Maniac by Nina Auril (29)

Alex

“Is it supposed to be that color, though?” I frown as I look at Quinn arranging the pillows on the couch.

“Yes,” she sighs in exasperation.

“I reminds me of toothpaste,” I reply sullenly.

“It’s mint green,” she places her hands on her hips. “And it goes great with the dark grey of the couch.”

I’m about to reply, but then Shelby comes running in and jumps on the couch, getting his muddy paws all over Quinn’s new pillows.

“No! Oh my god, Shelby! My new cushions! Out!” She tries to catch him but only succeeds in chasing him around and creating more of a mess. He finally jumps off the couch and runs to me. I bend down to catch him and cradle him in my arms.

“Bad, Shelby, bad boy,” I scold him, but when I see Quinn is distracted by collecting her pillows, I take his paw and give him a high five. “Good boy,” I whisper to him.

“I heard that!”

I raise my eyebrows at Shelby and then put him outside the door. Walking over to Quinn, I wrap my hands around her from behind and nuzzle her neck.

“Alex, not now, everyone will be here any second now and what am I going to do about these pillows?” She sulks and tries to grab for the pillows she dropped when I grabbed her.

“Stop fussing, Sugar. Nobody is going to care if we don’t have pillows.” I try and calm her down.

“Cushions,” she mumbles, getting more annoyed. I don’t tell her that I don’t know the difference. Instead, I turn her into my arms and make her look at me. She takes one look at my face and then rolls her eyes. “It’s the first time they’re going to see the place, and I wanted it to be perfect.”

“Sugar, they won’t care. They’re our friends. They only care that we’re happy.”

It’s been three weeks since the race, and ever since I brought her home that night, I’ve refused to let her leave. We spent the past two weeks shopping for new furniture, since I threw all of mine out, and replaced them with things I actually like. Well except for the toothpaste pillows but Quinn finally stepped in after pizza pillow number four and the donut carpet. I don’t really care what she does with the place; I’m just happy she agreed to move in with me.

We’re hosting our first party in the newly decorated space. A dinner doubling as a housewarming.

“Why do you call me Sugar?” She frowns up at me. “I never asked.”

“Because,” I kiss her sweet lips. “You smell like cookies. It’s one of the first things that made me fall in love with you.” Her face softens at my words, and she kisses me. When she tries to pull away, I hold her tighter and kiss her deeper. I still can’t believe I get to do this whenever I want. Her hands find the edge of my shirt, and those delicious nails of hers make goosebumps erupted all over my body.

“Let me in, bitches! I need to pee!” We’re interrupted by Harlow banging on the door.

Quinn and I pull apart reluctantly, and once I make sure our clothes are adjusted, I walk over to open the door.

“Geez, what took you so long?” Harlow shouts as she bursts inside. With her hands holding her crotch she dances from foot to foot. “Bathroom?” She asks, and I point her in the right direction.

“I told you not to have that extra chamomile tea before we left!” Noah calls after her as he enters. “Next roommate I get is going to be a man. Girls are ridiculous,” he rolls his eyes at me as he hugs Quinn. “I never knew exactly how crazy she was until she took your place. Your hair looks good.” He motions to my head that is for once not covered with a beanie.

“Thanks, Quinn cut it for me.”

“Hey, mom,” Quinn reaches for her mom where she’s standing behind Noah and hugs her. “Thanks for going to fetch her, Noah.”

“No problem, she gave me cookies.” He smiles at her.

“Cookies? You got cookies?” I frown.

“Relax,” Isla laughs at me. “Here,” she shoves a container at me. “You get some too.” I grab the cookies from her and give her a one-armed hug before opening it and start to stuff my face.

“You’re going to spoil your dinner,” Quinn grabs the cookie out of my hand and walks off to the kitchen with the container.

“Hey, man,” Brant claps me on the back as he enters the apartment with Abby and a massive canvas in tow. “Here,” he shoves the canvas at me. “Where’s the beer?” he asks although he doesn’t wait for an answer and heads towards the kitchen. “It feels so weird being the one raiding your fridge.” Smiling he re-enters the living room and goes to hug Quinn. “Whatever you’ve done smells great.”

I want to tell him to get off my girl, but I’m too distracted by the painting. Out of the wild brush strokes and crazy colors comes an image of Quinn and me holding each other. Tire marks and balloons are scattered behind us.

“Um,” I scratch the back of my head. No knowing what to say. I’m touched by the effort he put into this. “Thanks, man.”

“Are you going to cry?” Brant curls his lip at me, causing me to laugh.

“Fucking, asshole,” I laugh with him.

“Nice towels!” Harlow comes to stand with us. “Also, I took one of your contraceptive pills. I forgot to take mine today. You don’t mind, do you?” She looks at Quinn whose eyes are huge in her head. “Kidding,” she holds her hands up. “Kidding, geez. I just peed.”

“Why are you drinking the chamomile again?” Quinn shakes her head at Harlow.

“Ugh,” she flops down on the couch, dramatically. “I still haven’t gotten an internship. I only have like three weeks left to find one. Ooh, nice couch.” She rubs her hand along the fabric. “What’s up with these cushions, though?” Harlow looks at them in disgust, and I raise my eyebrows at Quinn who in turn rolls her eyes at me.

“Hey, son,” I hear a throat clear behind me and look around to see George standing in the doorway. “Quinn.” He nods at her. He steps forward to hug me awkwardly around the box he’s carrying. We stand in the doorway looking at each other, not really sure what to do. We’ve been talking since the race and seen each other a couple of times, but it’s still weird between us. Mainly because I don’t know how to navigate this new relationship we have.

“Come in, George.” Quinn saves the day and ushers him inside.

“Yes, I… thank you. I brought… uh,” he places the box on the dining table behind the couch. The one Quinn insisted we need. “I brought you some wine.” He pulls a bottle from the box, we all look at him. None of us are really wine drinkers. “And some beer.” He holds up the twelve pack he pulled from the box.

“That’s my man!” Brant says, taking it from him.

“And, uh, a toilet brush,” he waves it around at us. “Everybody always forgets to get one.”

“Oh, thanks,” I begin. “But we…”

“We really appreciate it.” Quinn rushes out and taking it from him frowns at me as if to tell me not to be rude.

He smiles at her, pride shining in his eyes. “I also got you this potted plant and a welcome mat. Oh, and this toy for Shelby. The lady at the store said it’s good for his teeth.”

Quinn shakes her head and smiles at George. “Well, I can definitely see where Alex gets it from.” She ignores his frown of confusion and gestures to me. “Alex, why don’t you take this box to the bedroom? We can sort it all out later. And then you and George can set the table while Harlow and Abby help me in the kitchen.” She rushes everyone into action. “Noah and Brant, you two… uh… sort out some background music.”

Once we’re all seated and getting stuffed on the dinner Quinn made, I look around the table, and I’m overwhelmed by what my life has become. I may never have had a real family, but seeing all the love and laughter around this table, I think I lucked out on the best family I could ever wish for.

“Alex,” Quinn touches my arm to get my attention.

“Sorry, what?”

“George asked about your racing.” She says softly, spotting the emotion in my eyes.

“Quinn says you may have a team spot?” George repeats his question.

“Oh, yeah,” I wipe a napkin across my mouth and clear my throat. “There’s a guy at the track who just had another kid, so he’s quitting. Darian said if I can manage to get my racing license, I’ll have a spot on their team next season.”

“I have no doubt you’ll do well, son.” George nods at me, and I feel a strange warmth in my chest from his encouragement. I found out later that he was behind the lenient sentence I got for beating up that kid, and the reason I wasn’t thrown in jail over the races. He called in all the favors he had to make that happen. Well, that and the expensive lawyer Erik’s father got us to broker the deal. Erik stepped up in the end, but there’s still a lot he needs to make up for.

“It’s not NASCAR yet, but it’s a step in the right direction. And legal.”  I squeeze Quinn’s hand under the table, and we fall back into familiar conversation.

Isla winks at me from across the table. She’s looking better and better each time I see her. Her test results came back, as did mine. We both got a clean bill of health. A fact that’s made Quinn very happy. That and the fact that she got her assistant’s position.

“It’s a good thing you’re always hungry otherwise we’d be having a problem with all this leftover cheesecake.” Quinn bends down to rearrange things in our fridge to make space for half of the cheesecake. God, I love that ass.

I grab her from behind and run my hands all over her body.

“Alex, I need to…”

“You need to kiss your boyfriend,” I say and turn her to me, grasping her face and kissing her. She lets out a small moan and her body molds to mine.

I have her shirt off and her ass on the kitchen counter in a second. I kiss along her throat as I take her bra off and she leans back on her arms to allow me more access.

“Shit,” she yelps. She got her fingers into cheesecake when she leaned back. Laughing softly, I reach for her fingers and slowly suck the cake them as she watches me with parted lips.

“Too good to waste,” I reach over and take a handful of cheesecake. She gasps as I smear it all over her tits. I take my time licking it off her, savoring every sweet taste of her skin. I suck at her nipples, making her moan with my tongue and only break long enough for her to peel my shirt off.

She reaches back for some cake and smooths it over my chest. My head falls back from the pleasure her tongue on my skin causes. She undoes my jeans and pushes them to the floor. Slipping off the counter, she takes another handful and smears it over my cock. Entranced, I watch as she kneels before me and that pink tongue of hers runs all over my shaft.

“Jesus, Sugar,” I mutter, my hand fisting in her air. Her tongue runs over my balls, and I have to brace my hand on the kitchen counter to keep from collapsing.

“Fffuck,” she sucks me in, that tongue massaging me as her head bobs over me. I fight to keep my eyes open, in a battle between the exquisite feel of her hot mouth on my shaft and the sight of her sucking me off.

I pull her up and push down her jeans and panties, and when I have legs wrapped around me, I kiss her as I carry her to the bedroom.

I lay us on the bed and slip inside her, our mouths never leaving each other. That only happens when my thrusting changes from slow and savoring to wild and animalistic. I still can’t get enough of being inside her, still can’t get enough of chasing the pleasure with her. I fuck her and listen to her moans until we’re both a sweaty mess of moans and grunts and screams and we’re both tumbling over the edge into the abyss.

“If things carry on this way, I’m going to need to take some cardio classes,” Quinn says as I collapse on top of her.

“Sugar, if you still have energy left for cardio, then I’m not doing my job well enough.” I kiss her neck as she laughs, and even that soft guttural sound makes me want to go again.

I slip my hand down her side, and up the leg she still has wrapped around me. Her body shifts underneath me, angling her hips up to meet my cock.

“Wait, I forgot,” I pull away from her and ignore her confused expression as I jump up and out of bed. I rip open the cupboard and pull out the balloon I hid there yesterday. “I wanted to give you this before dinner, but then… anyway,” I wave my head in front of my face and sit on the bed to give her the balloon.

“If this is for another wish, then I wish for more sex. Right now.” She’s just as insatiable as I am.

“No,” I smile at her as I lay down beside her, balancing my head on one hand. “This one isn’t for wishing. You don’t need any more of those. I plan on making you so happy you’ll never need another wish again,” I reach over her to find the needle I left in the bedside drawer. “This one is for popping. Ya know, like I plan on popping your backdoor cherry.” I laugh as she shoves me aside and pops the balloon. There’s a little shout of fright followed by a gasp when she sees what I hid in the balloon.

“Oh, Alex. It’s beautiful.” She looks at the necklace in her hand and touches a finger to the platinum balloon pendant and strokes the two small sapphires set in it. Blue is her favorite color, and mine. I bought it with the last of my racing money, and I couldn’t think of anything better to spend it on.

She leans over to kiss me, but I stop her. “Turn it over. There’s an engraving.”

She flips the necklace. “Life changer,” she whispers the words, and frowns at me, not understanding.

“That first night we met, you said you wished you could change someone’s life. You changed mine, Quinn,” I sit up and take the necklace from her, pull her into my lap and put it around her neck. “I don’t ever want you to forget that.”

She fondles the pendant and then turns around to straddle me. “Alex,” she starts, but her voice cracks and a tear rolls down her cheek.

“No, baby, I’m sorry,” I wipe the tear from her face, feeling like a complete asshole. “If you don’t like it, I can take it back. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you cry.” She waves her hand at me and bites her lip.

“It’s not that,” she chokes on another sob. “I love it. It’s just… I think you’re going to take my cherry sooner than I thought.”

I throw my head and laugh. Right before I pin her down and take her until she screams my name. It’s still the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.
