Crazy Good Love by MF Isaacs (27)

Apparently while Steve spent the day working, he found time to talk to my dad about the job offer. He told both Cal and my dad that we would be moving as soon as the semester was over. He even found time to email the professors we had in common asking if we could take our finals early. That night I contacted my other professor requesting the same thing.

We spent the rest of Friday night making plans for our move. If we could test early we’d take them the week after Vegas then spend the weekend packing everything. If we couldn’t test early it would mean we would have to pack everything up before taking finals if we wanted to get moved in time for Christmas.

Saturday, the guys left us alone as we planned every aspect of the wedding we could. I contacted Mary to let her know that I would still be available for a photo shoot, but that my time would be limited due to Sierra and Cal getting married. She freaked out and wanted to know all the details about the wedding. Mainly she wanted to know if they had a photographer for the event. Next thing I knew my photo shoot was scheduled for Thursday night eight to ten and then again Friday morning eight to noon; after that Mary would be busy shooting Cal and Sierra’s wedding.

While talking to Mary she asked if either of us had picked images for our photo books. I still hadn’t even looked at them but I mentioned that Cal knew about the pictures and wanted Sierra to order them all. It only took me a couple minutes to convince her I wasn’t kidding and that I would be getting my own hotel room. If she was going to refuse money from us for doing Sierra and Cal’s wedding pictures, I wasn’t going to accept any money for modeling. Before saying good bye she offered us a couple passes to the book signing convention, she said it would be a great opportunity for me to see they type of book my image would be used on.

After hanging up with Mary it dawned on me that I was going to need to tell my mom, at minimum, about the modeling before we showed up in Vegas. I had to have an explanation for how we found this amazing photographer and why she wasn’t willing to accept payment for her services. If I was lucky my mom wouldn’t feel the need to blab it to my dad.

I pulled Sierra down the hall to tell her the good news about Mary wanting to do pictures, if I thought her reaction to winning $500 was over the top, I will be the first to tell you I was wrong. She lost it jumping around, crying and carrying on; I had to hush her several times so I could tell her we were going to be forced to tell at least my mom about the boudoir photo shoots and my modeling. There went her jumping around and carrying on while the tears doubled. After giving her a few minutes to freak out, I convinced her to go take a bath while I filled my mom in. Since Cal and Steve already knew about the photo shoot, the worst that was going to happen was she would tell my dad.

Once I got Sierra squared away, I took a cleansing breath and made my way out to break the news to my mom. Nothing like telling your mom you took your clothes off and let someone take pictures of you, I guess it’s a good thing she likes Steve. With Sierra in the bath, it was tempting to throw her under the bus but that wouldn’t explain me modeling while in Vegas.

Walking up to the table I just went for it, “Hey mom. Good news, we found someone to do their wedding photos. It’s actually kinda funny how this is all playing out. Not really something I wanted to tell you about, but I can’t really hide it at this point.” I could see the panic on her face; I need to just spit it out. “I have a photo shoot scheduled with this photographer in Vegas and when I told her the whole story of my brother and Sierra getting married while we are there she offered to do the wedding. She is refusing to accept any payment for doing the wedding. She already knows Sierra. You see, I won a boudoir photo shoot with her and I brought Sierra along with me. We had our pictures done and planned to give Steve and Cal photo books for Christmas. A few days after the photo shoot, the photographer, Mary, called me because she does custom book covers and had an author who was looking for a red head. She asked if I was interested, long story short Mary and the author were already scheduled to be in Vegas for a book signing convention or something like that. Anyway, the author wants to be present for the photo shoot.”

Looking at my mom it appears she may be hyper ventilating, “OH MY GOD! Are you serious? Oh my god, who is the author? Oh my god. I can’t believe this.”

Seriously she started fanning herself while repeating, “oh my god” over and over. I told her I didn’t ask who the author was but that I could call Mary back and ask. She scoffed me while giving me a dirty look, seriously who is this woman. Then she went back to firing questions at me, questions I had no clue how to answer. Here I was, worried she would freak out that I was posing half naked, nope not my mom. What the fuck, this was the same woman who let my dad and brothers shelter me to the point of wearing nun style clothes up until 4 months ago. Just as she started to calm down, I made the mistake of telling her that Mary was giving us a few passes to the convention which caused the self-fanning, saying “OH MY GOD”, and freaking out to start all over.

Who knew my mom was a closet book whore, or at least that is what she called herself. I left Mary a message letting her know my mom is freaking the fuck out and wants to know who the author is that wants to use me for their cover. I am sure she could hear for herself that my mom was freaking out. Seriously I had never seen my mom act like this; which means there is no flipping way she was going to be able to keep this from my dad; great, just fucking great.

Thankfully I was able to redirect her attention back to the wedding planning and by the time the guys came back she was focused on something else. Mom decided that she and dad needed to fly out the day before the rest of us so they could deal with any last minute issues, plus they are packing all of our dresses.
