His Intern: A Billionaire and Virgin Romance by Lillie Love (25)

Julien

I was in a shitty mood. The week had not gone to plan as I expected in any way at all. It felt like Pieter was watching my every move, observing my actions from a distance. It didn’t help that Ellie was professional, yet extremely cool with me. I hadn’t fucking done anything wrong! And to top it all off, we were going to be working together in approximately ten minutes, with Van Wyk observing my methods and Nina assessing Ellie’s. This was going to be fun.

I made my way down to the operating room, pushing open the door with my elbows. I nodded briefly to Pieter and Nina - who shot me a smug smile as she consulted her clipboard.

Glancing at Ellie, she briefly looked at me and then quickly busied herself with the equipment. The tension between us was so thick I’m sure it was obvious to our spectators. Thankfully, this was a quick procedure - rhinoplasty on my 25 year-old male patient, who was already under anaesthetic. It wouldn’t take more than half hour. I got to work, making small comments to Pieter along the way, explaining my method of the bone reconstruction. Ellie barely glanced at me as she passed me the instruments, refusing to make any form of eye-contact unless absolutely necessary. At least I had her full attention, which is the most amount of time I had with her all week, aside from our cell phone conversatio on Monday. I concentrated on my patient, trying not to be affected by her presence, ignoring the heated looks between Nina and Ellie.

As soon as I finished the procedure, I snapped off my gloves and left the room. Nina and Ellie could take care of the after-procedure duties. Storming past everyone, I caught a glimpse of their surprised expressions at my abrupt departure, but I was desperately in need of fresh air to clear my head.

As I headed towards the side exit, I instead found myself walking towards Lawrence’s office. The man had been my father’s business partner and confidant, hell he’s been like a favourite uncle to me! Perhaps he could help me get some perspective, maybe give me some advice on the situation with Ellie - he certainly was no stranger to office dalliances. I was concerned with Pieter’s obvious disapproval of me - I’m sure he had been informed of mine and Ellie’s position. If nothing else, I would have a slug of his five hundred dollar bottle of whiskey I knew he kept in his office.

I tapped on his door and pushed open the handle. Lawrence was just finishing up on a call and gestured for me to take a seat. I nodded and sunk into the leather armchair opposite him, looking around his office as I did so. I preferred to keep my office impersonal but both Lawrence and Nina had their walls covered with celebrity photos.

I ran my hand over my face, feeling the light stubble and sighed deeply as Lawrence finished up on his call.

“I know that look, boy. What the fuck mess have you got yourself into now?”

I laughed at his welcome. “Mess? Why would you say that?” I shook my head, trying to dodge the direct question.

“Don’t look at me that way, Junior. I’ve been around a shit ton longer than you. I’ve been watching you this week, walking around like a big old bear with a sore head. What’s going on?”

As I had hoped, he pushed back his chair and went to his liquor cabinet, pulling out the whiskey and two glasses. He placed them on the table and I watched as he poured the aged liquid into the glasses. Handing me the glass, I took it willingly.

“Thanks, Lawrence. I need this.” I took a big gulp, enjoying the burn as the liquid slipped smoothly down the back of my throat.

“So talk.”

I decided there was no point beating around the bush. “It’s about Ellie, our new intern.”

“Oh for fuck’s sake, Julien! She’s young and fresh - what did you do?!”

I held up my hands in defence. “I haven’t done anything, Lawrence, back the fuck up.”

“Sorry, kid, I just assumed, with your track-record and all….”

He trailed off. Damn, he was right. My reputation preceded me most the time. So, I came clean, explaining how I felt about her, right up until the moment she walked in on Nina and I.

“Shit, my Nina pulled that shit?”

I nodded miserably. “I’m sorry, Lawrence, I know she’s your daughter, but she screwed me over on purpose.”

The older man shook his head and took a long swig of his drink.

“I apologise on her behalf, Julien. She’s a grown woman…I mean, I know you guys had a thing a while back, but I had assumed it was over...”

“It’s not your duty to apologise for her, Lawrence. It is over – was, a long time ago. I have no interest in her.” I spat my words out, the anger in chest building up again.

Lawrence was silent, lost in his own thoughts, before he spoke again.

“And this, Ellie - you care about her?”

I took my time answering, whilst I pondered on his question. Something was happening but I had yet to define what it was. If I considered my personal life, I’ve never been one for thinking things through and to an extent, I’m still not that guy. With women, I’d never be anything other than an animal of instinct, but for whatever reason, this time my instincts were on a slow burn, rather than a hot wave of lust. There’s no question, I knew how to sweep a girl off her feet, make the grand gesture minutes after meeting her, make her head spin whilst I broke through every defence. I knew how to do it all with style and money, how to go in for the kill and ravage her like a whirlwind. But this time it was different. Ellie didn’t respond to my alter ego and something was telling me to take it slow with her, or she’d take flight like a bird of paradise and I’d never get the chance to explore this. Whatever this was.

I stared into my near-empty glass.

“I do care about her, yes.”

“Hmmmm…certainly seems that way. Why are you drawn to her?”

I laughed out loud, feeling like a patient discussing his feelings with his shrink.

“I don’t know, Lawrence.” I shrug my shoulders. “I’m not sure what it is that has drawn me to her so relentlessly.”

“Well, she’s certainly easy on the eye!”

I smiled. “Yeah, no doubts there.” It was easy a few weeks ago, when all I could think about was possessing her round ass, the way her tits bounced and moved, somehow even making the nursing scrubs look sexy. How her soft lips tasted, the way her body melted into mine before she pushed me off. I felt it and I knew she felt the connection too. I still thought about those things - how could I forget? But it was different now.

“It’s not just that, though. She’s an amazing nurse, Lawrence - the best intern I’ve seen in a long time. She’s very bright too - I’m a little surprised she didn’t go to med school, she certainly would make a great doctor too.”

“What’s her background?”

“I’m not too sure, honestly. I understand from Penny that her mother passed away from cancer when she was in her teens - seems to have spurred her decision to go into nursing. I believe her father is back home in London.”

“Poor kid, too bad about her mother.”

Glancing at the photo of Lawrence’s late wife, who he had lost a few years ago, I knew he still missed her terribly.

“So what are you going to do, Julien?”

He looked at me directly as he asked the question.

“I’m not sure. I was kind of hoping that you could give me some advice.”

“You need to talk to her, son. If you feel this strongly, you need to rectify what she thought she saw between you and Nina.”

He seemed slightly disgusted as he mentioned Nina’s name and I almost felt guilty for turning her father on her. Nina was no saint, but then again, with my record, neither was I. Still, I couldn’t forgive her for what she did on purpose. Right now, she seemed totally preoccupied with Pieter, pleased with the conflict she had created for me. She had to be stopped.

“I’ve tried to talk with Ellie, Lawrence. All week, but she just doesn’t want to know. She said we’d talk outside work, but with her shifts and my schedule, we haven’t had a chance.”

“So try this weekend. Even if it means showing up at her place.”

I finished my drink. I concurred with his plan. I wasn’t ready to give up on us yet, to explore what we were starting.

“That’s a good plan, thanks. But onto other matter - Pieter. How do I handle him?”

Lawrence looked up, a hint of confusion in his face.

“Why, what do you mean? What’s happened with Pieter?”

“I think he thinks the devil of me right now. It’s been a tough week and I’m pretty sure he disapproves of office romances. In fact, I know he’s aware of the, uh, Ellie situation.” I sighed, replacing my empty glass on his desk. “Fucking great week to take on a new partner!”

“Ah, I see.” He glanced at his watch. “I’m pretty sure he is in his office now. Why don’t we head over and try to clear the air?”

“You think that would be a good idea?”

“Yeah, I do. I don’t want any tension here between us. You’re both incredible doctors and I trust you will both extend each other professional courtesy. If things are going to happen between you and Ellie, then it’s best we get it out in the open, no point sneaking around. We’ll figure it out between us. I trust you both.”

“Okay, let’s do this.” I pushed back my chair. “Oh, and Lawrence?”

He stopped as he reached his door and turned back around. “Yes?”

“Thank you. For listening to me. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a chance to do this.”

“Julien, I’ve told you time and time again. My door is always open to you. You’re like the son I never had. Plus I made a promise to your old man to always look out for you, so you’re kind of stuck with me too.” He winked and smiled kindly at me.

I nodded and stood up. “I appreciate that.”

We walked the short distance to Pieter’s office as I contemplated what I was going to say to him, steeling myself for a bit of abasement and a lot of manly discussion. Having gotten off on the wrong foot, it was important to me to re-establish my professionalism with my partner. I didn’t want to cause any concern or worry for Lawrence.

We were almost at his office but stopped short when his door flew open and a furious looking Pieter stood there with his arms crossed.

“Get out, Nina! Such inappropriate advances are certainly not welcome.” His words were cold and exact.

The next moment, an angry looking Nina stepped out, not noticing either of us standing there watching the scene play out in front of us. She walked right up to his face, pointing at his chest.

“You’ll regret this! Just you wait!”

Lawrence’s face twisted in anger as he quickly stormed the short distance to Pieter and Nina.

“What the hell is going on here?!”

Nina spun around, quickly stepping back from Pieter. Her face immediately coloured, thankfully having the decency to look embarrassed in front of her father.

“Uh, daddy.” She was speechless as she looked around, trying to grapple for an explanation.

“Pieter, please, can we step in your office?” I took the lead, not wanting to cause a scene out in the hall.

“Fine.” His face was stony as we all traipsed into his room, shutting the door behind us.

“I asked once. What the hell is going on here?”

“Lawrence, I’m afraid your daughter tried to pull some moves on me. I explained that her advances weren’t welcome but she can’t seem to take no for an answer!”

“Is this true, Nina?” Lawrence didn’t fail to hide the disappointment on his face.

“Daddy, I think he’s got it wrong. I mean, please, I’ve seen the way he looks at me!” She gestured at Pieter with her hands, her expression full of venom.

“How I look at you? Nina, I can assure you that I look at you the same way I do my other colleagues.”

The room was silent, thick with tension. Seriously, she was a piece of work.

“That’s it, Nina. I have heard enough today. You’re fired.”

Both Pieter and I snapped our head up to Lawrence, in shock. He was firing her? His own daughter?

Tears immediately sprang to her eyes and I had to look away.

“Daddy, please, no, you can’t do this.”

“I can and I will, Nina. This is a business and if you won’t treat it like one, you won’t be required to!” His voice was harsh as he directed his wrath towards his daughter.

“I can’t believe you’re doing this, daddy. For them!” With tears streaming down her face, she pushed past me and ran out of the office.

We waited in silence for a few minutes, listening to her footsteps disappearing down the hall.

I spoke first.

“Lawrence, are you sure you want to do this?”

He looked at both of us, a look of sadness upon his features.

“She’s been screwing up quite a bit, lately. I won’t have our reputation tarnished because my daughter can’t keep her legs closed. I admit, my actions are somewhat abrupt, but it would have happened sooner or later.”

I nodded soberly, looking at Pieter for his reaction. He looked over at Lawrence with surprise.

“I appreciate the support, Lawrence. I’m sorry it’s turned out this way.”

Lawrence moved across to the small conference table in Pieter’s office, signalling the conversation to be closed. We followed him and took our places at the table.

“So, I think we need to clear some air between the two of you. Seems like you may have got off to a bad start.”

I looked at Pieter. “Pieter, I apologise for my short temper this week - this is not my usual style.”

“I appreciate your honesty, Julien. Is there anything I should know about?”

“Well,” I looked at Lawrence who gave me a slight nod to continue. “I’ve been dealing with some personal shit.”

“Ellie?”

The man certainly was clued up. I smiled.

“Yes, it concerns Ellie. Things were great last week until Friday, when, er, Nina, pulled a stunt similar to what she did right now.”

Pieter raised his eyebrow. “Really, please go on?”

I explained about my feelings towards Ellie, how our relationship had developed over the past couple of months.

I ran my hands through my hair roughly. “The thing is, Pieter, this is new to me too. Fuck, I can’t remember the last time I even had a proper relationship.” I smirked, shaking my head at how ridiculous it made me sound, when the fact was that anyone could pick up a gossip magazine and see my face splattered across it with the various different women I’d dated over the months. Except for the past two months. Hell, it was like I had taken a fucking vow of celibacy.

“Sounds like you genuinely care for her.”

“I do, Pieter. I certainly want to see if this can go somewhere but it’s pretty screwed up at the moment.”

“Maybe she just needs a little space, Julien. I’ve seen her at work, she certainly takes pride in what she does. She’s a very talented and dedicated nurse, there’s no question in that. I wish you both well and I hope you will be able to talk this Nina problem over.”

I was grateful for his support, suddenly feeling a little lighter than before. “Thank you for your support, Pieter. I assure you, from now on, I will leave my personal life at the door. I will figure things out with Ellie outside work.”

We spoke for a few more minutes and I was pleased that the tension was resolved between us, now that all my cards were on the table.

All I had to do now was hope that I could persuade Ellie to give me another chance.

Wow. I made my way home after work on Friday night, still reeling from the shock of Nina’s dismissal. The nurses were buzzing with talk all morning, until we were called into a brief meeting with Lawrence.

Shuffling into the conference room, we looked around at each other nervously, bracing ourselves in case one of us was next on the firing list.

Lawrence was standing at the head of the table, waiting for the last nurse who stepped into the room, shutting the door behind her.

“Thank you all for attending this briefing. I assume you are all aware of Nina’s departure yesterday evening.” He paused and I watched as his expression became slightly pained. He cleared his throat.

“As you can imagined, this is difficult for me. Unfortunately, it has come to my attention that on several occasions, Nina has not acted professionally internally. With our clinic and doctors in high demand, I cannot afford to risk our reputation. This is all I will say on the matter for now, but needless to say, her replacement will be announced soon. Please refrain from answering any press enquiries, just in case they already have wind of this. Our PR team will be handling it. I wish you all a good day, please feel free to return to your patients.” He nodded his head, signalling the end of the meeting. “Penny, would you mind staying behind for a moment, please?”

He busied himself with some paperwork as we all filed out of the room, stunned at his official and truthful statement. Penny flashed me a look of concern and I gave her a reassuring smile - she was the best nurse here so I couldn’t imagine there being any problems for her.

I found out later that she was asked to be the interim Head Nurse until a suitable replacement was found – I was thrilled for her.

As I got off the bus and walked the short distance home, I thought about my plans for the weekend. Penny had invited me to her house for dinner on Saturday night and I was looking forward to spending time with her family. Her two boys, aged four and six, were adorable and her husband always made me feel welcome.

Later that evening as I ate a light supper, I thought about Julien. Once again. I hadn’t seen him as he was in theatre all day and I wondered what he thought of Nina’s departure. If it was true what Lawrence said about Nina’s unprofessional behaviour, then perhaps Julien was telling the truth after all. I pondered the situation as I sat on my sofa with my glass of wine. Having done my best to avoid him all week, I could see yesterday that it was clearly affecting him. I needed to speak with him, to clear the air, we couldn’t have a professional relationship like this - he was right. I sighed. I’d call him tomorrow. Nina was now out of the way.

I stretched and decided to take a hot shower to relax my aching muscles - maybe afterwards, I’d put on a movie. Smiling at my plan, I quickly stripped off and was just about to walk into the bathroom when I heard the buzzer to my apartment. Not expecting anyone, puzzled, I quickly slipped on my satin black robe and padded to the door, looking out of the spyhole. I gasped. Julien was standing there. He looked incredible in his business suit - his light blue shirt set off his eyes, which were now piercing back at me. I felt myself blush hard and my heart rate involuntarily picked up. I couldn’t pretend to not be here - he would have heard my music playing. So I took a deep breath and pulled open the door.

His eyes were immediately drawn to my robe as he lazily raked his eyes over my body. I felt the heat spread all over my body as I self-consciously crossed my arms.

“Julien, what are you doing here?”

I hadn’t noticed, but one of his arms was behind his back. With a flourish, he produced a huge bouquet of white roses.

Not just any roses. I had never seen such large, beautiful and exquisite white roses like these. I quickly closed my mouth as I smiled, accepting the bouquet.

“For you, Ellie. It’s been a tough week.” His grin was infectious. I couldn’t help but return it. Something about him just kept drawing me in. It was useless trying to deny the connection we had.

“Yes, it has. Thank you, these are beautiful.” We stood there awkwardly for a moment. “Would you like to come in?”

“I’m actually on my way out - a friend’s birthday. I know things haven’t been great with us this week, Ellie, but I wonder if I may take the liberty of asking whether you’d reconsider having dinner with me, again?”

I bit my lip, unsure of what to say, looking at down at my roses.

“Ellie, I swear to you. Nina pulled a stunt on me last week - I was just as shocked as you were.” He must have noted my expression and quickly corrected himself. “Or maybe, not as shocked.” He cleared his throat. “Let’s just say that I wasn’t the only object of her affection this past week.”

I raised an eyebrow, sure there was more to it but also not in the mood to discuss Nina any further.

“Just one dinner, Ellie?”

Oh God, he was proving irresistible. A nagging thought flashed into my mind. What about Pieter? What would he think of me - of us? Since we were talking, I decided to be open.

“Um, Julien, I’m slightly worried about Pieter.”

“Don’t be, it’s been taken care of.” I looked at his face, which detected no hint of sarcasm.

“Taken care of?”

“Yes, Pieter and I had a talk - he’s fine about us dating, excuse me, I mean having dinner as long as it’s kept outside work.”

Did he just say dating? Was he expecting more? A small part of me was thrilled that he was hoping for that...I made up my mind to give him another chance.

“Well…okay, then. One dinner date, Julien.”

His face visibly relaxed. “Perfect. How about tomorrow night?”

“Tomorrow? Actually, I have plans to visit with Penny and her family.”

He suddenly looked sheepish.

“What? Why are you looking like that?”

“I spoke with Penny earlier and she has given her blessings to excuse you from the family meal. So if you don’t mind, I’d like the pleasure of your company instead.”

I shook my head, slightly exasperated. This man seemed to have everyone wrapped around his fingers!

“Well, since you have cleared my plans, seems I’m free!”

He stepped closer and I sucked in my breath.

“Looking forward to it, Ellie.” He ran his knuckles down my cheek and I stilled at his touch, which seemed to send all kinds of tremors shooting through my body. I thought he was going to kiss me and licked my lips in anticipation but instead he slowly stepped back. Leaving me wanting.

“I’ll pick you up at seven tomorrow evening.”

I slowly exhaled and nodded. “See you tomorrow, Julien.”

He turned to go back down the stairs.

“Oh and Ellie?”

“Yes?”

“You may want to put some clothes on. You look like you’re cold.” He winked at me as he walked out of sight.

I cursed as I looked down at my chest, which I could no longer conceal due to holding the beautiful flowers. My body and satin robe had betrayed me. No wonder he thought I was cold - my hardened nipples were straining through my gown.

Except I wasn’t cold at all. I was all kinds of hot, craving his touch, no matter if my head told me otherwise.

Shit, I was in trouble.

I took my time getting ready the following evening. It was nice this time to be able to be in my own surroundings as opposed to the last time when I got dressed up at work. I selected a red dress I had recently bought when I went shopping with Penny for the first time a month ago. I had insisted I wouldn’t have anywhere to wear it but she had begged me to try it on at least. In the end I had relented. The bandage style was a little to risqué for my normal taste but I felt incredibly sexy in it. It accentuated my hourglass figure and with a pair of black strappy heels the sales assistant had suggested I try, I felt like a celebrity!

Now as I stood in front of the mirror, giving myself one final look, I was thrilled Penny had convinced me to buy the outfit. It was also nice to wear my long hair down as most of the time it was pulled back for work and although I couldn’t replicate my make-up as expertly as Kimberly did the last time, I think I did a pretty good job.

At exactly seven o’clock, my apartment buzzed and the butterflies immediately took flight in my stomach.

I grabbed my wrap and walked to the door, this time not bothering to check the spyhole.

Julien stood there, smiling, looking as handsome as the devil himself. Dressed in a black shirt and faded jeans, he looked the perfect candidate for someone stepping off the pages of the catwalk. I felt the heat travel all over my body as his gaze drank in my appearance.

“Ellie, wow, you look beautiful.”

I smiled shyly. “Hi, Julien. Thank you…you don’t scrub up too badly yourself!” I realised the pun and we both laughed with helped to break the ice.

“Come on. I have a surprise for you.”

We walked down onto the street and I immediately spotted his silver Porsche. With his hand on my back, he led me to the car and held open the door.

“Thank you. What a gentleman you are!” I teased as I entered the car.

“Only for a very special lady.” He winked and ran round to the driver side. I adjusted myself in the bucket seat and strapped myself in while he got the engine started.

“So, where are we going? Can I have a clue?”

He looked at me, and with a smile, shook his head.

“Not far from here. I hope you’ll like it.”

I nodded, realising that I wouldn’t be able to get anything out of him so decided to play along.

The drive wasn’t long as he promised and before I knew it, we pulled up to a restaurant that I immediately recognised. It was one of the places I really wanted to experience.

“Oh my god, Julien!! Spago - wow, I’ve only ever read about this place!” I bit my lip, embarrassed at my obvious excitement.

“I overheard you and Penny talking about it a while back. You said it was on your list of places to visit. Come on, let’s go.”

I was touched. He stepped out of the car and threw his keys to the valet driver, who had immediately appeared. Coming around to my side, he held open the door and offered me his hand as I stepped out of the car.

Walking into the restaurant, I felt slightly intimidated to be seen on his arm. However, as soon as we were shown to our table, which was very private and surrounded with plants, I felt myself relaxing. The restaurant had a wonderful ambiance and looking around, I couldn’t help but think of Kate and my father back home. Suddenly, home felt like a million miles away.

Dinner was a wonderful affair. Julien and I conversed easily and with the scrumptious food and accompanying wine, I felt myself incredibly enjoying his company.

“So, tell me something about yourself that I can’t read on line.” I smiled at him across the table, the wine loosening up my tongue.

His expression changed and took on a faraway look.

“Well…let’s see. How about that I lost my mom too? Expect it was not to a dreadful disease like cancer.” He paused and I waited, not wanting to break the moment. “My asshole of a father had one too many affairs…she got weaker and weaker. Her health deteriorated, following severe depression. One day, I guess she had enough. Found another clue to suggest another affair. She overdosed herself. My biggest regret was that I never confronted my father about his indiscretions – I turned a blind eye, but a part of me knew what was going on. I was too busy fucking partying to see her pain.”

He picked up his glass to take a sip and I noticed his hand slightly shaking. My heart went out to him and impulsively I reached across the table to squeeze his hand. He shot me a grateful smile.

“I’m so sorry, Julien.”

“It’s okay, Ellie…anyway…you won’t find that truth about our family online.”

I nodded, once again touched that he would share something so personal with me.

Just then a couple stopped by to say hello to him, and thankfully his good mood immediately returned again. He made sure to introduce me, looking after me the entire evening, the perfect gentleman.

As we made our way back home a few hours later, I felt slightly tipsy and leaned back against the seat.

“Julien, I had a wonderful evening. Thank you again.” I closed my eyes, smiling. “Can you open my window, please? I just want to feel the night air blowing through my hair.” I gave him a lazy smile.

“Sure, princess.” His smile was warm and sexy, sending a course of desire through me with his term of endearment. As the rush of air flowed through the car, I laughed out loud, loving the sensation of feeling free and young.

Within no time, we had arrived back at my apartment. I knew for sure that I didn’t want our night to end and gathered my hair over my shoulder as I faced him, suddenly feeling shy.

“Would you like to come in for a bit?”

“Are you sure, Ellie?”

I bit my lip, heat flooding through my body. “I’m sure.”

We exited his car and made our way up to my flat, the tension between us palpable.

As soon as I opened my door, he pulled me to him, and my body pressed up against his as he kissed me hard and deep, a growl coming from somewhere at the back of his throat. I clung onto him, my nails digging into his shoulders as I tried to keep up, needing him, desperate for his touch. His hands stayed put even though I desired his touch everywhere - my aching breasts, the throbbing between my legs. Goose bumps prickled up and down my arms as his tongue continued to explore my mouth with surety and easy possession. I let loose a small whimper and his arm around my waist tightened when he heard it, responding immediately, almost instinctively.

I had never, ever been kissed like this before. Our heads moved together for long minutes and I felt like I hadn’t breathed in a lifetime.

Everything was spinning around me, and when he ran his hand slowly up my side, and lightly brushed my nipple, I thought I was spinning too, delirious with want.

When he finally ended the kiss, he pulled away so slowly, leaving me panting and missing his lips already. It was then I could see that he was equally affected - his breath was coming just as fast and his eyes had darkened considerably, drunk with desire.

“Julien…” I spoke his name, breathless, ready to peel off my dress and throw caution to the wind. I had never felt so attracted to anyone in my life.

He was still holding me, leaning against my forehead, when we heard the distinct sound of his pager. Cursing, he pulled away, apologising.

I took a moment to catch my breath as he walked into the front room, turning on another lamp to read the message. I watched his face change and grow tense as he pulled out his phone, quickly punching in a number. Deciding to give him some privacy, I walked into the bathroom, needing to splash some cold water on my flushed face. I could hear his muffled voice through the door so after a couple of minutes I walked back out, curiosity getting the better of me. I caught the tail end of the conversation. His voice was cold and laced with steel, causing me to halt in my tracks.

“What the fuck you saying? I’m being sued for malpractice?!

Head deep in paperwork, I glanced up, hearing the distinct sound of a pair of heels clicking on the tiled floors - a rare noise in the clinic, amongst the nurses. An older glamorous lady, dressed impeccably from head to toe, was confidently striding towards my desk. I looked into her brown eyes, slightly confused at her obvious scrutiny, assessing me from afar. Placing my pen down, I looked at her, quizzically.

“May I help you?”

Instead of responding, she merely breezed past me, heading in the direction of Julien’s office. I quickly stood up past her fast retreating back.

Excuse me, please! May I help you?”

She stopped abruptly and turned around to face me with a cool expression.

“You must be the new one.” Raising a perfectly shaped eyebrow, she stepped closer. “Suzanne Corrigan - Julien’s attorney.” She smirked. “Amongst other things…shall we say…” Her voice trailed off, clearly implying a relationship. I slowly sat down; feeling like the wind had been knocked out of my sails.

My heart began to pound at the revelation and I took a deep breath, forcing out a professional smile, feigning indifference at her targeted words.

“Sure. He’s in his office.” She nodded curtly and turned to walk away. “He’s going to be okay, isn’t he?!” I bit my lip, unable to hide my anxiety. She paused, as if taking a moment to decide whether or not I was worthy of an answer. I guess I passed her test, for a moment later, she faced me once again.

“Let me enlighten you. Eleanor, isn’t it?”

I simply nodded, not bothering to correct her with my shortened version.

“Well, Eleanor. How shall I put this? Addison, who is one of Julien’s special clients, is suing for malpractice.” She paused for effect whilst I let her words sink in. “I’m here to handle it. Like I always do. Now if you don’t mind…”

“Sure, please, carry on.”

I sank into my chair. The meaning behind her words was obvious. I took a few steadying breaths, determined not to crack under the new information. I looked at the ceiling, ignoring the glare of the spot lights which were all but blinding me. How many more? How many more of Julien’s conquests would constantly be thrown into my face? How would I deal with this? I couldn’t break down crying, I wouldn’t. I knew what I was getting myself into when I accepted his date proposal - God, I nearly slept with him on Saturday night, before he had to rush off after receiving the devastating news. Placing my feelings aside, I couldn’t begin to imagine what he must be going through. Hopefully I’d get to speak to him after my shift. Also, if we were going to date, then I’d really like to get things out in the open. That was the only way it was going to work - I had to trust him.

My day seemed to drag. News of Julien’s malpractice suit was whispered in hushed tones amongst the nurses, but I didn’t partake in any of the gossip. Later that afternoon, I found Penny finishing her break in the kitchen when I popped in to grab a quick coffee. I didn’t plan on taking my full break - my mind was too preoccupied with Julien and I found it was better to be kept busy with my patient files. It was so nice to see Penny’s friendly face.

“Hey Pen, how’s it going?” I walked over to the coffee machine, selecting my usual latte. I would have preferred a good cup of Twinings English Breakfast tea but hey, when in Rome and all that.

She stood up and came towards me, a concerned look on her face.

“I’m good, Ellie. How are you? Any more news since we spoke yesterday?”

I had called Penny yesterday, with Julien’s permission, to give her the heads up on the news. I was confident that he or Lawrence would be briefing the staff soon on the clinic’s stance, once he had ironed out the details with Suzanne.

“No, nothing, Pen. He’s been holed up with Suzanne all day.”

I must have unconsciously grimaced at her name, which caused Penny to raise an eyebrow. I sighed, looking into my cup.

“I take it they have history?”

When Penny didn’t immediately respond, I looked up to see her reaction. She shrugged her shoulders.

“I’m not entirely sure, hon. But…I guess, I mean, I’ve seen her around here before, looking pretty self-assured and possessive around him. I think it would seem that way…that they were familiar with each other.”

I nodded. Penny had confirmed my suspicions. “Great. Now I’ve a freaking Mrs Robinson to deal with!”

Penny smiled. She came closer and gathered me into her arms, giving me the comfort I so needed.

“I know it’s going to be hard, Ellie, having to deal with all his exes. But you’re going to have to put on your big pants and toughen up, girlie.” She pulled away, looking into my eyes and breaking out into a grin. “You’ve hooked up with a man-whore, but a gorgeous one at that! And if I was single…well, let’s just say that I’d be trying to tap that ass too!” We burst out laughing, which eased the tension in my chest.

“Yes, thanks, Penny. I definitely know how to pick them!”

“In all seriousness hon, just talk to him. Figure out how you guys can go forward, if that’s what you want.”

I nodded. “I will.”

“Okay, gotta get back, my break’s over. Come find me later, before you head home?”

“Sure. Thanks, Penny.”

“Anytime, honey.”

Finally my shift came to an end and having not seen Julien all day, I wanted to stop by his office to check on him. I was worried and anxious for him. He was such a wonderful and talented doctor - I couldn’t believe why anyone would want to sue him for malpractice. Let alone one of his exes.

I made a quick stop in the bathroom to splash some water on my face and glanced at my reflection. My cheeks were flushed and my eyes were clear and bright. Outwardly, I looked respectable, but inside, I felt a bundle of nerves at the thought of seeing them together – at least, I presumed Suzanne was still there. Smoothing out my hair, I stepped out the bathroom and made my way down the hall.

His office was closed and I stilled outside, straining to hear for voices from within. The sounds were muffled, so I knocked lightly, waiting for a response.

“Come in.” His deep voice sent shivers down my spine. A quick flash of images ran through my mind of our heated embrace on Saturday night. I felt my face flush and lightly pushed open the door.

Suzanne had her chair very right next to Julien and I immediately felt a stab of jealousy seeing them so close together. Julien looked up from the paperwork he was focussing on and I couldn’t help but notice that his face seemed to slightly light up. Take that Mrs Robinson!

Hi, sorry to interrupt. I was just heading home and I thought I’d stop and say goodnight. But I can see you’re still busy, so…” I trailed off as I backed out of his office.

“No, wait!” I stopped short and looked at Julien and Suzanne. She shot me a dirty look, obviously displeased at my presence. “Suzanne, I think we’ve covered enough for today. Let’s resume tomorrow.” I watched as he gathered the papers together on his desk.

“If you really think that’s prudent, Juju? I was hoping to get through some more files tonight.”

Juju? What the hell? I felt slightly nauseated as she looked at me, a challenge in her eye, assessing me for any reaction. I held a blank expression.

“Suzanne, I’m wiped out. That will be all for today.” His voice was tight as he glared at her.

“Fine.” She pulled a few folders into her bag and then stood, making a show of stretching in Julien’s direction, pushing out her chest. “I am rather tired. It’s been a productive day.” She rolled her neck and then stepped away from his desk. “See you first thing tomorrow.”

I stepped to the side as she walked past me, flashing me a quick look of annoyance. Smiling widely, I raised my hand, giving her a small wave. “Good to meet you, Suzanne. See you tomorrow.”

“Goodnight, Eleanor.”

I watched her footsteps retreat down the hall, pleased at her departure. She may be Julien’s lawyer, but I didn’t like her one bit.

“Come here, Ellie.”

I shut the door and suddenly feeling shy, I slowly walked over, tucking a loose stand of hair behind my ear.

“Tough day?”

“Yeah, something like that. But much better now.” He sat back in his chair, smiling lazily at me. I felt my cheeks stain with heat under his intense gaze as I took a seat opposite him.

“So, you want to talk about it?”

He ran his hand over his face. “I’m not actually allowed to say much -”

“I’m sorry, I don’t mean to pry.”

“No, no. Not like that. I’m just legally bound to only speak with my attorney about the case since it’s sensitive. How about we talk about other things?”

He smiled and I felt my heart flutter.

“Sure, what do you want to talk about, Dr Berthou?” I couldn’t help but flirt with the sexiest man I had ever seen, sitting opposite me, taking an interest in my day.

“Well, Miss Hartley, how about you? Have you had a good day?”

I frowned slightly. “Yes, but I’ve been really worried about you.”

“You have? You’re worried about me?” He seemed genuinely surprised.

“Of course I am…although it seems like you’re in good hands…with Suzanne. I mean Ms Corrigan.” I bit my lip, hoping that he didn’t detect the note of sarcasm. I wanted so desperately to ask about them - if they had been together, and if so, for how long, but I couldn’t coherently form the sentences without sounding jealous. And that’s when it hit me. Sitting opposite this gorgeous man, I was faced with the reality that he had been with dozens of women in his colourful personal life - the rich, beautiful, experienced, talented and God knows what else. And here I was, just Ellie Hartley. Feeling insecure and jealous, I was a nobody from London. I felt the sting of tears at the back of my eyes and quickly looked away, rapidly blinking. The last thing I wanted to do was to cry in front of him, for goodness sake!

“Ellie, are you okay?”

Shit, he noticed.

“Sorry…I’m fine.” I decided to just come clean. It was too much effort to try and become someone I’m not. “I guess I’m just feeling slightly overwhelmed…with us. The situation.”

Julien immediately stood up and came around his desk to me. Pulling Suzanne’s vacant chair close, he sat next to me, reaching for my hand.

“Ellie, I’m not going to deny. I’ve had a past. I’m sorry you have to deal with everything at once.”

I nodded, appreciating his honesty. “And, Suzanne? Have you…” I trailed off, not wanting to ask the obvious question.

“Yes, we’ve been together. In the past, over a decade ago - when I was a lot younger and…needing guidance.”

I wasn’t sure what he meant by that but could only allude to what he was suggesting. I blew out a breath. “And, Addison? Suzanne mentioned you were together?”

He frowned. “Yes, we were, but several years ago. I’m really not sure why she is seeking me out now, especially given her history of no-commenting on whether she’s had work done.” He shook his head. “I’ve no idea why she’s doing this.”

I was silent for a moment before I spoke.

“Thank you for telling me, Julien…I like this trust thing we have going.” I looked at him from under my lashes, smiling and hoping to clear some of the tension between us. All I really wanted right now was to be wrapped up in his arms, to feel his lips against mine, kissing me like he did on Saturday night. I didn’t want to think about his exes anymore. For now, he was mine.

“Have dinner with me on Thursday, just the two of us?” His voice was soft and seductive.

“I’d love to.” My voice was breathy and uneven.

“After dinner, I’m taking you back to my place.” He closed the gap between us and placed a light kiss on my lips. I closed my eyes, as my heart fluttered wildly, ready for more but he pulled away, a smirk on his lips.

“You’re so very tempting, Ellie.” He pecked me on the lips a couple more times, teasing me and refusing to deepen the kiss. “Thursday night, baby.”

Julien

Suzanne and I had been holed up in the conference room for the past few days, trying to analyse the language of the suit and working on our best defence. I was still reeling from the shock of having Addison come back into my life like this and furthermore, insulting me with a malpractice suit. It just didn’t make sense, but right now, my only concern was to get this either thrown out of court, or if we got to the bottom of this, then settled outside, as fast as possible. It was already impacting my schedule and I was irritable and annoyed with the hassle. I didn’t need this shit.

I got out of my seat, needing to stretch my legs and peered out of the small glass window on the door. Bad idea. Pieter was walking down the hall, deep in conversation with Ellie and I watched the interaction between them. He must have said something funny, because I saw her beautiful face break out into a grin as she laughed lightly. Clenching my fists I exhaled loudly and forced myself to look away. For the past couple of days, I noticed they had been working together closely. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have cared but it bothered the shit out of me seeing her with him. Perhaps I was over-reacting but I was overcome with possession for her - she would be mine in every way.

“Juju, is everything okay?” Suzanne looked at me, her eyes drifting down to my clenched fists.

“For fuck’s sake, Suzanne! I’ve told you - don’t fucking call me Juju. It’s Julien, okay?” I spun around and the spat out the words at her, annoyed that she clearly thought she still had some power over me. I was a young boy, in my early twenties when she seduced me and introduced me to her dominant BDSM lifestyle. Eager to learn, I was her fucking lap dog for two years before I came to my senses. Somehow, with her connections to my father as the family lawyer, we managed to maintain a professional relationship - at least I did.

“I can see that young nurse has got you all wound up.” She stood slowly and walked over to me, stopping too close for comfort. Trailing her hands over my chest, she leant in to whisper.

“I’ve got just what you need, Juju. I know how to calm you down…and then take you so high, your head will spin.” She continued to run her hands over my chest and I squeezed my eyes shut, memories flashing of our time together. “You’re so much more of a man now…I may even trust you to dominate me. I’m sure I’ve taught you very well.”

I gathered myself and roughly pulled her hands off me. Her eyes widened in shock.

“It’s over, Suzanne. It has been for a long time. I’m not interested in you that way. If you can’t respect that, I’m afraid I’m going to have to find another lawyer to represent me.”

Quickly recovering from her shock, she curled her lips into a smile, narrowing her eyes.

“Oh darling, don’t you see? Eleanor’s just at the age you were when we met! Perhaps you’re just missing the good old days we shared together?”

I recoiled back. “Good old days? You mean the part where you treated me like a fucking piece of meat, where you didn’t give a damn about what I wanted?”

“No, Juju, you’re wrong. I taught you everything you know.” She turned away and walked back to the table. “You’re the man you are - you have the sexual preferences you do - because of me. I made you what you are.”

I blinked rapidly, trying to gain focus on the shit she was throwing at me.

“No, Suzanne. You’re wrong. What I have with Ellie - it’s nothing like what we had together. You know why? I respect the hell out of that girl.” I drew a deep breath, my final words hitting her with the impact I had hoped for. She flinched but didn’t comment so I took my place back at the table and picked up the stack of papers that I was examining earlier. Thankfully, the remainder of my afternoon, although strained, went past without any further mention of our past.

Later, as I sat in my office, winding down for the day, I took some time to reflect on Suzanne’s words from earlier. The woman was clearly disillusioned when it came to matters between us. I was surprised that she pulled a move on me - I thought our past was just that – I couldn’t fathom that perhaps she still harboured feelings towards me. Control. That’s all she ever sought and back then, I was merely her puppet, in awe of her sexual prowess. Still, I had to admit that some part of me at that time in my life actually enjoyed the domination. My life was fucking crazy, moving from party to studies to fucking random girls. Suzanne established discipline in my life, gave me a break from making decisions in my world - all I had to do was submit. Nonetheless, that was a long time ago and I was over ten years older from the young man she met back then - I could no longer be dominated by anyone. I was fully in control now.

I felt myself harden at the thought of doing some of the things I had planned with Ellie, but I promised myself to take it slow with her. Still, the time would come when I would own her body and then her mind and soul. Ellie Hartley would be mine in every way. I shifted in my seat, thinking about where I’d take her for dinner tomorrow night. None of the usual places I tended to dine felt right- I didn’t want to share her with anyone else for the night. Decision made, I fired off a quick text:

Dinner at my house tomorrow evening. My driver will collect you at 7.30pm…I’m looking forward to dessert already. J

The following evening, the doorbell went off at exactly eight o’clock. I walked through the long hallway and down the winding staircase of my house - or some would term - mansion. Grabbing my tablet, I put on a little music in the den, something slow but edgy - none of that sensual shit. I liked a little rough in my music.

Pulling open my double doors, I saw her standing there, looking beautiful and radiant in a simple black dress, with an open smile and a faint of pink on her cheeks. The slight breeze lifted up her long dark hair, carrying with it, the scent of her perfume, light and feminine, like a drug, which already had me horny.

“Hi, Julien. Your house looks amazing.”

I realised I was still standing there like a dick, gawking at her and I quickly moved out of the way to let her in.

“Welcome, Ellie. Please come in.”

She smiled again and I forced myself to gain control and step back. Slow, slow, slow. My mantra repeated over and over.

“You look beautiful, Ellie.”

“Oh…” she replied. “Thanks…it’s not…new!” She laughed lightly, looking adorable as I saw the blush deepen on her cheeks. I quickly realised she was nervous.

“Come on, I hope you’re hungry?” I led the way and she followed me outside, which was lit up with candles, glowing in the approaching dusk, and where our table was set for dinner. The music was still playing through the speakers and I watched her face as she took in the scene.

“Julien, wow this is amazing.” She walked over to the railing, holding on and peered over the edge. “My God, this view is beautiful. I feel like we’re on top of the world!”

I went and stood beside her, seeing the view from her eyes, something that I took for granted. The lights of LA seemed to extend away, down the hills and into the horizon. It was indeed beautiful, but unmatched to her beauty.

“Wine?” I handed her a glass and she took it gratefully, taking a large gulp.

“Thank you. I need this!” She laughed again, tucking a few stands of hair behind her ears.

“Don’t be nervous, Ellie.” I pulled her into my arms, unable to resist touching her for a moment longer. She felt warm and soft and I wanted nothing more than to bury myself within her.

“It’s just dinner okay? We don’t have to do anything else.”

My dick would surely object to that but right now, all that mattered was making my girl feel comfortable. Wait? What the fuck? My girl? What was I, back in high school?

She nodded and looked out into the view, onto the lights below us and then to her left. “Is that an infinity pool over there?”

I peck her lightly on her lips and immediately felt her respond to me. This was going to be tough.

“Yes it is. We can try it out later if you like…and I’ll give you a tour as well after dinner.”

I took her hand and led her to the table. The candles cast a soft romantic glow.

“Wow, so do you cook as well?” I could tell she was teasing me and I laughed, enjoying how easily we fell into each other’s company.

“I do have a few specialities. How do you like your tortilla chips? Personally, I prefer mine with salsa and a side of beer. Or, how about cereal? Any kind of cereal you could desire – just say the word. But my best has to be pizza - I can open the hell out of a pizza box.”

“Well in that case, I’m sure you’re fine…but if you ever want someone to maybe show you around that amazing kitchen we passed, I’d be happy to help out!” I watched as she bit her lip, frowning slightly, perhaps annoyed with herself for presuming to visit again.

“You know what? I think I would like you to show me a few new things.”, I was incredibly drawn to her and I took my time eye-fucking her slowly so she knew the meaning behind my words. I watched her mouth hang slightly open as she gasped at my words, which did nothing but turn me on further. I could think of a few places where I’d like those plush lips of hers. I decided to change the subject before it got too heated. “Are you hungry?”

She cleared her throat. “Yes, please. I’m looking forward to this - the smell wafting from the kitchen smells delicious.”

“Good, I hope so. I hope you like French food?” I raised an eyebrow enquiringly, a slight smirk playing on my lips, knowing full well, she mentioned that it was her favourite type of cuisine. I watched as her face beamed with excitement.

“Oh my goodness, Julien. You remembered!”

I gave a little nod to the French chef I’d hired for the evening, hovering in the background, awaiting my signal. He gave a slight nod and immediately retreated to the kitchen to bring us our appetisers. Returning a few moments later, he placed the two plates on our table.

“Mr Berthou, Miss Hartley. Allow me to tell you ze menu.” I watched Ellie as she smiled at him, awaiting his explanation of the culinary delights he had in store for us.

“And ‘ere, to start, we have seared duck foie gras with wild mushrooms and lapsang souchong. For the main course to follow, we will be ‘aving Sauté gourmand of lobster and truffled chicken quenelles. Finally, for dessert, pink grapefruit soufflé. I hope the menu is to your satisfaction?”

Ellie nodded, grinning her approval. “Sounds divine, thank you!”

“Very well. Et bon appétit.” He gave us a little bow and exited into the kitchen.

“This looks amazing, Julien. Thank you for going through so much trouble.”

It gave me a lot of pleasure to see her so happy. “No trouble at all - enjoy.”

Dinner was fantastic - worth the thousand bucks it cost me to hire the chef. It was also really good to have a date enjoy her food, unlike the women who I was used to dating in the past, who preferred to watch me eat instead.

Following dinner, I took her hand and led her inside to the den, switching up the music along the way. We got settled on the sofa together.

“Tell me, how do you like working with Pieter?”

“He’s great, why?”

I felt my chest tighten. “Great?” I moved closer to her, running my knuckles down the side of her face. She bit her lip and closed her eyes. Fucking gorgeous. I didn’t want her thinking that of any other man apart from me.

“Why, don’t tell me, you’re jealous?” She opened her eyes, teasing me with her smile.

“I admit. I don’t like it. He’s too close for comfort.” I watched her reaction. She sat up straight, a look of surprise on her face.

“Julien, you’re being silly. He’s just a work colleague - honestly, he’s been nothing but professional.”

“Good. He better keep it that way.” My voice came out in a growl, a lot more possessive sounding that I intended.

She looked into her hands. “It’s not easy for me too, you know. Seems I have to deal with your exes every corner I turn.”

I took her hand in mine. “I know I have a past, Ellie. But remember that, okay? They’re my past, not my present.” I needed her to understand…in her presence, they meant nothing to me.

She sighed, nodding her head. “I know…it’s just hard…”

I stood up, taking her hand and pulling her up too.

“Come on, I’ll give you that tour I promised.”

So I took her around my house, showed her the whole place - from the screening room, the indoor pool, the gym, my extensive library and then finally, leading her to my favourite place.

“Last stop. The roof.”

“The roof? What’s on the roof?”

“Hot tub and champagne. Come on.”

Five minutes and a few flights of stairs later, we stepped out of the small alcove. Seconds after, soft lights flickered on, lighting up the whole place with a soft glow.

“Oh my God. This is incredible.”

I smiled as I saw her reaction, spinning around, taking in her surroundings.

“If you liked the view down below - I’m thinking you’re going to love this.”

“Wow. I don’t know what to say.”

I watched as she slowly walked around the roof, stepping around the huge hot tub I had installed. I walked over to the small fridge and pulled out a bottle of vintage champagne. Popping the cork, I poured the bubbling liquid into the flutes and handed her one.

“Do you come here often?” She smiled and then we laughed at her cheesy line.

“Well, I like to come up here to think…it’s clear up here, the view’s spectacular and sometimes, you can even see the stars.”

She took a sip of her champagne. “I need to sit down for a minute.”

“Sure.” I followed her to the lounge chairs, flicking the switch to turn on the hot tub along the way, in case of any impromptu dipping.

“This is another world for me, Julien.” She spoke softly.

I didn’t know what to say, but I appreciated that it must be slightly overwhelming for her.

“I’m…sorry?” My voice faltered as I looked into her eyes. The last thing I wanted was to make her feel uncomfortable.

I drew closer to her, the need to kiss her overwhelming.

“Don’t be sorry…I love your house.”

She raised her hand to touch my face, and I almost groaned at the contact. I could see her breathing speed up as she ran her hands down the side of my face, stopping along my jawline, no doubt feeling the rough stubble there, a contrast to her soft skin. I looked up and our eyes locked, the electricity between us crackling away, waiting to explode.

“I don’t do this kind of thing, Julien… I’ve only had one boyfriend…and I’ve only ever had sex once.”

I pulled back, shocked at her confession.

“Are you serious?”

Even in the dim lighting, I could see her blush furiously. She nodded, averting her eyes. “Yeah, I, um, had to take care of my dad…with school work, then university, I guess I’ve never really had the time for boyfriends.” She offered me a small smile.

“And your last boyfriend?”

“We were together for a few months…it wasn’t really anything special. I finally decided to sleep with him, just to get it over with.” She smirked. “He was really drunk…so let’s just say it was over pretty soon. And so were we for that matter.”

I couldn’t believe some asshole had the chance to sleep with her and then fuck it up so badly.

“Sweetheart, I promise I’ll make it better for you in every way.”

I leaned closer, hearing the breath hitch in her throat. My dick was rock hard and as much as I wanted to take her here and now, I closed my eyes as my body became filled with so many complex emotions. I kissed her, pressing into her, so that she was soon lying on her back and feeling her full breasts heave against my chest. I trailed my hands down the small of her back, squeezing her against me as we deepened our kiss, my body burning with heat for her.

I ran my hands over her curves, exploring her waist, her ass and then finally her tits. I couldn’t hold back any longer, spurred on by the sexy noises she was making at the back of her throat. Christ, she felt so fucking good. I needed more of her. Seeking permission, I trailed my hands along her smooth legs, inching up towards her thighs. She moaned into my mouth so I continued my exploration, slowly reaching up between her thighs and spreading her legs gently. I could feel her nails press into my back as I got closer to her pussy, and then I pressed my hand against her soaking wet panties.

She moaned again, deep and low, her whole body alive, vibrating and responding to my touch. Slowly I pushed aside her panties and began to softly caress the space around her clit.

“Mmmm” She threw her head back moaning with pleasure.

“That’s right, baby.” I growled against her neck, teasing her with my fingers. Pulling away and nuzzling against her breasts through her dress, I inhaled deeply as I pulled myself lower down, kneeling in front of her on the lounge chair. Smiling at her, I slowly pulled off her panties and parted her legs.

I heard her gasp as I grabbed her ass cheeks, almost lifting her off the chair and pulled her onto my face, my mouth and then my tongue. She moaned loudly, and threw head back, wrapped up in the sensations I was giving her.

“You’re fucking delicious.” I nipped her gently and she almost screamed in ecstasy, gripping the sides of the chair until I could see her knuckles whitening. I slowly inserted a finger into her tight, wet pussy, exploring her slowly and patiently as my tongue lashed against her.

“Ohmygod!” Her head thumped against the chair and she gripped my head, pulling and scratching my hair, bucking and rolling against me.

“You like that?”

“Please….don’t stop!”

I held her firm as I pulled her further down the lounge chair, urging her to ride my face even harder. I could tell she was close from the sounds she was making and I increased my speed.

“Come.” I commanded. “Come for me, baby. Now.”

She moaned louder, “yes, yes, yes” over and over again, grinding harder and faster against me until I felt her still, tightening against my finger and then pulsing hard against me, releasing waves of pleasure. I continued to lick her gently, pulling every last drop of her orgasm out of her, until I felt her body sink into the chair.

“Oh my God.” She gasped. “That was…incredible.” She was almost purring.

I smirked as I pulled myself up. “Your pussy is incredible.”

Her eyes were drowsy as she struggled to regain control of her senses. “Wait, what about you?”

I leant in and kissed her gently and tenderly. “The night is still young.” Then I scooped her into my arms, holding her tightly against me, and made our way to the roof exit.

Carrying her into my bedroom, I pressed a button along the way, which immediately threw a soft glow into the room. I liked my bedroom with its minimalist decor, thick pile carpet and low-style bed, with silk sheets. It was understated luxury and decadence.

My hard-on strained against my pants and my balls were heavy. I ached to bury myself inside of her but I reminded myself to take it easy. She was inexperienced and a rush of primal pleasure flowed through every nerve in my body with this thought. She looked into my eyes and I saw nothing but openness and trust…and need. There was something very different about this woman in my arms - not her eyes, not the lush curves of her sexy body nor even the way she came so loudly on my roof a few minutes ago. There was something genuine and real about her that had me more turned on that I’d ever been in…a very long time.

I gently placed her onto my bed and lay down beside her, taking a moment to appreciate just how fucking beautiful she looked, how her eyes were so full of naked desire. I sat up and pulled off my shirt, smirking as I saw her eyes widen in pleasure at my abs.

“You like?”

She smiled shyly. “I like…a lot.”

“Why don’t we see if we can get that dress of you?”

She sat up slowly and I reached behind her to unfasten the zipper. Slowly the dress fell down over her shoulders, as she gazed intently into my eyes. I couldn’t wait a moment longer to have her naked, so I grabbed the dress and pulled it down to her waist and over her legs. Without hesitating, I reached behind her back and unclasped her sexy black bra. I exhaled loudly. She looked fucking amazing in that dress, but out of it, she looked like a goddess. Her body was so perfect, curves in all the right places that no amount of surgery could ever perfect.

“You’re so fucking amazing.” My mouth was hot and breathy in her ear, my hands cupping her full tits and lightly playing with her nipples.

“I’m afraid I’m not a size zero.” She blushed self-consciously as she went to cover her body.

“I don’t want a fucking size zero woman.” I answered her harshly; annoyed that she would even consider that. “I want you and all your heavenly curves.”

I pushed her down gently onto my bed and took a moment to see her beautiful body. Quickly discarding my pants, I crawled onto the bed, pulling our naked bodies together.

“Touch me.” I was desperate for her touch. Slowly and hesitantly at first, she ran her soft hands down my chest, and then finally gripped my aching cock.

“Oh wow, you’re huge.” She smiled against me and I brought her lips to mine, kissing her roughly, wanting to possess every part of her.

“I want you so badly, Ellie.” I moved so she lost her grasp on me, for fear I would explode in her hands. Kissing her neck, she arched her back as I made my way down to her breasts, licking and kneading her nipples with my hands and mouth, giving them the attention they deserved.

“I want you, Julien. I want you inside me.” She was breathy as she ran her hands over my back. She didn’t need to ask twice. I reached over to my bedside drawer and pulled out a condom, ripping open the packet and sheathing myself whilst she watched with lust-filled eyes.

“Are you sure you want this?” I look into her eyes, searching for any doubt.

“Oh, God, so much. Yes!”

“Take my dick.” I said and she immediately responded. “Put it inside you.”

She took my shaft and guided me against the soft entrance of her pussy, rolling my head against her wetness, moving from side to side as she started to pull me inside, inch by agonizing inch, a low moan escaping from her.

I couldn’t bear it a moment longer and although I tried my best to hold back, I pushed into her tight wet pussy and saw her eyes widen in shock. Shit.

“Are you okay, baby? I’m sorry, I’m going too fast.”

“No, no, it’s fine. Just give me a moment to get used to you.” She gave me a sexy smile as she moved around, getting comfortable. “Okay, go deeper.”

“Damn,” I panted as I worked a little swing into my hips. “Your pussy is so sweet.”

She moaned again, loud and low and I pushed deeper, urging her to let me move faster.

“Oh God, feels amazing. Can you move a little more?”

I laughed and started moving against her, thrusting my hot length of cock inside her with passion.

“You’re perfect, Ellie. Can you feel how much I like it? Can you feel how fucking hard you’re making me?”

“Yeah, feels so amazing.” She panted against me, as we found a rhythm together, all of my senses were centralised around my dick inside her, as I struggled for control. Reaching down between her legs, I stroked her clit at the same time, eliciting more cries of pleasure from her.

“Yes!” She screamed and I could feel her pussy tightening around me. “Oh Julien, oh God, I’m going to come again! Shit, don’t stop. Please!”

She gasped for breath and then let out a low wail, tightening up even more. The pressure in my balls was ready to break free and the blood in my veins felt as if it was on fire. I picked up speed as I neared my peak, moving in short, fast strokes. I felt the base of my spine tingle, signalling imminent release, and with a final thrust, I threw my head back, and roared my release. Simultaneously, I felt her pussy pulsate around my cock, as she arched and thrashed around on the bed, our moans and cries mixed together - a chorus of mutual ecstasy.

Spent and exhausted, I gently pulled out of her and fell heavily to her side as we waited to catch our breath.

“Damn…your body…” I couldn’t get my words out, still panting wildly.

As the last of our fatigued breaths died away, I nuzzled into her neck and shoulders, breathing her in. She looked tousled and sated; the feel of her softness and the heady smell of sex was perfect. After a few more moments, I sat up, kissed her cheek and rolled off the bed. Padding to the bathroom, I returned with a warm washcloth.

“Are you okay, baby? Was I too rough?” I sat on the bed with the washcloth and towel, suddenly worried that I may have hurt her.

“No way, Julien. That was amazing…I never knew it could be like that.” She smiled softly, her eyes heavy with sleep.

I took my time, cleaning and drying between her legs and then discarding the towels, I climbed back into bed and wrapped an arm around her, pulling her towards me.

This was all new to me. Normally I’d fuck a woman and then ask her to take the spare room, or ideally, call her a taxi. For whatever reason, I couldn’t bear to be apart from Ellie - I needed her close to me. She gave a soft sigh of pleasure as our bodies came together seamlessly.

“Are you sure you’re okay?”

“Okay? Mmmm. No. I’m fantastic?”

“You most certainly are.” I agree with a smug grin. I kissed her forehead. “Happy?”

“Mmmmmm.”

“Talkative too, I see, Miss Hartley.”

She giggled against my chest. “Sorry, I was just thinking.”

“Oh?” I felt a wary apprehension seep into my voice. “Thinking” in my experience was generally a bad idea. I’d known too many women who started talking shit and acting irrationally, right after “thinking” way too much. One of the reasons I tended to avoid emotional attachments - simply safer that way. I worked up the courage to go ahead and ask. “What are you thinking about?”

She looked up at me, laughing and grinning. There was a mischievous glint in her eyes.

“Nothing really…”

“Nothing?”

She bit her lip, looking all shy and coy. “Well…I was just wondering when we can do that again…?”

Fuck. This woman was going to ruin me.

We pulled up outside the clinic in Julien’s black 911 and he looked at me softly.

“Are you okay?”

“Great…just a little tired.” I smiled, giving him a playful poke. The man was a machine in bed, not that I was complaining - although my unused muscles were screaming in protest.

He smirked at me as I removed my seatbelt. Just about to pull open the door handle, I felt him gripping my arm.

“I had a wonderful evening…night…and morning with you, Ellie.”

I looked into his stunningly handsome face and my breath caught at his words. He was due in court today to file some papers and the designer suit he was wearing was a crisp steel gray, with a slightly darker shirt and tie. I glanced at his trousers, which clung to his muscular thighs and his jacket, which stretched across his solid and broad shoulders. He had the chiselled masculinity of a marble God, all angles and strong clean lines apart from the light stubble across his jaw line. How in the world did I ever get so lucky to be with this man – temporary as it may be? I quickly pushed that thought to the back of my mind, determined to enjoy this for however long it lasted. No man had ever affected me so strongly, pushed every button within me that I didn’t even know existed and took me higher than I’d ever thought possible. Whilst he looked at me intently, I sucked in a lungful of air because I’d almost forgotten to breathe. I locked eyes with him, smiling. “I had a wonderful night too, Julien. Thank you.” I felt myself blushing as a flood of memories came through, suddenly feeling shy and overcome in his presence.

He reached out and placed a finger under my chin, directing my gaze back to him.

“I hope we can do this again. Sometime soon.”

I nodded. “I’d like that too.”

“Ready to go in?”

I nodded, grabbing my bag and flashing him a grin. “Let’s do this!”

I was so busy with work that I barely had a chance to see him - I knew he was out for most of the morning and I found my thoughts escaping to him, hoping that everything was going to plan at his meetings.

“Someone looks in an especially good mood today!”

I looked up from my clipboard and saw Penny standing in front of me with a silly smile on her face.

“I have no idea what you’re referring to.” I tried my best to sound stern, but clearly failed miserably when she burst out laughing.

Pur-lease, girlie. I wasn’t born yesterday…!”

I relented, shrugging my shoulders, my face involuntary splitting into a grin.

“I want details, Ellie Hartley. But first, Pieter wants to see you when you’ve got a few moments – nothing urgent. If you want to go now, I can take over for a while?”

I placed my clipboard back down and quickly glanced at my watch.

“Are you sure, I’m happy to see him over my lunch break?”

She waved me off. “Go. I’ve got my patients covered.”

I made my way down to Pieter’s office wondering what he wanted to talk to me about. I enjoyed his company; he had a fascinating background and was a thorough professional in every way. Knocking lightly at the door, I entered his office to see him seated at his desk, with a stack of files covering the surface.

“Is this a good time? I can come back later?”

Pieter looked up from his work and ushered me in.

“No, I could do with a break from this.” He gestured to the seat opposite his desk.

“So Ellie, I was just wondering how things are working out for you here? I mean with Nina gone, and Penny temporarily replacing her, I hope everything isn’t too, how should I put it - up in the air for you?”

I considered his question. If anything, I was enjoying my work a whole lot more without Nina’s presence.

“I’m really enjoying my work, Dr Van Wyk - I mean, Pieter.” I smiled. “Penny is an amazing nurse and I’m learning so much from her.”

He looked at me closely; frowning slightly and I felt myself fidgeting in my seat, hoping that I hadn’t said anything wrong. He spoke softly after a few moments of silence.

“You know my background, right?”

“Of course. You spent a lot of time working for MFS - Doctors without Borders - in central Africa. I must say, I’m in awe of that.”

Pieter’s background was highly impressive. I was especially inspired and almost slightly envious of the time he spent with the medical humanitarian aid organisation.

He smiled slightly at my compliment.

“Thank you, Ellie. I had a wonderful time with MSF, it’s a different world to this place, as you can imagine.”

“Yes, the polar opposite, I’m sure. The work must have been incredibly rewarding.” I said it with a wistful note, hoping that one day, I’d be able to have a chance to be in a position where I could help the under-privileged too.

“What are you doing here, Ellie?”

I sat up straight in my chair. “Pardon?”

“I mean, what’s your passion? Is nursing in cosmetic surgery something you see yourself doing for the long haul?”

I took my time before I answered.

“Honestly, Pieter? I don’t know.” I looked around his office, trying to gather my words. “When I graduated, all I wanted to do was to work in a kids hospital, along with my best friend, Kate. I wanted to train and work in oncology - I think I still do. Then all of a sudden, my professor approached me with the position here…and it seemed to good to turn down. The experience and prestige of working at B&F is something that I’m truly grateful for. But in answer to your question, I’m still figuring things out.”

I hoped my answer was good enough because right now, that’s all I had.

He nodded his head in understanding. “You’ve still got plenty of time, Ellie. I agree, the experience you receive here will look fantastic on any resume…but-“

“But?”

But…don’t give up on your dream. That’s all I want to say.”

I gave him a small smile. “Thank you, Pieter. I will bear your advice in mind.”

We spoke for a little while longer and then I excused myself, keen to get back to my patients.

As I walked back, I felt confused then ever.

The next morning, I woke early, hoping to call home and catch my father before he went out for his pint down at the local pub. I hadn’t been able to speak with him for almost a week and I found myself missing him terribly. My schedule was so busy here and at times, it felt like I was slipping further and further away from my life back at home.

I dialled the number and waited whilst the phone rang. After a few rings, he picked up.

“Hi dad, it’s me!”

“Ellie, hello sweetheart! How are you?”

“I’m doing well, thanks. How are you? Are you on your way out?”

“No, not tonight, love. Thought I’d stay in for a change.” He laughed it off but I was immediately worried. He rarely missed his weekly drink with his friends.

“Are you okay, daddy? Are you not feeling well?”

“No, no, love. Don’t you go worrying over me. I’m fine, just a little under the weather. Nothing that a hot cup of lemon water and honey won’t fix. Now tell me about you.”

I hated it when my dad felt ill. Perhaps it was seeing my mother pass away in front of us, but I couldn’t stand the thought of him being sick as well. And I was thousands of miles away from home.

“Ellie? Are you still there?”

I felt a lump in my throat but quickly swallowed it away.

“I’m here, daddy. Sorry, I can’t help worrying about you. Have you eaten anything?”

“I’ll be alright, darling! And yes, I’ve had some soup earlier so I think I’ll have an early night - I’m sure I’ll be right as rain tomorrow. Now, enough about me. What’s going on over there?”

“I don’t know, dad. There’s a new partner at work and we had a conversation yesterday about my career…”

“Oh, what did he have to say for himself?”

“Well, not much really. He was just asking if I could see myself working in cosmetic surgery indefinitely. And I got to thinking. Again.”

“Are you having doubts? Are the people you work with not nice to you?”

I smiled at the worry in his voice. “No, nothing like that.” I felt a flush of heat spread across my body as I thought of Julien. “They’re all great, dad. It’s just…I don’t know if I feel…fulfilled anymore.

“Well, it’s almost been three months. Do you think you have learnt a lot?”

“Definitely, dad. I guess, when I thought about nursing, I always envisaged myself working with kids. This is so far removed from what I thought it would be. It’s just really different to what I expected.” I felt a sudden catch in my throat, and my eyes stung with tears, overwhelmed at the choices facing me. Plus hearing his voice, I missed my dad. This was the longest we’d ever been apart. However, there was still a lot tying me to the clinic, and now with things progressing with Julien, I wasn’t sure I could simply walk away.

“How’s that Julien Berthou, chap? He treating you alright?”

I smiled through my tears. I had always been a terrible liar - no point starting now.

“He’s great. We, er…we’re kind of seeing each other.”

“What? You and Julien, the billionaire doctor?” He seemed shocked at my words.

“It’s still new, dad,” I replied hastily, “We’ve just been on a couple of dates…but I really like him. Oh God, I don’t know what to do, dad!”

He was quiet for a moment. “Ellie, you are the most precious thing to me in the world, sweetheart. I want you to be happy above anything else. I don’t care if he’s some billionaire - if he doesn’t treat you right, you make sure to pick up that phone and I’ll be on the first flight over! You got that, sweetheart?”

I giggled at his dramatics. My dad was incredibly protective of me, more so since my mum passed away. “Okay, dad, I promise. But rest assured, he’s treating me like a princess.”

“And so he bloody well should!” He took a breath before he continued. “Now, going back to your job, love. Do you have to work for him in order to be with him?”

I realised that was the same connection I told Julien not to make - us and my career were two different things.

“No dad, I don’t have to work for him to be with him. I’ve made it clear that my career is separate to anything we have going on.”

“Well in that case, love, it’s a tough choice but only you can make that decision. You have to weigh up the pros and cons of staying at B&F versus working at a general hospital. Ultimately, money is not the be all and end all, you need to put your happiness – in this case, job satisfaction - first.”

“Dad, thank you.” I felt a weight lift off my shoulders as clarity dawned upon me. Sure I really enjoyed working at B&F - the opportunity was nothing to be sniffed at, but in reality, I couldn’t ever say that I truly loved my job. I missed the real life, nitty-gritty nursing that I was experienced with and I knew that if I stayed at B&F, my dreams would simply fade into the distance. “You’re the best. I think I knew it already, in my heart of hearts, but it really helped talking it out.”

“So, I take it you’re going to be looking for new job?”

“Yes, dad, correct. I’m going to look into positions at the local children’s hospital. That’s where my passion lies.”

“I know it does, darling. Keep me posted, okay? And don’t do anything rash until you have secured another job!”

I smiled at his sensible advice. “Of course I won’t.”

We spoke for a little while longer catching up on some of the gossip back home. He seemed happy to hear my voice, but had to pause a couple of times when he broke into coughing fits. He seemed weaker as we concluded our call.

“Are you sure you’re okay, dad? You don’t think you should call a doctor?”

“Don’t be silly, girl. I’m going to head up to bed now, I’m sure I’ll be a lot better tomorrow.”

“Okay…if you’re sure. I’ll call you in a couple of days to see how you’re feeling. Get better soon, daddy. Love you.”

“Love you too, sweetheart. Enjoy your weekend.”

I hung up, concerned and offered up a quick prayer for his health. I hoped it was just a summer cold and nothing more - my dad meant everything to me.
