Biker Ruined (The Lost Souls MC Series Book 8) by Ellie R Hunter (28)

Dex

What a fucking clusterfuck of a mess that I don’t want to be in. My earlier conversation with Melissa is going to be a major block and it’s one I’m not sure how I’m going to knock down. It’s alright for Cas, he gives the order and doesn’t have to worry about the execution to success. I can’t use her again, I’m a prick but I won’t make her feel like a whore again for my benefit. However, the club is relying on me so they can focus on Danny. Like I said, a fucking clusterfuck of a mess.

The brothers are quick to leave the backroom and be the first up the bar. Danny isn’t going anywhere and they’re enjoying the freedom to get as drunk as they want. I however, drag my ass and use every second I have before facing Melissa. She’s a great lay, but when she’s not busy with me, she’s hard to handle.

She’s currently sitting up the bar next to her brother, and she couldn’t look any more protective over him if she was his mother.

“Let’s get this over and done with,” Cas laughs, slapping me on the back and pushing past me.

“Kyle, my man. Dex is going to take you and your sister home. I hope you’ve taken on board everything we’ve discussed.”

“On board and stored.”

“Good, you’re welcome here anytime.”

Melissa stands, wasting no time and grabs onto her brother’s arm.

“Come on, Kyle,” she urges and turns them towards the door.

“Stay on her till I call you,” Cas murmurs, coming up beside me as I follow behind the pains in my ass.

“I will.”

“Keep her happy, keep her quiet,” he adds and leaves me to figure out how I’m going to get around staying at her place.

The drive is quiet and I can feel Melissa’s gaze burning into the back of my head from the back seat. The vibrations of her screams she’s waiting to yell at me thrum already in ears, and my balls, well, they’re shrinking with every breath I take. How? How the fuck can she do this to me? I had it all planned, get close to her to get to Danny, I wouldn’t have to see her again and I’d be patched in and life would go on. Now I’ve fucked her twice and I’m closer to her than ever.

I pull up outside her new house and cut the engine.

“Kyle, you go inside, your sister will join you in a minute,” I say, he listens, unlike his sister.

She goes to open her door as Kyle slams his shut and I quickly lean over the seat and pull it closed again.

“I’ll be staying here tonight,” I begin.

“No…”

“Yes, I won’t bother you or sleep with you. I’ll stay on the couch, I won’t even talk to you,” I tell her.

She doesn’t say anything and I lean over and push her door open for her. She climbs out and I quickly follow her inside the house.

Ever since Cas lured her away from her home, she has been staying in the new place and in my eyes, it’s a hell of a downgrade.

“Why don’t I take you home, to your other place?” I sigh, throwing myself down on the couch.

“I’m fine here, and make yourself at home,” she mutters, disappearing into the kitchen.

Kyle turns on the TV and he makes himself comfortable in the armchair. Pope’s earlier concern about them not caring about Danny and Cayden returns to me and I wonder the same thing.

“I’m going for a bath, then bed,” Melissa informs us and jogs up the stairs.

I wait for the door to close before I ask Kyle about his family. He gets in first with his own question.

“What’s going on between you and my sister?”

“Nothing.”

“Doesn’t feel like nothing, tension is thick in this house because of you two, not nothing.”

I ignore him and watch the football game. I don’t particularly care for the game but it’s better than answering his questions.

Melissa’s ability to switch moods in a split second is tiring. I should love it when she’s quiet, but I find I’m drawn to her most when she is. Every time I think I’m doing the right thing, I want her and it leaves us both confused.

“What’s the deal with your family?” I blurt out.

“How do you mean?”

“You and Melissa are close, yet you’re not to Danny and Cayden. Why?”

“Mel and I are the only ones with the same dad and Cay and Dan both have different dads. Our mom was drawn to pricks but she is a good woman. Cayden and Danny spent a lot of time with their dads and they weren’t nice guys. Also, we don’t have pyscho tendencies.”

“What were they like as kids?”

“Same as they are now…minus murder of course. They’ve always been bullies.”

It doesn’t surprise me.

“They’re older than us and were never home much, they gave our mom hell, they blamed her for their dads not being around.”

“But you said they spent a lot of time with them?”

“They did, but they had to leave town to visit them. Danny always wanted to be the main guy but he couldn’t hold that down when he wasn’t around for half the year.”

“What was Melissa like?”

I don’t need to know any more about a dead man and a soon to be dead man.

“If I answer that, will you answer a question I have?”

“Depends what you want to know,” I say, but I nod and he sits forward.

“She was the one who looked out for me really, she’s strong and feisty, she’ll kick your ass if you piss her off…”

“What is she feeling when she goes quiet?” I ask.

I already know everything he’s telling me. I want fresh information on her.

“Ah, when she’s like she is tonight, it’s because she either hates herself, or she’s scared. I know she isn’t scared of you, so I’m guessing she’s done something she isn’t happy with.”

It’s me, I’m the reason she hates herself and yet again, I’m feeling like shit because of her.

“What did you want to ask me?”

Nerves hit him hard and I think he’s going to back out and watch the game but he doesn’t. He claims a second strength and pushes on.

“Do you think Cas will let me prospect for the Lost Souls?”

I nearly choke on my breath, is this kid for real? I quickly recover and say, “You’d have to talk to Cas, he’s the one who has the say.”

“How did you become a prospect?”

The shock of his question has worn off, my attention is returning to Melissa and my mind is floating up the stairs to the bathroom, where she lays soaking in bubbles with no clothes on. I shake my head and stand.

“I’ll be back in a minute,” I mutter and head upstairs.

Standing outside the bathroom door, I raise my hand to knock and brace myself for her cold eyes.
