“How?” she asked, and I filled her in on what had gone on with him and me since we’d talked last.
“Hmm,” was all Autumn said in return, thinking.

“It sounds like you might have actual feelings for him,” she said wryly.
“But I don’t even really know him,” was my plaintive response. “How could I like Josh? How could I marry him? Things are so mixed up.”
“Well, you two have known each other your whole lives practically,” said Autumn reasonably. “If you just keep at it and keep getting to know him, maybe you’ll find that he really could be a good husband for you.”

“Do you really think so?” came my small voice.
