Heat: Gay Love Stories (Romance Short Story Anthology Book 4) by Jerry Cole (31)

Chapter Two

The Elite Program got underway quickly. I worked out with a couple of new people and it was going fine. I was nervous every time I went to someone’s house or apartment, but I hadn’t run into any real problems. That was until the end of the week when Jeremy told me about the latest client I’d be taking on.

Jeremy let me know about my newest client for the new program. His name was Kevin Dean. He was forty-three and lived on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

The apartment building was one of those beautiful, fancy ones. It had a green awning outside with the name written in script. There was a doorman who had to get permission to let me upstairs. Whoever this Kevin Dean was, he was probably making a lot of money to afford a place like this. I had learned quickly that fancy in New York and fancy in Los Angeles were two different things.

I reached his tenth floor apartment and knocked cautiously. The door opened a few seconds later, and I was greeted by a man scantily clad in a towel. It hung loosely off of his waist, his v-cut abdomen exposed.

“Hello, I’m Christian,” I greeted him. I tried to hide my nervousness behind a smile. When I was nervous, I smiled. It was a reflex.

The man was shorter than I expected. He was about five feet nine inches tall. He had a slim build. His skin had this unnatural glow to it, no doubt a symptom of tanning too much. He had dark brown, puppy dog eyes. His hair was slicked back on his head with water but appeared to be receding, if I wasn’t mistaken.

“Yes, you are,” said the man. He looked me up and down a few times in a way that made me nervous. It was summer, so I had on sneakers, shorts and a tight sleeveless workout shirt. The whiteness of the shirt was a nice contrast to the caramel of my skin.

“I’m Kevin. Kevin Dean,” he said, extending his hand for a shake. I took it and grasped it firmly. “You’re early. So sorry to open the door like this, but I’d just gotten out of the shower when you knocked. I hope that’s not a problem.

“No, it’s cool. May I come in?” I asked. He stepped aside and allowed me into his apartment.

His front door opened into a huge living room area. Paintings were on some of the walls. The blinds were open and he had a balcony with a beautiful view of the city skyline.

“Please, have a seat,” he told me, guiding me over to an armchair. “Tell me about yourself.”

“I’m twenty-five and I’m from Los Angeles. I moved here to further my career as a trainer,” I told him. I was feeling slightly uncomfortable because he hadn’t made any moves to put on clothes yet.

“Cute,” he smiled at me. He must have thought his smile was endearing, but I found it to be kind of creepy. “Well, I’m not sure how much Mr. Ellison told you about me. I’m forty-something and I’m looking for someone to help me get fit.”

“You don’t look bad at all,” I said. I was going to say he didn’t look bad for a guy his age, but I didn’t want to offend him. Plus, in my experience I’d learned that age really was just a number. Guys twice my age had better bodies than me.

“Thanks for noticing,” he smiled that smile at me again, “but I have to be able to keep up with guys like you.” He patted me on the arm. I quickly moved my arm away and he kept on talking as if I hadn’t done anything. “I’m married. To a man. I just wanted to get that out the way in case you were a homophobe or something. Unless you’re a member of the family as well?”

I’m sure my confusion was written all over my face. “What?”

“Are you gay?” he asked expectantly.

“No,” I said firmly. This guy was really testing my patience. I just wanted to begin the workout. It got quiet after that.

“So when do you want to get started?” I asked, breaking the awkward silence that had fallen between us.

“Oh honey, I’m already started,” he said in a very strange way. “I’m going to go and throw on some workout stuff, and I’ll be right back.”

He got up and headed toward one of the doors that led to what was probably his bedroom. As he entered the door, he ripped the towel from around his waist, exposing his ass. He seemed to pause dramatically, just to make sure that I’d seen it.

I had been hit on before by gay men. In my line of work, it was a common occurrence. Kevin Dean was taking it to another level though. I wasn’t sure if he had the wrong idea or whatever but I hoped he was able to keep it together. I’d tell Jeremy about it later on so that he was aware.

After he was dressed, Kevin and I started working out in a spare bedroom that had been converted to a gym space. While we were making small talk, he seemed nicer and I actually started to lighten up to him a little bit. He told me that he’d been married for five years. He was in a relationship with a guy he’d met years ago while on vacation in Europe.

Kevin seemed to really be trying hard to turn me on in some way, despite me telling him I wasn’t gay. While I was helping him stretch, I realized that he didn’t have any underwear under his shorts. He also had no problems with lifting his legs high so I could get a full view of his crotch area. It was hairless and his penis was flaccid. Not an attractive sight at all.

He explained that he was trying to make sure he stayed in shape. He mumbled something about him and his partner exploring options. I didn’t know what he was talking about, but we just kept working out.

After about an hour or so, we were joined by a man who I assumed to be his husband. He was tall, dark skinned and appeared to be around the same age.

“I didn’t hear you come in, dear,” said Kevin. If his husband heard him, he didn’t really acknowledge it. His husband was giving me the same creepy look that Kevin had given me when I first came in.

“Hello, I’m Charles,” he said as he walked over to me and greeted me. He finally looked down at Kevin. “Hi hon.”

A knowing look was exchanged between the two of them. I wasn’t sure what it was, but I wasn’t a fan of it.

When the workout was finally over, Kevin got up and thanked me for it. He said it was a much harder workout than he’d anticipated but he enjoyed it.

“No problem at all,” I said.

At that moment, his husband came back into the room. Before I knew what was going on, he’d grabbed my ass full on.

“What the fuck?” I almost yelled as I jumped back. “What’s wrong with you?”

“Charles!” Kevin said in a playful way. “I haven’t gotten up to asking him yet.”

I was getting angry. Whatever it was that these two wanted to ask me, I’m sure I wanted no parts in it. “Ask me what?”

“Well,” Kevin began dramatically, “I mentioned to you earlier that Charles and I were exploring options. We were wondering if you’d like to participate in a threesome with us?”

“What?” That was all I could get out. I was shocked. I hoped they were joking, but I knew immediately that they weren’t. I just looked at them. The anger that welled up in my chest threatened to come out, and I didn't want to explode on them. Instead of dignifying their question with a response, I turned and left. I was mad as hell and I needed to vent. I texted Jeremy and asked him if he was home. He told me to come over to his house.

While I was making my way over to Jeremy’s house, I had a moment to think. I was offended by their advances, but there was something else going on in my head. I wasn’t sure of what it was though. Only time would tell.
