The Rejected Wife by Sweta RP (21)

This was really weird, and I had no idea what was happening.

I fidgeted in the cold, metal chains that were wrapped around my numb arms. They were restraining me from doing anything, and my arms felt like they were going to fall off. I was pretty much hanging from the ceiling like a chandelier. It was pitch black in this dungeon, and the only noise was my heavy breathing.

How did everything turn out like this? One minute, I was eating. The next, I was carried away in a sack.

The sound of a door opening echoed in the darkness, but I still couldn’t see anyone. I became highly alert as heavy footsteps came closer to where I was hanging. Suddenly, I heard the sound of a match being lit and a little light appeared.

A tall silhouette was holding a small candle up to my face. I swallowed, trying to moisten my parched throat, but to no avail. The candle moved and I could now see the man. He was tall and muscular, with black hair and green eyes. As I studied his face closely, I realized he looked strangely like William.

The man cackled evilly at the sight of me hanging helplessly. He circled around me, like he was a predator about to pounce on his prey. His eyes trailed down my body hungrily, and he licked his lips like he couldn’t wait to devour me. Gross!

“Eyes up here, you imbecile!” I spat.

“Hmm, I was going to be nice and give you some food and water. But I think I’ll change my mind.” He smirked.

I rolled my eyes. As much as I wanted that water, I couldn’t show weakness to the enemy.

“Heather, Heather, Heather. The name is as beautiful as the person. William certainly got lucky with you. Tell me, Heather, have you read Fifty Shades of Grey?”

What the hell? Did he come here to chitchat about erotic romances?

“Why does it matter?” I snapped.

He clucked his tongue. “Well, if you must know, the sight of you hanging so helplessly, waiting for some sort of administration, is awfully tempting. I’m wondering if you’re as submissive as you look right now.”

I felt the terror grip me as he once again slowly circled me. There was a glint in his eyes that really disturbed me. Oh Lord, please help me!

12 Hours Earlier

“Harder!” William yelled.

I punched the bag with all my strength and watched as it barely moved an inch. What was this thing made of? Rocks?

“Argh, stupid punching bag!” I muttered.

Dexter, my trainer, laughed. “It’s all right, Heather. You’ll move it soon. We just need to build your muscle mass. Take a break for now.”

“Oh, thank you, I was about to fall over.”

I had totally forgotten about training after we found Jonah. Thankfully, Dexter had understood the circumstances and decided we could wait. Today was the first day, and I was actually quite nervous. But it turned out that Dexter was a pretty cool guy.

William, like I expected, went into possessive mode and kissed the life out of me in front of Dexter. After that, I could see William glaring at him every time Dexter touched me to fix my position.

“Nice try, sweetheart,” William said, handing me my water bottle and bouncing Jonah in his arms.

“Thanks.” I smiled, drinking a bit of water and rubbing Jonah’s smooth head.

William frowned at Dexter as he set up the next thing for me to do.

“William, stop frowning at him. You look like you want to murder him.”

“He keeps touching you all over the place.”

“William, be nice. He’s trying to help me, not hook up with me. If he ever tried, I would tell him off because I have my own man.”

William smirked and wrapped his free arm around my waist, pulling me closer. “I wonder who that is.”

I grinned and pecked his lips. “All I can say is that he’s possessive and jealous when other guys talk to me. Yet he doesn’t realize that he doesn’t need to be.”

“I bet he is really good looking and an amazing kisser.” William winked.

I shrugged. “That’s debatable.”

“Oh really? Let’s see if this changes your mind.”

He leaned down and captured my lips roughly. I felt my knees grow weak and my stomach fill with butterflies as his tongue caressed mine passionately.

“Um, guys?”

I immediately pulled back despite William’s protests and turned to Dexter. I blushed and shuffled my feet in embarrassment. William was still smirking, and I glared at him.

Dexter gave him a small smile. “Listen, man, I get that you don’t like me. But I would like to tell you that I don’t see Heather like that. I think of her as a little sister or a friend, but definitely not lustfully or romantically. So you can calm yourself.”

William smiled sheepishly. “I was acting kind of like a jerk. Sorry, man. It’s good to know that you don’t see her like that, and let’s keep it that way.”

I rolled my eyes as the two of them shook hands.

“Now, Heather, let’s get back to work!” Dexter said, dragging me to the weights.

One hour later, I was passed out on the sofa in exhaustion after my shower. I was sore all over. I moaned in pain. Thankfully, I didn’t have to do this again until next week. It gave me enough time to relax.

William chuckled and placed a cup and a plate on the table. “Here you go, I made you some hot tea and cookies. You should sleep after eating. I wish I could stay, but I have to go down to the office because there’s a problem. I’ll be back as soon I can. Your parents said they would watch Jonah for a few hours.”

I nodded. He quickly pecked my lips and raced out the door. I sighed and sipped the tea slowly, allowing the warm liquid to relax my muscles.

As I ate and scrolled through my phone, I heard a weird noise coming from the garage. I slowly shoved my phone in the pocket of my sweatpants and looked out the window to see if anyone was there. Suddenly, a hand wrapped around my neck and I screamed.

“If you know what’s good for you, you won’t scream,” a gruff voice whispered.

I felt a cold metal object poke me in the head.

A gun.

I gulped and bit my tongue to keep from screaming. As he slowly let go of my neck, I grabbed his hand and flipped him over my shoulder with all my strength. He yelped as he hit the ground. The man was wearing a mask and a black trench coat.

He growled at me, and before I could even react, he hit me in the head with the gun. I fell over, and the last thing I remembered was being shoved into a sack.

Present Time

I glared at the man. “What was the point of bringing me here?”

“Do you know who I am?” He smirked.

I rolled my eyes. “Does it look like I know?”

He snickered. “Hmm, feisty. I like it.”

He reached over and rubbed my cheek. His touch was very unpleasant, and I shook his hand off. He took a step back. “You can call me Winston.”

I narrowed my eyes. This guy seemed so familiar. I had to figure out who he was. A lump formed in my throat, keeping me from speaking, when he started unbuttoning his shirt. This really didn’t look good.

He looked up at me with lustful eyes. “Ready for some fun?”

I closed my eyes and prayed. God, please help me. I beg you.

Then my thoughts began changing.

William, where are you? Please save me from his evil clutches. I need you.

As Winston continued undressing, tears filled my eyes. I closed them once again. I could feel myself getting faint with fear and kept repeating the same thing to myself. It was the only thing keeping me sane at this point.

William.
