Our Bubble
Tasha
“Tasha,” LaSalle barks through the house.
I grin to myself. He had to take a call out by the pool. He was disturbing my concentration. Since he read my entire book to me on the sailboat, I’ve had so many ideas on ways to tweak the book.
I finally got frustrated and came inside, despite the disapproving look on my husband’s face. He’d said the call would only take a minute, but it was clear it was going to be much longer than that, as he barked into the phone in Italian.
That was an hour ago. From the sexy growl in his voice, I know he has words for me. It’s been four days since we’ve been here in Greece. We haven’t been out of each other’s sight for longer than a few minutes the entire time.
I look up from my laptop as he enters the room. Oh, God, the pout on his sexy face is so adorable. I move the laptop from my lap as he climbs up the bed.
His big hand clenches my waist as he kisses my lips. “I thought I told you to stay put,” he grumbles against my lips. “I missed you and having you close would have kept me from smashing my phone.”
My mouth pops open. “You smashed your phone?” I gasp.
He shrugs and turns onto his back. “I may have cracked the screen. It will do until we return home.”
I burst into a fit of laughter, moving to straddle his lap. “What am I going to do with you?” I purr.
LaSalle palms my ass and settles me on his growing erection. “I have a whole lot you can do with me,” he smirks. “But first I want you to talk to me. I need to get my mind off the bullshit.”
“What’s wrong,” I ask, placing my hands on his chest.
He rolls his eyes and grunts. “I said take my mind off of it,” he sighs.
“I heard you, but maybe the best way to take your mind off of it, is to talk about it,” I shrug.
“On second thought, let’s just have sex,” LaSalle wiggles his brows, while running his hands up my thighs.
“Shut up, silly,” I slap his chest.
“They found your ex-fiancé’s mother getting her hands into some things she has no business in, again. She has gotten wind of our engagement and wedding and now she’s poking around for help to get to you,” he sighs, but his penetrating eyes never leave my face.
I fold my arms over my chest. “I think it’s time I have a little visit with that bitch,” I snap.
LaSalle presses his lips. “The hell you will. I have it covered. She can only get the bottom of the barrel to respond to her requests. I’m taking care of it. I just don’t like her timing.”
I furrow my brows. “That woman is dangerous and resourceful. She has always hated me. You should just let me handle this,” I say cautiously.
LaSalle sits up and cups my face. “I thought you trusted me,” he says as he searches my eyes.
“I do,” I say softly.
“Then know that I have this under control. I’m dealing with all of it,” he says with promise in his voice.
I nod. “Okay, now tell me what you are leaving out.”
“No, enough, I don’t want to talk about those things. Come, your husband wants to work on our family,” LaSalle says effectively silencing me.

I open my eyes and inhale. I have a lot of shit to attend to when I return home. It is eating me up that we will have to cut this honeymoon short.
There’s too much going on for me to be away for so long. I need to hit hard and I need to do it now. Carlton’s mother is the least of my worries.
The underworld is on the move. I need to be in place when they hit again. This is what the elders in the Alliance were afraid of—an all out war.
I knew it was coming, but it’s all a part of the plan. We’re playing for power, someone is going to get crushed. It just won’t be me.
I look down at my wife. I love the way her dark skin glows in the light spilling in from the window. The white sheet draped across her now, only amplifies her soft curves and beauty.
Her hair is a mess from sleep and me tugging at it. I smirk; Tasha is so passionate during our lovemaking. I hate that I have to take this time from her. She has been the most relaxed I’ve seen her in a long time.
I couldn’t fix my mouth earlier to tell her our honeymoon is officially over. Our bubble has been burst. I wanted to give her just a few more hours. We can leave first thing in the morning. I know it will be short notice, but at least she will have one more night of peace.
“Baby,” her sleep filled voice greets my ears. Her eyes are still closed as she reaches for my face.
I kiss her fingertips, her palm, then reach to hold her hand to my face. “Yes.”
“I know we have to go. Stop stressing and go back to sleep. I know who you are. I see what you don’t say. I’ll pack our things at dawn. Is that alright?” she murmurs, without opening her eyes.
I reach to pull her body to mine. “I love you,” I say in her ear. “That’s perfect. I’ll make this up to you, I promise.”
“I love you, too. It’s the life I’ve chosen, Baby. I’ll ride through whatever. Besides, I miss the kids,” she yarns.
“They miss you too,” I say and kiss her temple.
Every time I think I couldn’t love this woman more, she sucks me in deeper. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for her. I will make this up.
