Vycon (Zenkian Warriors) (A Sci Fi Alien Abduction Romance) by Maia Starr (126)

DR. LAVENDER PROST

I could not believe that I had given in so easily to Ren when he showed up at my door. No words were even said. No words needed to be said. In a way I thought that was very sexy, but also very foolish of me. I wanted to believe that he did care for me but how would I know if he was simply tricking me again? In the morning he could go back to treating me cold. But in the moment I did not care about any of that. I needed him and I wanted him to need me. It was the best sex of my life and it was with an alien warrior that I essentially knew nothing about. His emotions flip flopped on me constantly and I was simply a fool for him. I wanted to talk everything over after we made love, especially after he told me about how he could control the sex dream in my mind. That had my scientific interest at attention. But then it all changed so rapidly and with out warning.

I had never heard something so terrifying as the blasts that jolted Ren and I from the passionate reconciling. After he told me that I should join the underground bunker and left my side. I was very fearful that I would never see him again. I had no idea what was going on out there and not knowing felt very scary. I did as he asked and I ran down the hall into the left toward the stairs. But as I was beginning to climb down the stairs, I heard someone shout.

"The rebels have infiltrated the base! They blew a hole in the fence! They are inside the grounds of the base. We have been overrun!"

Those words stopped me in my tracks because I knew that there would be many injuries. I would not live with myself if I went and hid and cowered waiting for the fighting to be over. I was a skilled reconstructionist and I could save lives if I was on hand immediately. The longer you waited the more damage would be done. I turned around knowing that he would be angry with me for defying orders. But I had to do what I had to do. I ran back down the hall and to my room. I pulled on my boots as I listened to the sounds of blasting and battle just outside. I was not exactly dressed for battle in the white muslin dress, but there was no time. I ran out of the room, and out of the building and was shocked by what I saw. There was fighting everywhere. The light beams of darting blaster shots zoomed by here and there. I looked ahead across the face at the reconstruction building that was on the other end. There was no other way to get there other than to run across the battlefield. It would be complete suicide. I looked around at the injured that were lying on the ground. I saw a few being put on stretchers and taken to the reconstruction building. That was where I was needed. That was where I needed to go. I looked around wondering if I could see the General. But I could not see him. There was too much fighting and chaos and it was dark. I hoped that he was okay. I could not lose him. I could not lose him now when there were so much that was unsaid between us.

"Lavender, you can do this. Just take a deep breath and just run," I said to myself. I took a deep breath and then I was off. I ran straight for the reconstruction building dodging laser bullets and fighting and wrestling that was going on around my feet. My heart was beating so fast and I thought that at any second I was going to be shot. I ducked. I ran. I screamed in terror. For a second I thought I heard my name being shouted on the wind, but I knew it was just my mind playing tricks on me and the fear of the moment. Finally I made it inside the building. I held onto the wall and recaptured my breath. I was safe, sort of. There was no guarantee that the rebels would not blow up this building as well. I pushed that thought out of my mind and I ran straight to the washroom to wash my hands sterile. Then I went to work. There were many wounded that needed immediate care. I was joined by the rest of the crew that worked within these walls. Together we were able to get a handle on the situation. More and more injured were being brought in and I searched each and every one to see if it was the General, it was not. I don't know how long the battle lasted as I felt like it was going on for hours. Boom! There was another explosion and we all froze. We all felt like we might be next at any second. Explosions were still being planted around the base, and there could be an explosive in here now, or even on the roof. All we could do was hope that there was no such thing.

I worked steadily and quickly. Then, the sounds stopped and it grew eerily quiet, except for the shouting of the warriors. A warrior ran in and said, "The rebels have retreated! We have retaken the base. Be prepared we are bringing in the injured!"

We sighed a collective sigh of relief. I continued working feeling grateful that we had not been blown to bits and that the base held up under the attack. What the hell did they want anyway?

Moments later, Ren came into the building and I was so relieved when I saw him. I ran straight to him and threw my arms around him.

"You're alive! I was so scared!" I shouted at him.

He grabbed me by the shoulders and looked me in the eyes with anger and said, "Why did you not follow my orders? You put yourself in danger. I could not live if something happened to you! You should be down in a bunker," he said with such passion. His words made me feel good that he did in fact really care about me. Perhaps he even loved me. I was about to kiss him when I said, "I know, I know. I am very sorry. But my place is here. I had to help. I could not go and hide when so many need my help and I have the skills."

He smiled at me and said, "I know. When I saw you running across the base in this flimsy dress I thought you were the most courageous female I had ever seen, or the dumbest."

We both laughed a little and then he kissed me deeply. Then out of nowhere, he collapsed. I was in complete shock and it was then that I noticed that the blood on his arm was his own.

"The General is down! Please help me get him up!" I shouted. Within seconds there were many around me picking him up and putting him on a bed. I quickly looked him over. I had to save him. I could not lose him. Not now that he was so close to being safe. I looked at his arm and realized that there was an artery that had been cut open. It was causing a substantial amount of blood loss, but it was not gushing out therefore it went unnoticed. But who knew for how long he had been bleeding from this. It could've been within minutes of him leaving my side in which case it would have been a big blood loss.

"I need blood! Get ready for a transfusion!" I said as I let the holographic projection examine his blood type and tell me the match. This had to work. This had to work. I could not lose him. I did not want to be alone on this planet without him. He meant everything to me now. I would save his life dammit.
