ROY (Shifters of Anubis Book 3) by Sabrina Hunt (27)

Roy

Kesari was laughing in my ear as I kissed her neck and I lifted my head to look at her again. And again, I was incredulous. She was lying here, underneath me, eyes sparkling green and gold, lips seeking mine and her bare skin against my own. Flushed from the pleasure I’d brought her.

We were together.

Not only that, but we belonged together. It was formidable, this push and pull.

All the tension and bickering, the heated moments, even the laughter and the little touches made sense to me now. We were being drawn to each other.

Neither of us could have helped it. It was like stars striking in the depths of space, unable to fight the forces that brought them together.

And I’d never been so happy. I thought my heart would burst like those very stars.

Sitting up, I pulled her into my lap and Kesari’s long legs hooked around my waist. She tossed her hair as she leaned in, kissing my nose, then my chin and my lips. Hungry, I devoured her mouth, until we both had to come up for air.

“Damn, you’re delicious, Kesari. I suspected as much,” I said. “Good to verify it.”

“A good scientist always does,” she teased.

“Mm, I love your voice,” I murmured against her neck as I tasted it. “It’s so unique. Warm and lilting, but distinct. That touch of India, German and French. And when you were calling out my name,” I growled the last word. “I did not want you to stop.”

“Thank you,” she said with a laugh. “I’ve never really thought about my voice before.”

“You’re welcome, Kes,” I murmured.

“Anytime, Roy,” she teased. “Roy.” She pressed a kiss to my cheek. "Roy, my Roy.”

I was already hard and now I couldn’t take it anymore. Pulling her waist down, we became one and I watched her head fall back.

Kissing her neck, I held her with one arm as I pushed the other into her hair. Our hips rose and fell together. Kesari was crying out my name and tossing her head.

Watching her come undone amplified my own satisfaction and I growled as she looked at me. With a grin, I slowed the pace and she gripped my shoulders, glaring at me.

“Roy, I-ah-ah,” she suddenly gasped as I circled my hips and thrust hard. “Oh, oh, yes.”

“Kes,” I grit out as a familiar wave of pleasure hit me.

We came at the same time, holding onto each other and our hearts slamming together. Kissing her shoulder, I reluctantly disentangled us and laid down, letting out a sigh.

“Running out of steam?” Kesari asked, her fingers drifting across my chest.

"No," I said, opening my eyes and looking up at her. "A little overcome is all."

She nodded, her eyes filled with understanding. It was intense what was between us. A pleasure running so deep and down to the bone it almost hurt.

Yet all you wanted was more.

Tugging her down on top of me, we kissed and kissed until I was certain I was bruising her lips and stopped, checking on her.

“Roy, you trained me. You know I’m not gonna break,” she said. Her lips teased at my ear as she whispered. “Playing a little rough is fun.”

“Kesari,” I groaned as she giggled and looked down at me. “You are going to kill me.”

Suddenly a hand wrapped around my length and she smirked. “Nah, but I am gonna hold you to that long night promise.” I let out a hiss of air as Kesari straddled me, her fingers massaging my hip bones and her center that hot promise of pleasure.

Gripping her hips, Kesari slid down on top of me and I stared up as she bit her lips in bliss. Arching her back, she stretched her arms and smiled.

“Oh, damn,” I said, as every nerve lit up with that same shared bliss.

We rode that wave together, her bouncing on top of me as I gripped her, moving her faster and her nails raked down my chest. It was almost too much and I shattered hard.

Kesari did too, then she did it again and again. I watched her gasp as multiple orgasms hit her and I smiled in triumph as she collapsed against my chest, drenched in sweat.

“Roy, you’re too good at this,” she gasped out.

Running my fingers across that silky and warm skin, I grinned to myself as I looked down at her dark head and then flipped her over, pushing her down into the mattress.

“That’s because it’s all for you, Kes,” I said, staring her down. “You and only you.”

Our lips met again as our bodies slipped and slid against each other, the friction building – all of that intense pleasure lay in wait, until the right moment.

Until we came together again.

And we did, as I had promised, all night long.

“I am so tired,” Kesari said, entering the office with a bang and closing the door shut behind her. “Roy, can we go home?”

I glanced up at her with a grin. “Monday blues?”

“We stayed up too late last night and especially the night before," Kesari said, coming over and plopping down on me. I went to protest but instead, my arms went around her. She kissed my jaw. "Not that I regret it, so don’t get all finicky gentleman on me.”

“I was not,” I retorted. “And me either,” I murmured, with a reminiscent smile. “I’m almost done, so please do not go and get a caffeine fix to force yourself to stay awake and work for a bit.”

“What if I want to stay awake for other reasons?” Kesari whispered, sitting up and kissing my cheek. “What’s a little lost sleep in the grand scheme?”

“Let me finish so we can leave,” I said hastily.

“Finish it tomorrow,” Kesari said, standing up and walking behind me. She wrapped her arms around my neck and pressed her face to mine. “We both agreed to be better about working late. That way we can stay up late for other things…”

“Yeah, but leaving because I want to – well,” I said, clearing my throat. “Not exactly what we agreed on. You had better have been kidding about putting that in the contract.”

“Mm, that’s a fringe benefit,” Kesari whispered, her lips driving me crazy as she made her way towards my mouth. “Roy, you know you can’t say no to me.”

I laughed and she did too.

“Five minutes,” I said, even though I was starting to wonder why this couldn’t wait.

“Roy,” she whispered, kissing my cheek again.

I’d confessed to her late last night about how her little kiss on my cheek had meant more to me than she or I realized. It was in that moment I’d allowed myself to hope and dream a little more. Why I’d asked Piper if we could continue to work together.

“Woah, what is going on in here?” came Dara’s loud and amused voice.

We both looked up as Obi, Dara and Dez entered, along with Rurik, who loped over. Kesari had overtaken my senses completely and I hadn’t even heard them come in.

“Kissing,” Kesari said shamelessly and I laughed.

“You could have knocked,” I said in mock anger.

“We did,” Obi said, raising his eyebrows. “Huh, I wondered when this would happen.”

Kesari straightened up, hands on her hips and demanded, “What?”

“It was obvious,” Dez said. “You’re not hard to read, Kes.”

“Although Roy usually is, except anyone with eyes could see he was smitten,” Dara teased.

I shrugged. “Yeah, yeah. Tease and torment me all you want. I do not care.”

Dara sighed. “I can’t tease you when you look that happy, although I can be odious about being right.” She shook her head. “Took you two long enough.”

Rurik rested his head in my lap and gazed up at Kesari. She’s the best. Good choice, boss.

Kesari shot him an affectionate look and then we smiled at each other until Obi cleared his throat.

Tossing her hair, Kesari flounced from the room. “I’ll leave, I’m too distracting.” She shot me a wink and then mouthed five minutes or I’ll end you, Roy.

“Ivan is on his way here,” Obi said and I nodded. “You don’t seem surprised.”

“I’m not,” I said grimly. I’d been expecting this since he showed up. “What else?”

“Herrod is, too. If I had to guess – Ivan is playing Herrod – who suddenly volunteered to lead a full-on manhunt into the mountains after ignoring TLO take-down initiatives for months. Piper is trying to thwart them, but he’s got some of the Heads on his side.” Dara shook her own. “They know nothing about the situation, yet they want to come in here and just take over. Typical Black Ops. We just need a few more soldiers and instead, we get shunted to the side.”

“If you ask me, I think Herrod is still mad so many of his team left for Piper’s. Faye Knight and Peter Bao, especially.” Obi shook his head. “Although I don’t disagree with you, Dara.”

“When will they be here?” I asked. “And how many of ours are they taking?”

“Piper is sending in more, but at least three-quarters of our people,” Obi said.

“It’s killing our mission for their own ends,” Dara fumed. “What do they think we’ve been sitting on our asses? Not every situation calls for an all-out frontal assault.”

“I’m betting the attack on Finni changed that,” I said. “Don’t worry, Piper and I planned for this. We had a feeling this would get manhandled eventually. Thankfully we’re almost done here.”

“What now?” Obi asked.

“Get some of our people who we absolutely trust who will get pulled into Herrod’s group to keep an eye out and report back to us daily. And let me know as soon as they get here.”

“Probably the day after tomorrow,” Dara said with grim humor.

“Like the movie,” Dez said, then winced. “Oh, bad joke.”

“Yeah, way too soon, Dez,” Dara said, eyeing him.

We talked more, hammering out how to handle Herrod and Ivan, then bid good night. By the time I got downstairs, Kesari was already gone and I headed home on the snowmobile, following her tracks through the snow.

When I got inside, the first thing out of my mouth was, “Why didn’t you have bodyguards?”

“I did,” Kesari said, turning around placing her hands on her hips. She’d changed into that slouchy shirt that slipped low on one shoulder and leggings. “I had Rurik.”

Letting out a sigh, I went to say more and bit it back. Shrugging out of my coat, I was lost in thought until Kesari placed a plate in front of me and sat down, leaning her head on her hand.

“What’s wrong, Roy?” she asked softly.

“Shifters of Anubis politics biting me in the ass,” I said. “I do not know why I thought if my grandfather had moved on from pulling my strings, other family members would too.”

“Family and Shifters of Anubis go pretty much hand in hand, huh?” she asked carefully. “From what I’ve heard, I mean. Not your family in particular.”

“You are not eating,” I said, listlessly twirling my fork.

“I already did.” Kesari grinned. “I was way too hungry to wait for you.”

“Did I take that long?” I asked.

“About an hour,” she said. “What I expected.”

Glancing at my watch, I was surprised to see she was right. “Sorry.” When I met her eyes again, I saw she was sitting there expectantly, but not saying anything and I laughed. “We’re about to experience a bit of a coup,” I explained. “Herrod and Ivan are coming to help.”

Kesari’s lip curled into a snarl and I fought down another laugh. “We don’t need their help.”

“No, we don’t,” I agreed. “And I have to admit – I’m afraid they’re going to ruin what chances we have at solving the purpose of this base beyond the hybrids.” She nodded and her shoulders slumped. “Don’t worry, Piper and I have laid plans to remedy that…. But still, it sucks.”

Stretching out her arms, Kesari laid down her head and looked up at me. “What can I do?”

“You are already doing it,” I told her, reaching out and taking her hand.
