Kyle
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Who the hell said anything about an interview?”
“It’s what the people want Ky, plus they’re ready to pay a mint for it.”
I check the clock and see the time is later than I’d thought. “We’ll finish this conversation later. I told Sophie I’d pick Gabe up from camp today.”
“This is important!” Preston yells in outrage.
I don’t give him an answer. He’s pissed me off more lately than he has the entire time I’ve known him. I’ve never realized how selfish he is when it comes to money and something interfering with my career. I’m going to have to think things over and where I’m taking my career from here. It’s making me wonder how big of an asshole I’ve been lately to not see it.
When I pull up to the school I sigh in relief that no one’s gotten out of their cars yet. I can’t be late with my first pick-up by myself. It’s been three weeks since the jail fiasco and this is the first time she’s asked me to do it by myself. I’ve jumped in with her here and there on a few days so I know what I’m doing.
As I usually do, I exit the car and scope out the area. Our saving grace was having the school in a secluded area up on a hill. Only one way in making it easy to monitor and keep the photographers out. It also helps that it’s a small summer camp and not actually school in session.

Once we get to the old Victorian house, I once again look around before exiting the car. This place isn’t as easy to hide from the public eye but the paps haven’t seemed to link it to us yet.
“Mommy! Uncle Harley!” Gabe yells once we walk through the door and I come to a halt when I see Sophie in the arms of another man. What the fuck?

Gabe sighs then runs into the other room after giving this sketchy character a high five.

“Nice to meet you man, I’ve seen all your fights while Sophie screams at the TV.” He chuckles making me once again say, what the fuck?
I make sure to make my hand shake extra firm and I need to school my expression so I don’t laugh in this guy’s face. “Nice to meet you too.” I’m about to ask him who the hell he is to her when he says he’s late and needs to leave. But wait, not before giving Sophie a peck on the lips and promising to see her later that night.
“You’re seeing that clown tonight?”
She rolls her eyes and ignores my comment. “I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind watching Gabe for a bit tonight? I’m going out with Harley. I know it’s short notice but if you can’t I’ll ask my Mom. He’s only in town tonight.”
“You have a booty call?” I growl.
She gets a twinkle in her eye. “What if I do?”
“One second…” I walk away. “Don’t fucking move.” I point at her then head in the direction Gabe went and find him with Sophie’s Mom. “Hey Anne, are you good with him for a second? Sophie’s going to give me a tour of this place.”
Once she nods her head with a knowing smile on her lips, I turn with determination and nothing left to deter me from my mission. I walk back into the room with a little swagger in my step and a little shriek leaves Sophie’s mouth when I pick her up and throw her over my shoulder.
“Kyle, put me down!”
