Woohoo! I passed my driving test on the first try. Having a driver’s license and a car opened the door for so many things. The first weekend of true freedom, Sierra and I took a mini road trip. Okay, so it was really just a shopping excursion to the outlet mall an hour north of campus. Steve and Curtis were busy with volunteer hours for the fraternity so it was a perfect day for us to skip town.
On the car ride there, Sierra told me she was hoping to get more bras and underwear that would drive Cal crazy. I didn’t have anything specific on my shopping list, other than hoping to get some of my Christmas shopping done.
Before we starting shopping we stopped at the coffee stand for drinks; Sierra got her standard spritzer drink and I got a triple shot iced aloha mocha. We hit the kitchen store first, I could usually find a few things in there for my parents; Dad likes stuff for grilling and Mom likes anything baking related. Sierra bought some Thanksgiving themed wine glasses as a thank you for my parents. Fireworks was the next stop, we found funny stocking stuffers for everyone on our lists; along with matching bracelets that we bought each other and planned to save for Christmas. We each bought ourselves shoes from the Retro Mix store; new Converse for both of us and she got a pair of funky rubber boots. We hit the sporting goods store where we managed to get new workout clothes for all the guys. On our way to the lingerie store there was a gifts and cards store I wanted to look in first. There I found small personal photo albums, they made me think of all the pictures Steve and I have taken of each other; even the ones he has taken for my family. I bought 6 books with the idea that I could give one to everyone on my list. Last stop was the lingerie store, Sierra and I both got new nighties as well as bras and panties. While at the counter paying for our goods the sales lady asked if we wanted to sign up to win a boudoir photo shoot. We didn’t really know what that meant, but signed up anyway.
We stopped about halfway back to campus for a late lunch where we stuffed ourselves on chips and salsa before we even got our meals. We made plans for the upcoming week, we only had class for 5 more days before we got the full week of Thanksgiving off. We tried to get salon appointments for Thursday afternoon, since we planned to leave right after class on Friday, but the best we could get was Wednesday. By the time we made it back to campus we had planned out everything for the next two weeks, clear down to our study schedules.
Monday while studying in our room, I got a phone call from an unknown number. At first I wasn’t going to answer, but figured it might be my dad or Cal calling from work. It became clear as soon as I heard a female voice, that it wasn’t one of them calling. The caller asked for me by name then introduced herself, “Hi Hannah, my name is Mary. I am calling from Me-Mo’s Photography. You recently entered a drawing to win a boudoir photo shoot. I am calling to let you know that your name was drawn as the winner.” Now I don’t care who you are, when you hear that you won something you get excited. I still didn’t know what a boudoir photo shoot meant, but it didn’t stop me from acting excited. Mary went on to explain what exactly I won, “the prize includes: $150 gift certificate to purchase wardrobe from Lucy’s Lingerie, the store you entered the drawing at, hair and make-up styling for the photo shoot, 2 hour photo shoot, photo editing, then your choice of a 10 page book or a 12 month calendar. The total value of the prize is almost $1,000.” My jaw practically hit the floor. She went on to give me the link to the website so I could see samples of the work. She told me their schedule is quickly filling up and if I wanted to have the book or calendar prior to Christmas I would need to schedule my session as soon as possible. I asked if I could checkout the website and my schedule before booking my session. We exchanged additional information and I told her I would get back to her as quickly as possible.
By the time I hung up the phone Sierra was sitting next to me reading the notes I had taken while on the phone. I filled her in on what Mary had said and before I could give all the details she had already pulled up the website on her laptop. I can admit that women are sexy and checking out this website only confirmed it for me. Holy Shit these pictures are hot. Sierra was silent as she took in everything on the website. Before we could even finish checking out the site Sierra was bouncing around wanting to do it too. Prior to getting our salon appointments for Wednesday we had blocked out time Thursday hoping to get in after our one class that morning. So within twenty minutes of hanging up with Mary I was calling her back to see if we could schedule it for Thursday and to see if we could pay to add Sierra to my session.
Minutes later we were both bouncing around with excitement. It was working out perfectly, we had our salon appointment scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday we would both be in front of the camera getting sexy photos taken that will be the perfect Christmas presents for Steve and Cal. Hopefully Steve wouldn’t be too much of a problem, since we certainly couldn’t just tell him what we had planned on Thursday.
Hannah may have passed her driver’s license test; it does not mean she is a good driver. It’s a good thing her dad got her a mid-size SUV. If he’d gotten her a compact car, I would have been forced to buy her something different. I don’t particularly like the idea of her driving very far, because frankly she isn’t ready. On the flip side, with her able to drive herself around it has given me time to ring shop. I’ve been shopping for hours, sending Sierra picture after picture with little success. She kept telling me I was being ridiculous and that people don’t honestly wear rings like the ones I was picking. Considering I would be willing to buy her a bigger car if she needed it, I was willing to drop some cash on a ring she will wear the rest of her life.
When I got over the notion that I needed to spend a certain amount of money on her ring, I found the one. Now, I just needed to figure out how and when I would ask her.
She’s been working on Christmas presents, but there is no way I can have this ring in my pocket that long.
