this?"

"Uhhh. I dunno what that is..."

"Don't fuck with me. Where'd you get it? Who'd you buy it from?"

"I dunno. Wanna lawyer. Fuck the police."

Fuck.

I stepped away from him as the ambulance pulled up, allowing room for the paramedics to examine him for injuries, and dropped the heroin in an evidence bag.

The kid would be charged with a DUI and the first felony drug possession in Cloverville in five years. Unless he got a good lawyer, he’d likely be charged as an adult and face maximum sentencing.

A whole life wasted. For a high.

I sighed heavily as I leaned against my car, thinking I could've been in bed with Hazel right now or even a few hours from now. But my night was about to get even longer.

“Officer Barnes! To what do I owe the pleasure?”

“Don’t fuck with me, Solomon,” I growled into the phone. I already said that too many times today.

He chuckled amusedly on the other line. “A little testy, are we?”

“Do you know anything about a Cloverville resident, a fucking minor, possessing heroin?”

“Yes. I’m already dealing with it,” he said as smoothly as a serpent.

“So what the fuck happened? You’re supposed to be in control of your people and keep that shit out of this city. That was our deal.”

“To err is human, Officer Barnes. One of my salespeople got a little greedy and wanted some fast money. He has learned his lesson. You won’t see any more substances within Cloverville limits. You have my word.”

“I had to turn it in as evidence,” I snarled.

“Naturally. You were doing your job. An amount that small won’t affect my business.”

“Do you realize my dad will want to investigate?” I hissed. “He won’t stop until your delivery route through Cloverville is blown wide open.”

“We’ll adjust our route and decoys as necessary then proceed as normal. Nothing will lead back to you.”

“Huh,” I scoffed. “You know you’re awfully eloquent and cerebral for a small-town criminal.”

“That’s why I’m good at what I do,” he said cheerfully. “Any other concerns, officer?”

“I swear to you, Solomon,” I spat into the phone. “If I so much as find a trace of something more dangerous than marijuana in this town I will expose everything myself, do you hear me? The only reason I agreed to this deal was to keep Cloverville safe. If fucking high school kids are able to buy drugs, we’ve got a fucking problem.”

“Understood,” he said after a brief pause. “You do your job and let me do mine.”

“Make damn fucking sure that you do.”

Without another word, I hung up the phone.
