Adrianna Valdez’s POV

I swallowed and stared at Damien, drinking in his appearance. Oh, sweet God, he was hot. His unruly dark curls were tamed to perfection. He had not shaved two days ago and was sporting stubble all over his jaw. He was wearing a form fitting black tuxedo, his broad muscular shoulders could be seen through his suit and—

Damien looked breathtakingly sexy. How could I not allow myself to share a bed with him tonight? I thought to myself as I chewed on my lower lip before abruptly stopping as I suddenly remembered I had lipstick on.

Damien seemed lost for words as his gaze raked all over me, heating me up instantly. It was as if wherever his eyes landed, I could feel the intensity of his gaze lingering on my body.

“You look… nice,” he said stunned, a glazed look in his eyes and an unusual expression was on his face. “I mean you look very beautiful.” He shook his head and gave me a charming smirk.

I raised an eyebrow and looked him over, pretending I wasn’t affected by him when it was blatantly obvious I was.  “You look good,” I said coolly, my blue eyes meeting his before looking elsewhere. Damien frowned as he sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

“You are still pissed aren’t you?”

I gave him a sideways glance before looking away again, “I am not pissed but merely displeased.”

Damien brightened. “Hey! That almost rhymed!”

I rolled my eyes inwardly. At my lack of response, he sighed and searched his pockets before pulling out a flat box. “Here, this gift is for you.”

I gently opened the box before frowning at Damien. “Buying me a diamond bracelet is not a way for you to apologize for withholding information from me. Information like all your ex-girlfriends will be there at the event.”

“First, they have never been my girlfriends. I only have one, and that is you,” he corrected, and I softened a bit. “Second, I bought this for you a few days ago. Actually, I wanted to give it to you earlier, but it seemed a little too soon. So I decided why not just before the annual Doukas charity event?”

He added, “And I am sorry for not telling you, I thought you wouldn’t come if you knew they were going to be here tonight.”

I passed the box back to Damien, and his face fell. “Could you help me put it on?” I asked gently, and Damien’s face lit up with a brilliant grin. He gently took the diamond charm bracelet out and clasped it around my right wrist.

“It is beautiful, Damien. Thank you. I love it,” I said admiring the bracelet. “But why does it only have one charm?”

Damien grinned at me, happy that I was pleased by his gift. “You can fill it up later with any memories of us you’d want to remember.”

My heart melted, and my annoyance disappeared. “All right. Thank you. It’s beautiful.”

I leaned up to kiss him but pulled away when I remembered I had red lipstick on. Damien frowned. “What? I can’t even get a kiss now?”

“I have lipstick on. It will stain your lips.”

Damien smirked before pulling me closer to him, “I don’t mind.” With that he kissed me hungrily, his hands circling my waist. I moaned softly as his tongue delved into my mouth, my hands wrapped themselves around his neck, and I sighed happily.

This kiss was filled with passion and hunger, most probably due to the fact we were interrupted twice and we had not seen each other for almost the entire afternoon.

His teeth nibbled against my lower lip teasingly before his tongue entered my mouth again, but deeper.

“What are the both of you doing?” A female voice screeched, and Damien pulled away from me and gave a glare to whoever interrupted us. I for one was still in a daze from Damien’s scorching kisses.

“You’re ruining her makeup!” Leila rushed towards me and examined me closely before sighing in relief. An amused smile crossed my lips until I saw Damien’s lips. Red lipstick was smeared all over his mouth.

I laughed softly before using my fingers to rub off the lipstick stain on his plump pink lips that I wanted to kiss again and again.

He smirked at me before kissing me on the cheek and tugged me away from Leila who was watching us warily. “Damien, don’t you dare ruin her makeup!”

Damien in response ignored her and led me down to the ballroom in his home. Instantly, murmuring, soft chatter and classical music reached my ears as we descended the stairs that led to the ballroom.

Having been in similar situations back in Spain when my parents hosted parties or soirees, I plastered on a cool, aloof facade as we walked down the stairs.

My right arm was looped with Damien’s left arm, and eyes were diverted to us immediately — mostly female. I swallowed down my jealousy for I knew Damien was incredibly dashing and handsome tonight.

I have never been out with Damien in the higher class society in Greece before. Perhaps, most of the stares were due to curiosity about my identity. I was not a Greek socialite but a Spanish socialite, only known for the name Valdez.

When we reached the foot of the stairs, Damien smiled down at me, and I gave him one in return. He kissed the top of my head, and we delved into the crowd to socialize.

Immediately, the crowd parted for Damien and me. I spotted some famous, influential businessmen whom some came forward to talk to Damien. Introductions were done, and I waited patiently for Damien to be done. His arm gripped my waist a little tighter when one of the men stared at me for a little too long. I was aware of the many curious glances being shot my way. It could be because the upper-class Greek society was used to seeing Damien with Greek socialites.

I observed Damien. He too had put on a distant facade and was conversing with the attitude of a ruthless billionaire who knew what he wanted and was determined to get it. If only the world really knew him, they would have a shock!

“Adrianna love, is everything all right?”

I glanced up at Damien, too lost in my thoughts to notice that the businessmen were gone. I smiled up at him. “I am fine.”

Damien grinned down at me, and he slowly fingered the tendrils around my face that had escaped the loose chignon Leila had styled my hair into. “You look very beautiful tonight,” he said tenderly with the same expression on his face.

Before I could respond, a cough sounded behind us, breaking the moment. “Damien! You didn’t tell me you had a date.”

The voice belonged to beach blonde woman who was eyeing Damien hungrily. I glanced up at Damien, trying not to laugh.

Damien flushed as he caught my amused expression and rolled his eyes. “Adrianna, this is Finella, uh, Victoria and, uh, uh, another one. Finella and the rest, this is Adrianna, my girlfriend.”

The woman, Finella, was joined by two other women who stared at me with disdain. I met their gaze with an icy, haughty glance before dismissing them with a scorned sniff.

All three women gasped, outraged before glancing away. What was this? High school? Damien stifled a laugh before shooting me an impressed grin.

“Damien, would you want to dance?” The woman, Finella, purred suggestively as she leaned against Damien.

Damien stepped back and tugged me to his side. “Yes, I would. Adrianna darling, may I have this dance?”

I glanced at the three women who were staring at me with ice-cold jealousy. I beamed at Damien and took his outstretched arm. “I would love to.” With that, Damien led me to the dance floor and pressed me against the hard length of his body as we began to dance the waltz.

His fingers curled around my waist, and his left hand took my right hand. My other hand clutched his shoulders as we swayed to the music. Soon, my head lay nestled on Damien’s chest as our bodies pressed together tightly, not even an inch of space was between us as we continued to sway to the music intimately.

Damien kissed my forehead before resting his head slightly against mine, and I sighed in content. Even though we were just swaying to the music and no longer dancing the waltz, I didn’t mind.

We were simply enjoying each other’s company and were lost in our own intimate bubble. It was a perfect way to end the night.
