Adrianna Valdez’s POV

“D-Damien?” I stammered as I looked up to see the towering figure of the man I love.

“We have to talk, Adrianna.” His eyes blazed with determination as he strode towards me.

I sniffled and drank in the sight of Damien greedily. His hair was mussed up, dark shadows were under his beautiful blue eyes, and his clothes were wrinkled, but to me, he had never looked more gorgeous.

“Damien, please go,” I ordered quietly and turned away from him, swallowing back a fresh set of tears.

“No, not until you tell me why. Was it something I said? Did you not like the ring or did I do something wrong?” Damien pleaded, and I sobbed at the pain in his voice.

“No! It’s not you. It’s— I-I just can’t marry you, Damien!”

“Why? I can change, Adrianna. I’ll do anything. Is this because you’re with my child?”

I inhaled sharply and faced him. “You knew?”

Damien nodded. “Olivia came by and blurted it out by accident. Why won’t you marry me? We can be a family. Well, technically, we’re already on the road to becoming a family,” he said hopefully, and that made my heart ache.

A reluctant smile had crossed my face before I stared at Damien longingly. I wanted his arms around me telling me he loved me.

“Unless you don’t want to marry me because you don’t love me anymore or there is someone else,” Damien said quietly, his blue eyes filled with anguish at that statement, and my lower lip trembled.

“No, it’s nothing to do with that, Damien. I still love you, but I can’t marry you.” I pleaded, trying to make him understand. Damien’s stance relaxed slightly but grew confused and frustrated.

“If I love you and you love me in return, what is holding you back?”

I ignored his question, “Do you not think it is too soon to get married? I mean we’ve been only together for four and a half months,” I said pathetically.

Damien frowned in annoyance. “What’s the problem? We love each other, and we have a baby on the way. What’s stopping you? I guess you don’t love me as I love you, right?” Damien said bitterly as his hands clutched the box containing the ring tightly.

I gasped and gritted my teeth as tears fell down my cheeks. “I’ve said it before! I do love you, you stupid idiot! I’m scared that if I become engaged to you, you will be gone like Jake!” I yelled and brushed the tears away. “That is how he was gone. After one week since his proposal, he died! I do not think I can bear to lose you, Damien. I can’t!”

I trembled, turned away and hugged myself tightly. If Damien was truly gone from my life, I sincerely knew that I could not live either.

Damien strode towards me, understanding in his blue eyes. He sat on the bed with me and drew his arms around me, holding me tightly. I shut my eyes and enjoyed his presence and his embrace.

“Adrianna dearest, nothing will happen. What happened to Jacob would not happen to me. I will fight through anything to stay with you and our child. I promise nothing will happen. We will get married, have more children and live happily ever after,” Damien reassured me and rubbed soothing circles on my back.

I snorted through my tears. “More kids? What do you think I am? And what makes you so sure that nothing will happen to you? You’re not invincible, Damien. Anything can happen from now.”

“You will be the only mother of my children and the only woman I love. And nothing can happen to me because I’m Damien Doukas.” Damien smirked as he kissed my forehead.

At this, I rolled my eyes at Damien’s arrogance. “And also because I will fight tooth and nail for you and our child,” he continued. A small smile made its way across my face at his statement, and I sniffled. His thumb swept off my remaining tears and gazed down at me tenderly. “I love you. I would do anything for you. All I want is to be tied to you for the rest of my days.”

His gesture made me feel terrible and guilty. After all I’ve done to hurt Damien, he still cared and loved me. Tears welled up in my eyes again, and I sobbed and pressed my face against his chest. “I’m so sorry, Damien. I’m so sorry I hurt you.” My arms slipped around his neck as I sobbed into his shirt.

Damien wordlessly hugged me tightly before kissing away my tears. “Don’t cry, Adrianna darling.” He gave me a small grin before rummaging his pocket and took out the small black box. “Adrianna love, may I ask you again to be my wife? You are the only woman for me, and I love you very much. So? Yes or yes? Choose one. I’m not taking a no this time.”

I laughed through my tears and nodded eagerly as my throat was clogged up from all the crying. Damien gave me a brilliant grin before he gently took the beautiful ring and slid it onto my left ring finger.

I grinned at the action and studied my left hand. The ring seemed like it was always meant to be there, and Damien seemed to agree as his lips swooped in and landed on mine.

His lips moved against mine with urgency while his arms pulled me onto his lap. I continued kissing him as my hands ran through his dark curls.

This kiss was filled with joy, love and passion and I could feel it all the way to my toes. His tongue swept across my bottom lip, and I gave him access and moaned when he bit it. He kissed me tenderly and softly and I almost wept at the sheer intensity of it.

Damien pulled away before giving me a heartbreaking smile before pushing a tendril of my hair behind my ear and traced the side of my face gently with his hand. “I love you, Adrianna.”

My eyes teared up again, and I gently caressed Damien’s face. “I love you too Damien. I love you very much.”

Damien let out a brilliant smile before his lips landed on mine again. I moaned, and he tilted my head to deepen the kiss. His hand that was clutching my leg started moving higher and under my nightgown. My breathing quickened, and my insides quivered with anticipation as Damien scooped me up from the edge of the bed and gently tossed me to the middle of it.

I watched him with anticipation and excitement as he crawled onto the bed and over me. His hands gently caressed the side of my face while he slid the sleeves of my nightgown down my shoulders. My body was trembling with need, and I reached over to unbutton Damien’s black dress shirt.

“I love you, Adrianna mou,” Damien said huskily, and I panted.

“I love you too, Damien.”

Damien kissed me hungrily, and we lost ourselves in each other.

Damien Doukas’ POV

“Do you think they’ve settled their differences?”

“Oh, no, no, no, of course not. They’re moaning because they’re angry at each other.”

“You are so funny. Ha! I bet you’re just grouchy because you’re jealous Damien was getting some.”

“I could get some anytime, anywhere. Remember that corner at the street where all the sorority girls hang out, Drake? You had that hot brunette who could do things with her tongue and—”

“Shut the fuck up, asshole!”

“Wait what? What brunette?”

“Oh, oops, my bad.”

“Drake, what brunette?”

“Nothing. Some girl I, uh, did when I was younger. They’re nobody, Liv. I don’t really remember them anymore. You’re the one I want.”

“Whipped.”

 “Fuck off, bitchfucker.”

I sighed in annoyance. Those idiots that I called friends and Olivia were ruining the moment. Adrianna was snuggled up beside me as she traced random patterns on my abdomen with her fingertips while her head rested on my chest.

I suddenly remembered that I was going to be a father and flipped Adrianna over. She gazed at me with wide eyes, and she never looked more ravishing. I had to restrain myself from taking her again. “What?”

“I want to feel our child.” Adrianna smiled and took my right hand in hers and placed it on her belly.

A small grin spread across my face as I felt the small bump. I caressed the small bump and gave an amazed expression to Adrianna. “It’s our child,” I said awed, and Adrianna nodded.

“Yes. I want a boy. He will look just like you.”

I grinned and shrugged before leaving a kiss on her forehead. “Whatever the gender, I’ll love it. It’s a part of you and me.”

A soft smile spread across Adrianna’s face, and she leaned in and kissed me fully. “I love you, Damien.”

“I love you too, Adrianna dearest,” I murmured before kissing her back.
